For me it was probably warcraft 3.

I spent a half hour game, carefully planning my structures, putting together a balanced army that hit the food limit as far as it could possibly go, I had all the structures upgraded and all the troops equipment upgrades were maxed out, I amassed a bloody army, I advance to the closest enemy base to take it out aaaaaaaaaaaand I was obliterated by what was one of three small platoons on my enemies side.

I pulled, literally, a hoard of mobs by sidestepping in an instance the other day. Game: Aion + my character: healer = FAIL

Best noob moment I know of : A friend bought Morrowind and played for about 2 weeks without knowing there was a map you can guide by. It took him about 1 week of intense play to get to Caldera...

SSBB: On the Mario Bros stage I thought that if you go to one side you come out the other like on the NES and even how the enemies do- boy was I wrong.
Mario Kart: I thought that if you turn around and shoot a red shell, its better than simply shooting a red shell backwards (it won't aim that way), it doesn't work haha.

I have a lot more I'll update it when I think of them haha.

Left 4 dead, disturbing the witch just to see what happens... or because you're bored. We've all done it. The "best" time to try this out is when playing on Expert.

However my biggest noob moment was a flukey one, Halo 3: in which I chucked a plasma grenade nowhere near my target, completey missing them, having it bounce back off a wall into my face and then proceeding into a nearby corridor where a battle was taking place and blowing up, killing everyone. All six of them, including my teammates. I was not popular.

Trying to take on a tank in CoD:Waw with just a pistol.
While on Last Stand with a group of guys trying to heal me.
Dude, it only works if you're Captain Miller.
Cookies for reference.
"Saving Private Ryan", oh yeah! There are cookies right? You didn't just lie to me?

I was getting my ass kicked in COD: WaW and was quite frankly sick of how bad I was playing.
So naturally I decided to hold onto a grenade until I died just to emphasize to others and myself how shite I was playing.
And of course I ended up killing 3 of my team mates and getting kicked from the game.
Huzzah!

So, I remembered one time, the only time, I tried starcraft's online play. I soon found out, I was up against ridiculously professional players who have been online for 11 goddamn years. Of course I was squashed, but alas, the stupid game is IMPOSSIBLE to get into! Excuse me for being new, dammit, I suppose I'll play with my friends.
Anyways, what are your worst noob moments in gaming?
(This was sort of an excuse to blow of steam from that stupid occurrence)
Starcraft moment: I had wiped out nearly all the enemies buildings and forced him to defend his last two in the corner of the map. I had more forces than he did, but I wasn't all that experienced in tactical warfare. The corner was blocked by a river with only a single bridge to cross. I sent all my forces at him, thinking victory was mine. He destroyed them as they crossed one-by-one over the bridge. By the time I realized what was going on, he had enough firepower to strike back and kicked my ass.

Flying vehicles in any Battlefield game.

That's all I can say.

Always flip the damn things over, give up, and then just wind up planting C4 on both friendly and enemy craft just to tick off the people that knew how to fly (BFV that time).

Just... stupid helicopters!

I just got the first Left 4 Dead and I accidentally alerted the horde in Dead Air by...
walking through the metal detector.
Oh, I know that feeling. I'm playing campaign coop and we get to that point.
Someone:"Don't walk through the metal detector."
Me: "What metal detector?"
Metal Detector rings.
Me: "Oh....that metal detector?"

Anytime where I ran in a direction I wasn't suppose to go that resulted in either my being slain, or a team wipe; the common mistake.

That's why I've played with friends several times over to figure everything out before going full online and embarrassing myself. lol
