I rescue Scarlett Johansson from the zombies and carry her off too my well supplied yacht and we cruise down to the Caribbean were we live out our days on small uninfected islands also I plan on saving Salma Hayek, and the girl who works at the coffee shop near my house, and Catherine Zeta Jones, oh and that girl in my Classical Studies class...wait what were we talking about again?
I actually just discussed this not an hour ago on my college radio station... we're doing a Humans VS Zombies thing on campus, and so our show used zombie survival as a topic.

First, get out of any population center with what ever family/friends I can. Go south and meet up with some gun happy friends of my dad's, get them to come along with every bit off food, supplies, what ever and get inland away from any amount of population. Find a small town with a mall with at least two stories. Barricade completely (using chairs and crap at first then using bricks and cement as soon as possible) all windows, doors, etc. on the first floor. Block all but one way between the first and second story, just incase any zombies do get in. As soon as I made some basic barricades, I would have everybody charge up ever battery and fill up every thing that can hold water with the sinks (since electrictity and water lines won't last long without human intervention) and try to find any kind of solar panals for unlimited electricity. Ration the foods as best as we can, and start to make gardens on the roof for a substainable food source. Either last the zombies out, wait to be rescued, or just create a society of mall dwellers.
get the swords I sharped with me and run trought the most zombies as possible. To eventually, somewhere safe... Probably far in the woods.
I'd get a load of survivors (selected from one of the millions of zombie survival team threads), and get into a double decker bus. Think about it. You have a metal box which you can lock. You can drive it around and kill a few zombies that way. You can stop off at petrol stations and shops when there are no zombies around. You can take shifts driving. As long as the army doesn't go all 28 Weeks Later on you, you're safe.

Me and some friends go raid a Cabelas while another group secure a Wal-Mart. Those that raided the Cabelas go to the Wal-Mart and we hang out their having a schedule for people sniping from the roof and regular checks on the window and door barricades.
Decay might work for those in the hotter areas of the world but for those place in the colder regions would have to deal with zombies constantly freezing which could act to preserve them until they thaw posing additional, unexpected threats.eels05 said:

i will probably use my bow and couple of arrows until i get to the local gun shop, take a car from the lot conveniently located right across the street, then haul it to someplace in the desert.
PS. if you get bitten, and it was veeeery recently, like in the last few seconds, couldn't you just lop off the limb that was bitten so the zombie virus doesn't spread through you?

First, I would split up with my family in gathering food and weaponry then put together my neighborhood to form a small sort of survival group. We would expand our defenses and stability to support ourselves until we could support a small time government.
I live in a basement apartment, with fairly solid windows (the kind you need an axe to get through). So my plan is pretty much to just close all curtains/blinds, fill every empty container I own with water before it gets shut off, and keep my gun and sword with me at all times. I'll probably try to organize the rest of the people in the building (assuming any are alive) and try to barricade up the building so we can at least move around a bit, and organize supply parties as needed.
I also have some hockey pads and other equipment I can improvise as armor; as long as it's not Left 4 Dead (special infected) or 28 Days later (zombie spit + your face = screwed) rules, I should be fairly safe.

My friend Kyle is in charge of securing food, and my friend Renai finds us weapons and ammunitition because his dad runs a gun store. While me and Josh bring humvees, Moira reserves us a private plane that can land on water. After we all get on the plane we fly to one of the offshore oil rigs that I have mapped and wait there. Fish for food, use all the oil collected to keep the generators running. Use end of the world panic as an opportunity to *comfort* Moira.
