someone makes a thread about reminiscing over the last 3 years he was on the escapist and wishing to share some of that

and then everyone "reminisces" about how the forums have a apparently changed for the worse and its just not fun anymore, I barely post anymore I just lurk and dammit wont those post 2011 kids get off my lawn!

[img/]http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-cXNkWeiqq0c/T3zBBliBUTI/AAAAAAAAAFE/mtrGtR9isBQ/s1600/old+man.jpg[/img]

and no I'm not criticizing people for feeling that way, that would be stupid

its just aside from that I (used to) find this place depressing enough as it is! all that jaded cynacism and crys of everything being awful (of coarse as is human nature we like ot hate thing things, its cathartic, but there is also limits as to what we can take)....

oh and try being a Mass Effect fan [small/]without wanting to give up and be depressed over the fact that everything you like is actually bad and you clearly have no taste[/small]

[img/]http://abbeyh91.files.wordpress.com/2012/06/comic-book-guy-worst-post-ever.jpg[/img]

but anyway, lets not be negative, or depressing or hateful. I'm tired of hanging out with you sad sacks!

lets just talk about GOOD things for once [b/]so whats somthing good? a game you like? somthing that happned?

OR if you want to disagree with me go ahead....because only talking about good things can be boring

so

Yesterday I finished Dishonoured, I thourght it was seriously cool, not perfect (mabye let down by the voice acting) but the world was awsome, I hope for a seaquel. Also aparently it had Half Lifes 2 art director which shows because I was getting serious combine vibes from all that "watch" architecture

also last Fruday Tomb Raider "broke street date" which ment I got my copy early! (and the figure, which I might say is very nice) of coarse being PC I cant actually play it untill release date..but I have it! possibly before most of you!...so ner!

oh and yesterday I played Starcraft 2 for the first time and experiences my first Zerg rush!

You 2010 whippersnapper you.

I was pleasantly surprised by the quality of my brother's homebrew beer, I guess that was something good. I also bought a Cookie Monster onesie, because I am just that stylish.

I saw that thread. I've also seen it on every single online community I've ever been a part of. Fuck, I've even been that guy.

Every generation thinks the one after is the worst ever, even when it comes to message boards. S'the way things are.

I loved Dishonored. I just wish it were a little bit harder. Aside from that, it was one of my favourite games of 2012. And, contrary to most of the internet's opinions, I thought 2012 was a bloody wonderful year.

I just went on a bit of a Zelda binge m'self. Just finished OoT and am at the Palace of Twilight in TP. I think Zelda is the only game series where I love every single entry. Thinking of tackling Link's Awakening next. That ending... them feels. Which reminds me, I found this the other day:
Seriously beautiful arrangement of a wonderful composition.

I've also nearly finished my second game soundtrack! It's unpaid work (it's for some game design students, and they're poorer than me :p) but it could lead to paid work in the future! Plus, it lets me brag to people about how I've written the music for two bloody games! They don't have to know that they were student projects :p

Well, I do agree that The Escapist is full of cynicism. It was always like that, really, but enough of that.

Anyways, last night I watched The Wolf Children Ame and Yuki, the new anime film from Mamoru Hosoda. I never really "loved" his other work, but I really loved this movie. Even saw it a second time the next morning. Made me feel all warm inside, and I highly recommend it.

But then I watched Blood-C: The Last Dark, which was... alright, I guess, but wasn't as entertainingly stupid as the series.

I'm all for being more happy and positive around here.
It's just rather difficult to maintain that mentality when there are so many petty arguing, bickering, flame throwing internet turds.
It brings out the worst in everyone.
: (

Anywho, good things.
I recently told the person I am in a relationship with one of my very personal and deep secrets.
And he totally loves me for it. I'm convinced I will be with this person forever hopefully.
(Acts of random cosmic aggression/or chaos excepted)

I'm a 27 year old single dude.

I live on my own. I have a nice job. I'm looking at buying a place of my own (home ownership bitches!). I have the disposable income to feed my addicting video game habit (not as much as I'd like but enough to get me through without getting the shakes). I'm right now watching Season 2 of "Game Of Thrones" and am just as happy with it so far as I was with Season 1. I've lost 50 pounds since I graduated from college.

Basically, once I can convince a lady to show me her boobies on a regular basis, my life will be perfect (and PsychicTaco115 already agreed to be my wing-man so it won't take long). Everyone be jealous of Tippy2K2!

I've been having a lot of fun with Crysis 3 lately. It's a lot of fun to play through abusing the cloak + bow, and the guns during run&gun feel like they've got a lot of kick. The environments are a lot larger than Crysis 2, and even though it's a bit of a retcon... or stretch... or something... the protagonist isn't voiceless so there's actually a story worth caring about.

I seem to be in a minority around here for even caring about it.

I'm thinking of buying it, but I rarely buy games full price anymore. I actually really enjoyed Crysis 2 (albeit, less than the original) so something like that with more open-environments and more PC-killing goodness is alright by me.

I am currently listening to Devin Townsend's "Ziltoid the Omniscient" album. Due to feeling like I already owned too much of Mr. Townsend's music, I put off buying this album for quite a while. But a little while back, I finally actually got it. And it is quite excellent. Everybody should listen to it.

I played some more Okami today. It is an awesome game. In fact, I kind of want to go play it again right now. I mean, just running around is a ton of fun. The way you accelerate just makes it a joy to play. Plus, the art style is awesome.

I'm in the middle of Act 6 of Homestuck, and I can just not get enough of it. The characters are just so well written, and I just keep wanting to know what happens to them next. Also, it has an awesome soundtrack.

Anyway, I hope that was enough positiveness coming from me.

I don't usually say this because I don't want to rain on people's hate-parade...
BUT I F*CKING LOVED ASSASSIN'S CREED III.
I REALLY enjoyed it. I *do* have to admit, the naval battles was one of the best part, but was it the ONLY good part?
NO.
I throw a little party inside my soul every time I execute a proper double-counter or double kill. The animations are just SO COOL.
In other news.
I went to my first Con today. Emerald City Comic-Con. I freaking loved it. I didn't cosplay and it drained my wallet faster than I could say "comics" but I don't care. Seeing the booths and merch and cosplay, oh man, it made my eyes so happy.
I actually do plan to cosplay next year, New Dante.
HATERS GONNA HATE.
...
And because I don't have the physique or hair color/style to pull off Old Dante.
And yeah, I ENJOYED DMC.

I actually liked Crysis 2 more than the original (I felt that the open world in the first was a lie, because there wasn't anything to do except go to your next objective, and the gunplay was annoying and unsatisfying because even the normal human enemies were bullet sponges), and I think 3 is better than 2 in every single way.

The weapons, even in stealth, have a lot of kick and the new predator bow is insanely fun to use, on "Normal" at least doing run&gun with an assault rifle is completely viable, there are still some corridor areas but there is a larger number of open, big areas and they're larger than they were in Crysis 2, and the sounds and graphics are, of course, absolutely fantastic on the PC.

I had a nice weekend, culminating in spending a day with my best friend playing Super Smash Bros. and watching Spiderman. Plus, there's no school on Friday, so that's always fun. :D

I agree about the open world. It felt like there was very little point to it besides looking pretty. I mostly love the first one because I loved going into strength mode and throwing soldiers through the walls of the shacks. I don't think I used a single gun up until the aliens showed up.

3 looks like it's trying to capitalize on the predator mentality with the bow and that's something I definitely approve of.

I think captcha is broken. It asked me "what do vegetarians eat" so I chose people and it said there was an error! WTF?

The bad news: I just paid for Duke Nukem...

The good news: ...one and two.

Fun fact: The original game is called "Duke Nukum".

Other fun fact: THEY ARE BLEEDING AWESOME.
