Well, I wrote an article for my student newspaper, and it got picked up by the Associated Press. They wrote an edited down version of it with a link my original, and now pretty much any news source in the country can use it. (The edited one, that is)

So I feel pretty good about that.

Oh, and I was finally able to get into Borderlands 2. I guess I understand what the fuss was about it, despite it apparently having been written by someone with the sense of humor of a twelve-year old.

Bioshock Infinite comes out on the 26th, and new episodes of Doctor Who and Game of Thrones on the 30th and 31st respectively. These are my happy thoughts.
And if you're still feeling down brah, just push the button.

I swear, I think I've seen you made a couple of threads like this before.

Anyway, finally obtained Beyond Good & Evil for the PC and it's flipping awesome.
My grandmother survived a serious spine operation and can walk without pain now, couldn't have wished for any thing better.
I've started a new course and it's every thing I hoped it would be.
In about a weeks time, I get to go to my first wedding (someone elses, duh) and I've always wanted to experience one.
My boss increased my pay not too long ago for some reason.

My life is fine. I have no idea what cynacism you're talking about exactly, but it hasn't effected me yet. I get sick of all the assumptions, generalisations and labels though. That's how you start a war!

I wanted to find a clip from the Simpsons of the Swedish guy saying 'Joy is but the shadow pain casts' because it was the first thing I thought when I opened this thread. But I couldn't find it. Because Youtube sucks now. Not like in the old days. When it was good. When everything was good.

OT: Suede, my favourite band, are releasing a new album this month after a decade-long hiatus. This makes me happy.

I saw two old men with handlebar moustaches the other day. That made me happy.

And I recently discovered how much I enjoy the work of Rob Zombie, industry-leader in a genre that I've termed 'fuck-metal'.

NO, this is just proof of your HORRIBLE TASTE, because as everyone knows my opinion is the correct one and everyone else is WRONG. (kidding. I assume that was blindingly obvious but you can never be too sure, sarcasm doesn't show well in text)
while I can synpathise with the fan rage (you know..being a Mass Effect fan) it does seem that most people who arent fans of the old DMC actually think the game isnt bad...GOOD even

just sayin

It's possible to not be cynical and depressing? Wow.
Um...
I made lot of progress in XCOM, though I hit a near impossible situation, which may leave me with a doom meter 1 thing away from being full in six XCOM days.
Um...
I got 100% in Antichamber, and finished Far Cry 3.
I don't have much other news then that.

I found everyone, including me was burnt out after a couple of days on Rob Zombie. Their music doesn't exactly stay good for very long in my opinion. But that's my opinion that many others share.

I am too awesome for words and I understand why you all love me so much.
I am a legend among men and woman, I know.

I could fight a crocodile.
I could run a marathon after eating a KFC family bucket.
I could land on Mars.

I'm not depressing. I motivate myself no end.

I was honestly contemplating about starting a thread similar to this one... only more trolly... and condescending.

OT: I just heard that The Showdown Effect will be release tomorrow and it's making my nipples hard

Sorry to hear that the forums have got you down. Here is a nice cheerful video to raise your spirits.

I one up you:

Anyways, something good, something good...

I got Command and Conquer Generals/Zero Hour working again without Origin :D (I really don't want to have to have two clients running to play muh games...old disks so it's legal)

My best friend has finally gotten his Fiance's Visa so he can finally stay in the U.S and (soon) start working with his wife.

I recently got Ghost Recon: Future soldier for cheap on Steam ($20 for EVERYTHING, in Aus, very nice), that was very nice, even if it's unoptimized, always online and buggy as hell.

I don't owe people money now (namely parents) so I can try to save again.

Oh, and I found a new band to listen to.

After the REAL bummer of not having an DX 11-ready graphics-card and not being able to play crysis 3 due to that, I'm just playing the first one and I am having a frickin' blast.

SO much better than the second one.

Well, Soul Sacrifice is coming out soon. I'm also pretty gosh darn handsome if I do say so myself.

Think I'll have a beef jerky to reward myself.

Don't misunderstand.

Vault, I'm gonna be honest. A lot of the times, I really don't gel with your opinions (or at least, how you express them). But I agree with you here. I skimmed that thread, and it left a pretty bad taste in my mouth.
thanks for saying...

I can't remember if weve ever "locked horns" so to speak
No, I'm sure we haven't. I tend to shy away from arguing on the forums. It's just a lot of trouble for no gain.

Funny you mention that.
This is my 5th year on the escapist and I've got less than 1000 points; simply because I don't bother with many of the people here.

Many people are jaded and cynical; out of laziness, or they've just given up, or they never tried, or they're just lonely and don't know any better.
Jaded opinions - unless you've lead a very similar life, are unpleasant, unwanted, and unnecessary.
The other issue I've found is everybody's so focused on separating good will, faith, subjectivity and the relativism of others; because 'the only way to be a decent human being is to have a cold conversation of which everything that is stated MUST be able to be verified and proven by every other person reading.'

Honestly? Fuck that. That's not how life works. That's not how life 'should' work. The system is fucked; but it works. Life isn't as boring for everybody, as it is for you. Some people have to deal with intense shit - that's just what they've got to do, not everything can be proven - and you're just going to have to deal with that.
I'm more sick of the hardcore depressed lonely gamer science fanatic than I am of the hipster pious guy with a pious girlfriend who just accepts it and moves on.

I could leave the forum; but I'm not. I like some of the stuff presented, I like reading some of the discussions, and I like watching Zero Punctuation.

I am struggling to be happy these days. I bought KotOR 2 and downloaded some mods just to help me out of my depression, but it isn't doing much. Overall my life has gone to shit in the last few months. I feel like my cynicism is somewhat justified.

Oh shit I forgot Game of Thrones was coming back in a few weeks. That might help some.
