A certain country has decided that your skills in games (that don't have to involve stupid realistic simulators) make you the perfect captain for your ship.

What will you call yours and why?

I would christen my warship the ss.Chundering Rhino. Its funny, intimidating and it'll make documentaries about it pretty awkward.

Battleship?! Battleship?! How antiquated can you get, Mr Pizza?! Navies only really operate aircraft carriers, submarines, multi-task destroyers and missile cruisers in this day and age. =P

Anyway, if it was the RN, then HMS Prometheus, for the pure irony.

Yep... even the Royal Navy got rid of them in the 60s... this was the last one http://www.battleships-cruisers.co.uk/vanguard.htm ... cruise missiles and the like have really changed the game.

But whatever. I'd call it the Yamaha 2, just to send autistic otaku into spasms over how I'd "got it wrong".

Don't you mean... ooooooh, i c wut u did thar!!

Talking about ships the RN scrapped, I remember seeing photos of a few of the WWII vets at the breakers' yards in Scotland. Nelson, Rodney, KGV all with empty barbettes. Man, that was depressing.

I assume when you say Battleship, you mean a spaceship, because having a ship that battles is basically worthless.

I'd probably go with Prometheus. No, scratch that, I'd name it Fluttershy, Destroyer of Worlds.

Surely the fact that battleships are obsolete makes it more likely that navies would give them away? Makes some sort of sense, almost.

I believe that there are only four battleships that could be restored to working condition, and none of them are in service. They'd sort of have to refit them all, which would cost a lot of money for little gain.
Well, whoever they gave them too could be made to foot the bill, surely? As scams go, it's...original.

I would call mine Fluffy.

My first action with it would be to fire at B5.

Your move, *****.

Is that the Iowa-class four? I know that the New Jersey is a museum ship, don't know about the other three.

Sudden thought: the RN still has the oldest commissioned warship in the world. In all your faces! XD

I'd probably name it after something I really like. A game or book, for example. Or I'd call it the SS Faith, after a girl I know... :)

Who cares if it's antiquated war-tech? It's a ruddy Battleship, it'd be awesome to have.

I'd call mine the Curmudgeonly badger and use it as my new house/casino/bowling alley/all-round fun-mobile.

Stop ruining all the fun with talking about how obsolete they are. I'd call mine Big Stick, and everyone on board would have to wear slippers.

If you don't get it, google Teddy Roosevelt quotes.

I'd call mine the Berdel Haarder after our old minister of education who messed up our school system, then I would have it sailed to India and scrapped.
