I used to play a few years ago. Got pretty good at it for a bit, but then I lost interest/couldn't afford it.
I got back into it for a few weeks every summer when I was in high school when I went to a state choir for 18 days, as it was a good way to pass time, but by that point I didn't really care that much about the ability of my deck. It was just for fun at that point, and nobody really had any newer cards.
Here's a good indicator of when I quit. My deck revolved around Jinzo. I have no idea what the hell a Gemini deck is.
Just bugging you. And Jinzo's a joke in competitive matches, he's easily outweighed by Royal Decree as tributes only work in decks like Frognarch(Frog and Monarch) that can keep up with Synchro Summons by abusing Swap Frog, Roanintoadin and Treeborn Frog as a way to speed up the deck and produce fadder.

Gemini decks are too risky. Cards like Book of Moon, Bottomless Trap Hole, and the countless destructive abilities of cards make summoning one twice neigh impossible. I first read their effects and went "WTF, How can you use this?"
Actually, Gemini's have made some strides in competitive play with the help of Neos Alius.
Allowing for Honest, Skyscraper and Skyscraper 2, Stratos and obviously the bevy of Neos Support, including Neos Wrath wich is an amazingly powerful spell.
Really? Hm. I haven't faced any recently. They just didn't seem to match up well against Lightsworns. (My friend now hates me.) I want to face one again now.

A few months ago, a friend and I debated attempting to get back into the game. We were bored and just felt like spending money, so we could just buy a shit ton of cards. Well, we bought three packs each, and I didn't understand a word they said. So, we opted to buy the latest Yugioh DS game released at the time (found two copies on clearance for $8), and we said we'd learn the new game from this. But, a few weeks later, we just lost interest.
Its a shame, because I love card games. The game just lost me.
I'm sad to say I have two of these collecting dust in my closet. The original and that other evil looking one they came out with. (had something to do with Atlantis or something to that effect...it looked badass so I bought it) I was way to old to own those things when they came out, hell my arm didn't really fit in it to be honest.
In the end it messed up a few of my favorite cards and was just a damned hassle over playing at at a table. I don't play the game anymore, got tired of trying to keep up with the pack and grew annoyed that they kept banning very staple cards to my decks. I really enjoyed it when I did play, but I cringe with embarrassment when I see those two things sitting in my closet.

I ditched the series and card game because I hated "Synchros". I thought they had "ruined my game". I got over myself and watched 5D's. I loved it. I then bought Tag Force 5. Countless hours later I'm back up to speed. I'd watch 5D's. It is a great way to get back into the swing of things.

I just don't have the time or funds these days. And the anime (any series) never did anything for me. I watched a few episodes of 5Ds, and it was just "eh" for me.
Though I have watched a few people play, and even though I didn't know what was going on, it was fun to watch.
When they invent the real hologram play though, like in the show, you better believe I'm going to be playing again.

Hahaha you'd be really surprised! There's a lot of support and because I don't play staples, along with my friends, my deck is actually super fast in obtaining field dominance! in terms of opponents using staples, they work just as well against Geminis as any other really. I never have a necessity to actually second summon my Geminis, though, so BTH is only a problem against the first summon. Seriously, although the don't look great from the offset, Geminis are VERY powerful.
I used to play when I was about ten, but then I moved to Russia and nobody has or even knows about Yu-Gi-Oh there, so I kinda stopped. I still have a bunch of cards somewhere... As far as I remember I relied on a life burning deck.
Re-started again this week after atleast 5 year break and everythings changed, how dare it! Have to say its better now from what i've seen. Sadly can't mind my old cards and got some new ones that I want to try out soon. Think my old deck was very good (against Friends, not in tournements) but the game seems to have evolved since then and see if I can bring back beating my brothers/friends rather than having bean left behind.
Good-day my fellow Escapists. I am here to talk about a serious matter indeed. I shall speak, of course, about children's card games. Now, I play Yu-Gi-Oh! (or duel monster's) and I love it. I am a 16 year old male having played for about 3 years now. Many of my friends play as well, and we each run different archetypes in our decks to keep things fresh. From this you should be able to derive my personal opinion on those wonderful little cards, which leads me to my full question:
What are your opinions on 'Children's Card Games'. Ie, do you play them? Why or why not? What would bring you to play them?
For all who may be interested, I run a pure Gemini deck, stapleless.
Monsters:
3x Dark Valkyria
3X Evocator Chevalier
2x Gemini Summoner
2x Crusader of Endymion
2X Blazewing Butterfly
2x Gemini Soldier
2x Featherizer
1x Grasschopper
1x Tuned Magician
1X Gemini Scorpion
1x Knight of the Red Lotus
1x Goggle Golem
1x Energy Bravery
Spells:
3x Unleash Your Power
3x Supervise
2x Gemini Spark
1x Foolish Burial
1x Metalsilver Armor
1x Wicked-Breaking Flamberge-Baou
1x Future Fusion
1x Dark Factory of Mass Production
1x Double Summon
I still play sometimes but when I do it is always on a video game, I don't know anyone else who plays so there isn't much point collecting the cards anymore.
Supposedly Konami say it'll be on the market within two years.
You know how the Vita and the 3DS both have those augmented reality cards, right? Konami are just trying to get a program running to recognise all of their cards and basically be able to summon and control 3d models.
Yeah Im a bit skeptical on that since I have a hard time buying they are going to be able to pull off life sized holograms with such a small thing as a duel disk.
And I think they already got that card scanning thing down.
Just a matter of re releasing all their cards in that format
