"We arrive!" Sonny announced, stopping in the doorway of the coffee-shop. He glanced over his shoulder, and a quick head-count revealed that there were six members of the group in total; then he pressed onwards, nodding his salutations to the woman behind the counter.
Selecting a table near the back of the shop large enough to house all six teenagers, Sonny motioned for the others to park themselves, then got comfortable once they were all seated.
Sonny looked around the table at the assembled faces. He'd developed a vague idea of what most of the others were like already; Damien was almost unrealistically cool, and most of the time unusual characters like Sonny wouldn't have a hope of even getting to know cool people like that. Maybe Damien was so cool that even hanging around with weird, uncool people like him wouldn't do anything to hinder his coolness. God, he was just so Goddamn cool.
Jason was charming, and Angelo was shaping up to be nice enough too; he'd have to make a note of getting to know these two a bit better. He could conclusively say that neither of them were likely to hassle him for no reason, though, and if he'd judged that right he was sure he'd like them both just fine.
Alex... Alex was nice. Alex was really, really nice. He'd been the first one to come to Sonny's aid, he'd attempted to resolve the conflict with words rather than violence - which, Sonny realized looking back, wasn't exactly "dweebish", but was actually a fairly wise means of avoiding getting beaten up, depending on how you handled it - and he'd barely batted an eyelid when Sonny jumped into his arms earlier. Sonny wondered what he'd think if he made a habit of doing that...
And, at last, Carolina. She was the one Sonny had had the least interaction with throughout the day, and while all the guys were nice, they did all come across as very much being the "Guy" variety of guy, and Sonny would probably have an easier time talking about stuff with her than anyone else. She was very quiet, though - even more so than Sonny, in fact - and Sonny had to ponder how easy she'd be to befriend. Would she even be interested in befriending Sonny? She seemed slightly unusual - not by Sonny's standards, of course - but it didn't seem as though she was really interested in other people all that much... and what was it that she'd said earlier, in school? Something which struck Sonny as odd... was it something to do with reading minds, or something like that?
Oh, God. Sonny went pale. Could she... could she really hear thoughts? Could she hear his thoughts? Oh shit, oh shit, oh shit. Sonny checked to see if she was looking at him, then wavered and glanced away immediately without verifying anything. Alright, just think about normal things. Nooooormal things. Normal things normal things normal things normal things Alex's chest DAMMIT-
Panicking, Sonny sprang out of his seat as though stung by a wasp and browsed his imagination for an excuse as to why he should leave right at this very second. "Alright, I'm, uh, gonna go get drinks!" he declared, pointedly not looking at any of his companions, and he spun on his heel and headed towards the counter. No, wait, dammit-
Sonny turned back and addressed the group, continuing not to look in anyone's direction. "Alright, what does everybody want?"
