"Lina, Angelo, Alexander, Damien, Jack, and...who isss the one over on the couch?" Bleu asked.

"That's Sonny, he also helped us fight off those demons, however, he really got the shit knocked out of him and is now unconscious." Jason explained to the snake-lady.

"If ya don't mind, could we 'ave some answers as t' who the hell those greasers were, and what they wanted with ya?" Damien sighed, exhausted from using his power during the last fight.

"Alright. Ahem!" Bleu sighed as she cleared her throat. "I am a demon. I come from a world that exisssts in parallel to this one. Thessse two worldsss, are known asss Demon world, my home, and Human world, thisss world. The two worldsss are connected in a way that I cannot explain. There isss a ssstrong barrier that preventsss demonsss and humansss from freely crossssing over into the opposssite realm. Thisss is where thossse thugsss come in. Thossse bassstardsss that you sssaved me from work for an organization known asss Wormhole. Ssssomehow, Wormhole has managed to perfect the art of transssporting demonsss through the barrier without being detected by it. However, oncccce a demon hasss been transssfered through, they will begin blackmailing them for cash until they run out of money. Oncccce the money flow ssstopsss, they track down the demonsss, kidnap them, and sssend them back to Demon World." Bleu stopped and paused for breath and looked at the humans around her.

She gave them a few seconds to get their thoughts straight and then continued. "Of courssse, they never told me about the paymentsss i needed to make in order to ssstay in thisss world. Asss you can sssee, i got a job over at the Ssstarbucksss shop in order to try and ssstay longer. However, the price they charged was far too great and I ran out of money. Thatsss why thossse goonsss showed up when they did."

"Isss there anything elssse you would like to know? You sssaved me, the leassst i can do isss clear up any confusssion that you all may have." Blew asked the group. These teenagers may be the only chance i have at having a normal life. What with Demon world being a hellzone and Wormhole being present on both sides, I'm really over a barrel here...

Lina took a moment to let it all sink in, then she frowned. "That's not right." She said after a moment.

I guess humans aren't the only ones capable of being assholes...

"So, what do you intend to do now? These Wormhole guys don't sound like nice guys. And..." She paused as a thought came to her. "If there's a barrier between your world and ours, then shouldn't there be people keeping an eye on it? Like a border patrol or something?"

Bleu thought about Lina's question for a moment and quickly remembered just who it was who oversaw the barrier between Human world and Demon world.

"There isss another party that overssseesss the barrier between our worldsss. Itsss called Sssspirit World. Ssspirit world isss what everyone knowssss asss the afterlife. They are in charge of ssseparating humanssss and demonssss into Heaven or Hell. Thossse assssholessss wouldn't know how to ssssecure their dicksss in their pantsss, much lesssss sssecure a barrier between worldsss." Bleu's eyes narrowed into slits and her voice became angry as she thought more and more about the incompetence of the Spirit World. However, she quickly snapped out of it when she felt a twinge of pain run through her cheek. Part of the muscles needed for her to form her eyes in to slits was connected to the now-purple lump on her face.

"Oh my..." Bleu whispered as she felt the lump on her face and twitched away at the slightest touch.

"One of those demons slugged you good. Unfortunately, he was the one that escaped." Jason explained to the shocked Bleu.

"Oh, I sssee." Bleu sighed. "Alright, what next?"

"I don't suppose you know where they're home base is do you?" Jack asked.

Bleu thought hard about this one, when she had come to this world, the first thing she heard was running water, a lot of it too. "No, I don't have a clue where their bassse isss. The only thing I can think of isss that itsss near running water somewhere. That wasss the first thing i heard when I came to thisss world." She explained as best she could.

She turned to Damien and Alex. "How about you? Do you have anything you want to asssk?" she asked the boys.

Sonny drifted back into consciousness at precisely the right moment to see Alex wrapping a bandage around his knee. Naturally, he'd been forced to lift Sonny's skirt a fair distance to reach this position; and, uncouth as it was, Sonny couldn't help but to find his spirits somewhat lifted by this thought.

Sonny considered saying something to inform the rest of the group of his return to the land of the living, but found he wasn't quite at that stage of consciousness yet; he could move his eyelids, but anything greater than that, such as his lips or his tongue, was a little beyond him. Ah, well. Looked like he'd just have to watch Alex work on his legs for a bit longer. What a shame.

Alex's cheeks were slightly tinged with red when Bleu called out to him. His mother had always told him that as far a proper medical treatment went, embarrassment was only a liability and had to be placed aside. However, even through Alex was pretty sure that Sonny was a guy (or at least somewhat sure) it was still quite a unique case and he still couldn't help but be very aware of where he was working.

Then to add another layer of complication it was quite a challenge to listen to Bleu and tell what she was even saying with all the ssssing. Alex did his best to focus on her words and let his first aid lessons take care of the other thing.

"Umm... questions?" He said slightly flustered. "Err, well." Then he paused to think about it. Really, this... person's sudden appearance (and Alex now thought of it as almost impossible to not consider her a person) raised a bunch of questions, too many really for Alex to think of one that stood out. To start with, this Ssspirit world thing made religion all kinds of weird just by existing. Still, Alex know that this probably wasn't the time, and besides his head was starting to hurt just thinking about it.

"Well, are there many more... um..." He tried to think of how to phrase the question. "Like you? Here I mean, not in that demon world." He specified after a moment.

Damien sighed loudly. "Fuuuuuuuuuuuuuu..." He muttered under his breath. He shook his head. "Great. So there is an authoritative body that separates the good from the bad, instead of God. That pretty much fucks up just about every religion on earth, don't it? Might as well become a Buddhist." Damien shook his head as he stood up and began to pace the room. "I realize your obvious hate for Spirit World, but is there any possible way we can get there? I have a feeling they know how the hell we're supposed to deal with these powers, and I don't trust demon world, fer obvious reasons. No offense." Damien quickly added, looking at Lamia. "But as we are right now, I'm telling all o' y'all right now: if we attack Wormhole, we die. Fact. If I was the boss o' dat company, I would surround myself with 7... No, minimum, 10 guards who were at least three times as strong as the bastards I send out on a simple shakedown. We nearly died tryin' to take out one o' 'em. No way in hell we could manage an entire company, which is why we gotta find someone who knows how to control and strengthen our powers! 'Cause I don't know about you, but I sure as 'ell don't!"

As distracting as the handsome young man with his hands between Sonny's legs was, Sonny couldn't help but to pick up on a few snippets of the conversation going on with the demon-snake-person-thing; and as soon as his mind was clear enough for him to gather the gist of the conversation, he recieved such a shock that he jolted involuntarily and rolled off the couch, landing face-first on the ground. That wasn't going to do the healing process for his new injuries any wonders.

"Pardon my interjection, but... are you suicidal, Damien!?" Sonny attempted to raise himself off the ground so he could deliver his points with more impact behind them, but found he still wasn't quite at a level where he could do that yet and was forced to lean half-lying against the arm of the couch. "We were almost killed - well, I say we; especially me - were almost killed by two of the denizens of that place, and you wish to venture there to discover a means of doing battle with more of them? If you'll forgive my impoliteness, this plan is-" Fuck, what's the word? Long, verbose way of saying "really, really dim"...

Sonny found he wasn't really awake enough to deliver long paragraphs at a time yet - well, not whilst still maintaining that "air of Sonny" that he was sure those around him were growing to love - so he redirected his attention to that other person he wanted to say things to before he forgot. "Of course, if more of those monsters return to our side, we shall do all in our power to fend them off," he reassured Bleu. Thinking back, Sonny felt himself welling up with pride as he recalled how awesome he'd been. Hitting a demon with a mop! Sonny was totally frickin' cool - "-but it seems to me as though "taking the fight to them" wouldn't be the wisest of moves. I apologize, but I'm sure you understand."

Alex was quite surprised when Sonny rolled off the couch. He failed to stop the fall but quickly offered a hand to help Sonny back up again. "Whoa, careful there. You doing alright?" He asked now that Sonny was clearly awake.

However, he was a bit more concerned by what he heard Sonny say next. Always the peacemaker; though these circumstances were quite different; he spoke with a somewhat soft tone to Sonny first. "Now hold on. I think what Damien was suggesting was that we don't just go rushing in. He was saying we could go to this spirit world and talk to them instead of the demons." He looked over at Damien for conformation. "Right?"

"And uh, I'm sure Sonny doesn't think you're really suicidal Damien." He added with a nervous smile. This whole thing was bad enough without any fighting breaking out within the group.

Alex then raised his voice a touch and addressed everyone gathered. "Now I think we still don't know enough to be doing much of anything. Perhaps if we wait till tomorrow we might be able to see if Ms. Tanya has anything to say about all of this. She definitely must know something and I think this is getting a little beyond us."

Looking back at Sonny he tried to put on his best team captain voice; authoritative, but friendly. "As for you; I'm sure the sentiment is appreciated, but you won't be doing any 'fending off' in your current condition."

Lina thought about it for a moment, then turned to Alex.

"Fine. Ms. Tanya gave use these bracelet things to begin with, right?" She asked, glancing down at hers. "So she probably knows more about this than we do, and seeing how I just discovered I cold read minds and move things with it today, I don't want to just rush in to something big."

As she was talking, Lina avoided mentioning that she was picking up the surface thoughts of the people around her, and getting some... interesting information.

"So... what do we do with the snake girl?" She asked next. "I mean, if those Wormhole guys went after her, they still might be trying to find her..."

Damien shook his head and hid his face with his hand, as if not acknowledging this stupidity uttered from Sonny's lips would make it disappear. "Sonny, I'ma gonna go ahead 'n think ya got hit worse then we thought, 'n somehow ya hit yer head, 'Cause Jack here advocated attackin' Wormhole. I say find a way to control our powers..." Here Damien just lost it. "And listen to what I'm fuckin' sayin'! This bullshit sounds like something y'all would see in a goddamn episode of Dragonball Z!" Damien paced the room like a cornered tiger, courtesy for a house not his the only thing keeping him from destroying a bit of the furniture. Damien looked around and spied his bag. He pulled out the metal bat he had used to attack the ox demon, and calmed down a little. "Sorry for that. I'm still tryin' t' get used to this bullshit. Anyone got one o' those teacher contacts they 'anded out over break? Look up Ms. Tanya. I reckon she won't mind bein' called after-hours, seein' as she started all this crap. I don't know about you guys, but if she wants me to live this damn comic- book life for one more day, I need some answers." Damien shook his head. "Fuck! Goodbye, reality." He muttered under his breath. "I'm gonna go outside 'n practice swingin'. Call me if anythin' happens." Damien headed back out to the alley and began to swing his bat, trying to perfect his form. If anyone tried throwing a ball to Damien in this state, they would be looking for it for quite a while. He slowly began to relax as muscle memory took over, sparing his brain from worrying about the entire demon situation.

"So... what do we do with the snake girl?" Lina asked. "I mean, if those Wormhole guys went after her, they still might be trying to find her..." This raised a very good point. Those guys would undoubtedly try and get Bleu again.

Then Damien exploded. Poor fellow must be frustrated as hell with all the questions running through his head right now.

"Look up Ms. Tanya. I reckon she won't mind bein' called after-hours, seein' as she started all this crap. I don't know about you guys, but if she wants me to live this damn comic- book life for one more day, I need some answers." Damien shook his head and walked out the front door with his bat.

"Umm...Did I do sssomething wrong?" Bleu asked the group.

"No no, he's probably just frustrated and confused as hell about what the hell is going on. But he did give Jason an idea. He quickly dug through the piles of papers on Alex's table, his shield occasionally scratching against the surface, and found what Damien was talking about. The sheet with the faculty's phone numbers on it for when parents want to know if their kid is skipping class or something. He quickly found Ms. Tanya's number and dialed it on his cell phone.

"Please enjoy the music until your party answers the phone" Jason quickly jerked his ear away from the phone when the guitar solo from Avenged Sevenfold's song Afterlife began screaming in his ear. at least she knows good music.

"Hello? Who is this?" Ms. Tanya's voice called out over the phone.

"Hello Ms. Tanya, this is Jason from your homeroom class, we need to talk to you as soon as possible. We've had a run in with a pair of demons and our powers awakened. All of them."

"Oh my, well, I'm kinda out of town at the moment, and won't be back until school-time tomorrow. I'm happy to hear that you're powers have awakened and can't wait to see what you guys can do tomorrow." She replied cheerfully.

"OUT OF TOWN!? WHERE THE HELL DO YOU GO AFTER SCHOOL!?" Jason Screamed in anger into the phone.

"Now now Jason, getting mad won't get you anywhere. Just wait until tomorrow and Everything will be fine. Toodles!" *Click*

"Grrrr! That was a complete waste of time!!!" Jason growled as he shoved his cell phone back into his pocket and turned back to Bleu. Another thought popped into his head. She needs a place to crash for the night...without fear of demon rapists.

"Alex, I hate to ask this, but I don't think we have another option here. Do you think you could hide Bleu here for tonight? If those thugs know where she works, they definitely know where she sleeps at night. So she needs to stay somewhere that those guys don't know about. If we try to move her to another location, we might get spotted and then we'd have to explain why there's a Lamia in our party." Jason explained to Alex, hoping that he would comply with his plan.

"You go to our school right Bleu?" Jason asked her.

Bleu nodded. "Yesss, I told you thissss when we firssst met."

"Good, then it won't be hard to make up a story for why you are staying here." Jason turned back to Alex.

"So, do you have any objections? questions? comments? complaints?" Jason asked Alex before making the decision final...

Lenny continued driving until he reached the Wormhole Headquarters. The building was an old brick office building, about three stories tall. On the outside, a sign stood with neon lettering on the top reading "Wade's Water Fixture Emporium!" and a slogan underneath in smaller letters: "If its large, thick, and ready to blow, we'll make it bigger, thicker and spew better than ever before!!!" Despite the cheezy facade and perverted slogan, no customers ever went in there and walked out with a fountain. However, appearances aside, this was definitely Wormhole's HQ.

Lenny quickly hopped out of the car and rushed inside. The interior was much different from the exterior. Inside, there were water fountains, spouts, waterfalls, and pools of water in just about any form imaginable. Lenny maneuvered through the maze of water fixtures, past human clerks who were actually demons in disguise. He made his way to the back of the building and climbed the stair to the second floor, where there was a drastic change of scenery. Poker tables, pool tables, and other assorted recreational tables were strewn about and being enjoyed by the employed bouncers of Wormhole. Lenny bounded passed them and up the stairs to the third floor.

On this floor, there was only one person here. The boss of the Human World side of Wormhole. He was a short man, wearing a business suit and tie and pounding away on a laptop computer on his desk.

"Boss! We gots Problems! Chuck just got waxed by a bunch of kids!" Lenny reported hystericly.

The man stopped his typing and looked up to Lenny.

"And the girl?" The man asked, simply not caring about the other subordinate.

"She got away with the kids and I don't know whe-GAAAAAA!!!!" Lenny screamed in pain as his upper torso was cleaved in two. The boss was on his desk holding a long sword that had been pulled out of the ether. However, not a single drop of blood came from Lenny's corpse the blade had cauterized the wound instantly with sheer Spirit energy.

"I do not tolerate failure, you are insignificant and replaceable. You will not be missed." The Boss coldly stated as he disintegrated his sword back into nothingness and resumed his seat at his desk. He pressed a button on his desk which accessed an Intercom system built into the building. "Would Gary please report to my office?"

A minute later, an orange ogre, similar to size and shape to Lenny and Chuck stepped into the Boss's office. "I need you to repossess someone for me Gary. Your target is Bleu. She has no last name and is a Lamia from Demon world who has stopped paying her rent. Tomorrow she will be at the local Highschool taking classes. I want you to get her by any means necessary. This is what she looks like in Human form." The boss turned his laptop around and showed Gary a picture of Bleu. "Bring her to me by sundown tomorrow or you will end up exactly like my former friend Lenny here." The boss gestured down to Lenny's corpse.

"No problem Boss, I got it covered. She'll never see me coming." Gary Smirked as he turned and left the Boss's office, paying no heed to Lenny's corpse whatsoever. Maybe the boss was right. Maybe Lenny really wouldn't be missed...

There wasn't much that Alex could do as he watched Damien storm off. Normally he would go after him, but unfortunately Alex didn't quite feel willing to leave Sonny lying on the floor just yet.

Besides, he had a lot of thinking to do with Jason's question. There was also something about Ms. Tanya being out of town that bothered him, but he couldn't put his finger on it, something poking at the back of his mind.

But Alex had to push that out of his mind for now. Was it really O.K. for Bleu to stay? She wasn't even human after all, and yet...

After several seconds of rough thinking he eventually came up with a response. "Yah, sure." He said to Bleu and Jason. "If you want to you can stay here." He then looked at everyone else again. "And if anyone else wants to, then I don't mind if you stay here over night as well. Though I can't offer too much, you're all welcome to treat my home as your own."

Voicing the decision almost seemed to make it the right one in Alex's mind. He had made the choice so all he had to do was follow through with it, no more worries.

Lina watched, silent as a frustrated Damien practically stormed out of the house, then Jason attempted to call Ms. Tanya, to no apparent success. Then Alex said that anyone wanting to stay over could if they wanted, and she took a moment to think about it.

Her folks wouldn't be home until late, but there was still the housekeeper to think about. Hm....

"I guess I'll stay for a bit longer," she said, finally.

"I... uh... D-Damien..." Sonny mumbled, staring at the door. He hadn't meant to insult him; it just seemed like the concept of going to this "Spirit World" at all, where the demon who had escaped and apparently a whole race of beings like him resided, was a fairly nonsensical - that was the word: "nonsensical" - idea...

If he'd been in his right mind, Sonny usually would have taken consideration to be extra-specially sensitive to word his objections in a pleasant and "Sonny-ish" manner; still, even as insensitive as it must have sounded, he wasn't expecting Damien to react like he did... when he'd grabbed the bat, Sonny had been seriously frightened he'd do something rash, and it was almost a relief when he'd just stormed out and started swinging it at the air, rather than at any handily present transvestites...

Still, Sonny was shaken. When Damien was angry he was scary-angry, and though he told himself he was at an age where he should just man up and take it in stride, "being a man" wasn't one of Sonny's strongest traits. By the time the words Damien was yelling had sunk through Sonny's injury-addled brain there were tears welling up in the corners of his eyes, and though he'd brushed them away as quickly as he could, though the effort was somewhat in vain as they were almost immediately replaced by more.

"If anyone else wants to, then I don't mind if you stay here over night as well."

"I... no. I c-can't." Sonny pushed himself to his feet and shakily set off towards the door. "My mother'll worry about where I am, so I need to go home... thank you for the offer, anyway."

Sonny made it two steps towards the door before collapsing. He made a feeble effort of crawling the rest of the distance, but then his energy escaped him again and he lay there, face-first in the carpet. Ah, well; at least here people couldn't see the tears running down his face.

"I suppose it'd be out of the question for me to ask someone to carry me...?" Sonny asked feebly. Of course it would. His house was at least an hour and a half in the direction they had just come, and there was no way anyone would be willing to carry someone that distance, however weedy a teenager they may be. In addition to this, Sonny wasn't too keen on the idea of explaining the origin of these injuries to his mother... the longer he could delay that, the better.

"Uh... I suppose I may be forced to stay the night, I'm afraid, Alex. Might I possibly borrow your telephone?"

Angelo spent most of the time in the house thinking, as normal. Jason's explosion of anger gave him a jolt awake and back into reality, as weird as it had become. Creatures from another world paying to enter ours through shady deals? This seemed to be like some sort of Fairy Tale with an Organised Crime twist.

"And if anyone else wants to, then I don't mind if you stay here over night as well." Alex offered.

Angelo shook his head in reply, "It's kind of you, and I appreciate the offer, but my family worries. Sorry."

Alex nodded to Angelo. "Sure, I understand." Alex felt a slight twinge in his heart at the comment though. These days there weren't so many who would worry about him if he didn't come home.

Still, Alex still had Sonny to worry about who seemed quite determined to rip himself apart before he'd even recovered from his beating. Alex knelt beside the prone classmate and offered his hands to help Sonny up. "No problem. There's a phone here," he motioned over to the nearby wall, "or one in the kitchen." Alex said, considering that Sonny might not want to have the conversation in front of everyone.

Sonny wiped his face on the carpet, brushing most of the stray tears off. "Um... thank you, Alex. I hope I'm not imposing or anything... God, that must get really irritating, mustn't it? I'm always apologizing for things, and saying "I hope" this and that; if it was me, I'd get bored of it! Oh dear, I'm saying all this out loud! I really took a blow to the head, didn't I...?"

Sonny took Alex's hand and was hoisted up to his feet. He was hesitant to say anything at all, lest the floodgates open once more, but that wasn't going to work. Okay, if he just thought really hard about all the things he wasn't going to say, he should be able to work out a sentence. Yep, that made perfect sense to the probably-concussed Sonny.

"I find you attractive," Sonny said, then slapped himself hard across the face. "Aah! I, uh, um, uh... phone! Yes please!" Sonny span around on his heel, almost toppled over, waved his arms to maintain his balance and staggered off into the kitchen, where he promptly burst into tears again.

Head injuries weren't much fun. Sonny made a mental note not to make a habit of obtaining them in the future.
