"Hey, Ms. Tanya...you said yesterday that you could feel my spiritual energy spiking outside...is that due to some sort of device or technique...or is that a part of your own spiritual power? Could we learn to do something like that?"

"Yes, the ability to detect Spirit Energy is something all 'Spiritually Aware' people, like us can learn, however..." Karen started, intentionally cutting Ms. Tanya off before she could answer, while continuing to write "How effectively a given person will be able to sense the energy of those around then depends on how aware they are naturally, also, there are ways one can hide or reduce they're Spiritually presence. Specialized training can over come this of course, but like all forms of training, time is naturally an issue." Karen finishing her letter and folding it in half for now "If time allows I do suggest we all under go such training though, it can prove invaluable for how simple a skill it is."

"Alright, just had to make sure...thanks for clearing that up.",

"Of course. No problem."

After all, he didn't want to get off on the wrong foot with his peers as well as his teacher. Gotta have someone on your side, right? Well, in any case, Ms. Tanya decided to make her entrance, bubbly as ever. Shiro would have felt immediately angered by this if not for...well...his better disposition this morning. He had patience, and he was going to keep it right now, at least until something intolerable happened. He was a kinder fellow tempered by people who were a bit more swift in action. Knowing sort of what was cooking for today, Shiro filled out the permission slip, and then smiled when he heard...

"If you all have any questions, feel free to ask and I will answer truthfully this time, no more hiding things from you."

...because he had actually prepared for this in spades. As he got up from his seat to turn in his form, the young man pulled out another sheet of paper - folded and bent from having been in there for a while from his pocket and neatly placed it on top of his permission slip. His smile just now was a bit sly.

"At your convenience."

Shiro returned to his seat and waited. That paper contained a list of questions that he had come up with.

Who and what are you, really?

What are your powers?

Who do you work for?

How large is this group of yours?

What do they want us for?

Are any of you even human? If not, what kind of beings are you?

Why was the arcade machine yesterday haunted?

Why are you so keen to know anything and everything about our powers?

Do you or your associates know anything of our backgrounds?

How long have you or your associates been watching us in order to put us together in this class?

Are you aware that any of us could have accidentally hurt someone with our powers yesterday?

Why all the great secrecy if you can apparently conceal all knowledge of spiritual power from regular people so easily?

Quinn listed as Cody suggested Karen remain calm. All Quinn could think was "Killjoy". Truth told, he and Gail were probably right but... well she had no intention of calling off the prank. Ms. Tanya could declare herself the second coming of Jesus, here to redeem to souls of the world an she'd still be planning a prank; heck she'd find a way to work a Judas joke into the prank if she could.

Terrible person: probably. Hell-of-a-lot of fun: most definitely.

Speaking of the devil (or possibly Jesus), Ms. Tanya took that moment to enter the room.

"Good morning everyone!!!" Ms. Tanya announced to everyone in the class.; her voice far too chipper for the first class of the morning. She glanced around and continued; "Congratulations to all of you! You have all awakened your powers! And now... I want each of you to sign this permission form. Since you all lived up to your end of the bargain, I will certainly live up to mine". A moment later, she tore out a pile of papers.

"If you all have any questions, feel free to ask and I will answer truthfully this time, no more hiding things from you. Now please, sign the forms so that we can be on our way. We have a very big day planned." she finished. It was about this point Quinn was considering the possibility that Ms. Tanya had awoken the mystic power to drive students to constant anger.

Quinn glanced the paper over then turned it over without signing it. Despite her general distaste for Ms. Tanya, the reason wasn't personal. The last thing she planned on doing was signing a paper handed to her by someone with obvious supernatural connections. There were FAR too many stories of devils with Faustian contracts to make signing a magical paper worth the risk. She couldn't help but feel worried for the principal; hopefully his soul was still his own.

Still, Quinn asked her major question. "What makes you think I've got some awakened power? As far as I know, I haven't experienced anything out of the ordinary."

Ms. Tanya was quite prepared for the onslaught of questions she was about to face, grinning from ear to ear as Lina broke the ice.

"Okay, who do you work for, really?"

"Well thats an easy one, I work for a toddler in the other world, much to my dismay. As crazy as that seems, its about to get crazier from here on out. And I can only feel sorry for you kids, getting flung into this whole new world. But, we don't have much choice. We NEED you." she explained before Gail presented another question.

"Hey, Ms. Tanya...you said yesterday that you could feel my spiritual energy spiking outside...is that due to some sort of device or technique...or is that a part of your own spiritual power? Could we learn to do something like that?"

"You very well could, Its something you learn as you go in our profession really." She explained, trailing off as Karen explained the question right down to the bare bones. "Well, Karen gave a better explanation than I did." she smiled, looking at the piece of paper that listed off so many questions

"Hmm...I was wondering when one of you would ask who I was~" she giggled and smiled to them, snapping her fingers beside her. As soon as she snapped, a large cloud of smoke appeared beside her, once it disappated, there was a large oar in her hand. She held it out in front of her and took a seat on it, smiling brightly. "My name is not Ms. Tanya. Its Botan. And I Have to ask, are any of you religious at all? If so, I'm going to change your life forever from this point on~" she smiled to them, her normally brown hair fading to a light blue color. "As for WHAT I am, I guess i'm the equivalent of what you all would call a Grim Reaper~" she said with a wide grin, knowing that would get a rise out of them, floating idly around above their heads on the oar. "Now, is there anything else you'd like to ask? I don't have time to answer everything on that list Shiro, i'm sorry. Most of your questions are about to be answered anyways as soon as we get going."

Cody had said his piece but before he could hear what Karen had to say, Ms. Tanya entered which meant it was time for homeroom to start. He moved to his desk with a slight frown and took a seat quickly so as not to miss anything important. At first Cody was shocked to see that the principals signature was on the permission slip for such a suspicious field trip but when Ms. Tanya mentioned that he didn't know what he was signing it made a lot more sense. The act was suspicious, but no more so than anything else Ms. Tanya had done so Cody didn't hesitate to sign the permission slip.

A few of the others took Ms. Tanya up on her offer to answer all their questions fully and truthfully, but Cody chose to remain silent during this time. They were supposedly going to see the head of whatever organization that Ms. Tanya represented and it seemed more reliable to get the answers he wanted straight from this person instead of one of their underlings.

However, Ms. Tanya claiming that she was actually named Botan and was the Grim Reaper changed his mind a bit. The concept seemed a bit absurd and he couldn't help but ask a question in light of this new development. "The Grim Reaper? Shouldn't you be busy taking the souls of the dead to the underworld rather than recruiting high schoolers with powers?"

Toddler? 'Grim Reaper'?

Karen could only sigh when she heard this "Well that answers any thing I would had to ask" Karen said, the 'nobility' oddly absent from her tone, though that was quickly reigned in. Karen pondered all this a moment, well, while ripping the note for Cody she had all written up, it was now moot after all. Karen pulled out her phone and relayed this information via text, when something struck her as off "Why me? If you do know about my family then recurring me is a waste of time, I'd ether end fighting demons anyway, or training the next generation of hunters since unlike the rest of the class I 'don't have any powers' so to speak, or would it be safe to assume the reactivation of the old Dragon Armor is the real goal?" 'Though if they need the armor reactivated, things must be worse then I originally thought'

BAMF! Suddenly, Ms. Tanya changed the game and both altered her appearance and manifested an...oar? Her hair changed, and her demeanor...remained the same. However, it was very obvious that this woman was not only abnormal in a more overt sense, but that she was definitely not human. Of course, this was confirmed by saying that she worked for a 'toddler' and was apparently a 'grim reaper'.

"I have to say, you're not very grim or even slightly reaper-like."

She also asked if any of them were particularly religious. Well, ever since he met Saiga, he was actually kind of on the fence there. You see, the happenings of his life were easily able to shake one's faith in anything, but then his friends - Max and Anri - were rather zen and spiritual. Whether did this knowing their their mother was a LITERAL FOX BEING was unknown to Shiro, but he suspected that they were in on it and keeping him out for the time being, much like Saiga. He had to wonder if someone a thousand years old would know of people like Botan and that this was eventually going to happen to him.

"Now, is there anything else you'd like to ask? I don't have time to answer everything on that list Shiro, i'm sorry. Most of your questions are about to be answered anyways as soon as we get going."

"Ummm, question number seven, then, about the arcade machine. Pretty sure it was possessed."

Then, he finally noticed what was bothering him just now, which was the vacancy on his wrist.

"Hey, does anybody else have their spirit bracelet? Mine's missing and I don't remember taking it off."

Huh... That was odd.

Quinn watched on as Ms. Tan- rather Botan revealed herself as... well something. She wasn't quite ready to accept her as the Grim Reaper; particularly without some kind of proof. Similarly, there was now NO way she was going to sign the contract. Either she was a Demon out for some unknown gain or she really was Death herself in which case... who knew what kind of tricks were up her sleeves.

The blue hair and the lack of scythe similarly left her... well confused.

"I've got a question." she said slowly, still thinking it through. "Did you say you work for a toddler? How does... how does that even work? Also, My question before; what makes you think I've got any powers because, as far as I know, I don't."

Quinn wanted to ask for proof of Botan's claims, but let it slide for the moment.

"Thanks, Karen..."

Gail lowered her head a bit after saying that, she was slightly annoyed that her question had been so easily answered by Karen, she wanted to at least feel like she was contributing, plundering the depths of Ms. Tanya's knowledge in search of hidden information...which wasn't all that hidden if Karen had so easily answered it, now that she thought about it. She let out a sigh before raising her head back up, resolve renewed on her heart. So she asked an easily answerable question, she still hadn't know so there was no shame in her mind for asking it. It just meant that she was still new to this spirit power stuff...

Even more evident now that Ms. Tanya turned into some blue haired girl named Botan...and started floating on a oar in the room like a madwoman. Oddly, the first second she saw it, she immediately though more about trying to take a ride on it than the weirdness of why a grim reaper had an oar in the first place...before wondering how you take orders from a toddler, is it just.really big or can it communicate through morse code?

Shiro's question pulled her out of that train of thought before it could get too far away from the topic at hand, asking about the bracelets from yesterday.

"Um...i guess i lost mine, or it came off in my sleep, i just don't know...should i be concerned?"

Brian, half-awake, almost subconsciously filed everything he was hearing away to be considered later. Ms. Tanya was really "Botan", working for some toddler in another world, and she's a grim reaper; it all sounded so..."out there" that on any other day Brian would be tempted to write a story about it, maybe a series. However, after practicing with his powers, and seeing a demon with his own eyes less than a day ago, it became quite easy to accept.

So, barely lifting his head above the desk, Brian whipped his pen over the permission slip and signed his name.

Botan hopped off of her oar and collected all of the forms and placed them in her purse. "Alrighty then! Lets be off!!!" Botan clapped as she moved to the doorway. However, instead of opening it, she locked it.

"As for my job as a reaper...you all are about to get a first hand experience of what I do~ I promise you won't ever forget it~" she giggled a bit.

"Excuse me, Ms. Tanya? Er. Botan, but where exactly are we going?" Jason asked. When he saw her lock the door, he couldn't help but feel uneasy.

"Why, to Spirit World of course! Now don't resist or anything, this won't hurt a bit!" Botan Smiled evilly as she pulled a small tube of purple fluid from her purse. "See you in a minute!" She giggled as she smashed the tube against the floor of the classroom. Instantly, a massive volume of purple gas swept through the room, consuming all of the students, but never leaving the classroom, as if there was a barrier around the entire room keeping it in.

Jason coughed and gagged against the purple haze. Within a few seconds, his eyesight began to fade and his eyes rolled back into his head as he collapsed on his desk. The same exact fate befell all of the students, none were spared from the deadly haze. Every last one of their hearts slowly stopped beating, leaving them dead on their desks.

"Hee hee hee! I bet they are going to give me quite the earful when I tell them why I did that." Botan laughed cheerfully to herself as she disappeared from the physical human world.

Game Over everyone. Pack up and go home~
Just kidding guys, Keep reading.

Dammit all! Why the fuck did I have to come to school on the day that the teacher pulls a Deus Ex and tries to kill us all!? I should have stayed home... Jason thought to himself as he drifted off into a deep sleep...

His consciousness returned to him after a few minutes. He looked around and saw that he was still in the classroom, but something was really off... more off than Ms. Tanya/Botan being missing and everyone in the classroom unconscious, but he couldn't quite put his finger on what was so incredibly wrong with this picture. After staring for a minute. Jason looked down and screamed in a very unmanly way at what he saw. Himself. Rather, his body, slumped over on his desk much like his comrades.

"W-W-w-w-wait...If thats my body, then that must mean...I'M A GHOST!?!?!?!" Jason cried as he finally figured it out.

"Bingo! Bingo! You got it! You're dead!" Botan cheered for Jason as he figured out his situation.

"D-Dead!?!! But I can't be dead yet!!! I haven't gotten laid yet!" Jason stammered in disbelief as he hovered over his body. However, he quickly calmed down as he saw Botan. She had ditched the Brunette School-teacher outfit in exchange for a pink Kimono and bright blue hair!!! "Your hair....Its BLUE!?"

"Ahahahaha!!!" Botan nearly fell off of her oar laughing at Jason's first observation of her. "Aha *Sniff* Yes, aha, my hair is blue, this is what I truly look like when I'm on the job. My title as a reaper is more like a guide really, I find the souls of the dead and guide them to the afterlife."

"I see..." Jason nodded even though he was clueless.

"Lets hope the others wake up before long" Botan gestured to the ghosts of all of Jason's classmates hovering above their respective corpses.

Lina blinked. Seeing their teacher pull a wooden oar out of nowhere and start flying was difinetly out of the ordinary. But considering all she had been through the previous day...

And the teacher said her name was really Botan, an odd name in of itself. It sounded... vaugely Japanese, in fact.

Sheesh, this whole thing keeps getting weirder and weirder...

"Now don't resist or anything, this won't hurt a bit!"See you in a minute!"

"Wait, what do you mean by-" she began to say, but was cut of when she tossed a canister to the floor, sending up a cloud of choking purple smoke.

Her survival instincts kicked in, and Lina got to her feet, attempting to escape, but the gas or smoke or whatever overwhelmed her, and she collapsed to the floor.

No... this can't be... how it ends... Those were her last thoughts before everything faded to black...

---

For a moment, there was only darkness. Then her consciousness slowly crept back in and Lina opened her eyes. Her thoughts were hazy, yet she could tell that something was seriously off here, but she couldn't tell what.

Then she looked down at her motionless form, lying crumpled on the floor, and did what any reasonable person would do in her situation... freak out.

"WHAT THE HELL?!"

Karen watched as Botan collected the slips and locked the doors again.

"Now don't resist or anything, this won't hurt a bit!"See you in a minute!" Botan said in a much more cheerful tone then one should have for what followed. They're 'teacher' tossed something onto the floor that shattered, releasing a purple fog into the room. Karen's first instinct was to strike Botan down but lost her in the fog, with her and her class mates coughing she every thing faded to black.

---

Karen coughed a little as she came back around, her eyes lazily opening Whats that? ... oh ... just me ..."THE FUCK?!?" Karen said in shock of seeing her life less body crumpled on the floor by her desk. She quickly zeroed in on Botan's location in the room, "WHAT DID YOU DO TO US?!" Karen said as she raised a hand in front of her to form a weapon, though something else distracted her before said weapon could form, her hand looked different. Her right hand, and upon inspection, her left as well was covered in a metallic, white 'scale' with each finger ending in a silver claw, her legs where the same, whats more, she noticed her skirt was sitting oddly, the reason making it self clear as it swayed into view, she had a tail, covered in the same scales as her arms and legs.

"The hell is this ...." she said as she felt her face, and head, all of which felt normal save finding a small pair of horns on her lower jaw, and two larger ones that started behind her ears and went back a good foot by her estimate, the sudden shock of all this was over whelming, and she just drooped for a moment, bringing her wings into view 'sure, why not, wings, tail, horns ... yay for me being some kinda monster on the inside' she thought as she just kinda floated there, finishing her inspection of her spirit form, thankfully finding her self to still have a human shape, despite all the changes, though unsure what to think of this sudden revelation about her self or, being dead for that matter.

It took Karen a few minutes to compose her self "What have you done to us?! To me?! I Demand An Answer!!" she finally commanded.

Karen's 'hybrid' human/dragon spirit form is an unknown side effect of the gauntlets bonding process.

"Now don't resist or anything, this won't hurt a bit!"See you in a minute!" Botan said, tossing a vial of purple gas into the room.

"Wait! You still haven't answered my-" Quinn started to say before the choking started. She tried to make her way to the window; to break it and escape but to no avail. She managed to life one of the desks to throw it into the window before her strength faded and she found herself... floating.

She was dead. "D-Dead!?!! But I can't be dead yet!!! I haven't gotten laid yet!" Jason said, mirroring her thoughts... or at least the first part. She wasn't so concerned about the last part.

Quinn took a moment to look around. The most obvious thing she could see was Karen's... odd look. "Is that a side effect of her powers?" she wondered, before moving on. Botan apparently had changed clothes and hair color. "Blue hair... what is this, a Japanese Cartoon?" she continued her appraisal, before moving on. She'd pay Botan back soon enough. The next thing she noticed was her own body; currently pinned to the ground in an awkward position under the desk she'd lifted. "That's... gonna hurt tomorrow... assuming I get my body back." She continued glancing around, but saw little else out of place; at least until the other ghosts manifested.

What Quinn failed to see were the pitch black blotches on what would have been her skin stretching up from beneath her shirt up her neck and onto her chin; ending below her mouth.

The blotches are the influence of the Rosary

"Um...i guess i lost mine, or it came off in my sleep, i just don't know...should i be concerned?"

"Not sure. Maybe."

Not long after this and a couple more questions - left unanswered, we might add - Botan, as she was called, decided to move onto the next step by locking the door out. Wait, what? Weren't they going on a field trip or something? Still her delightful self, she made some sort of remark about showing them the nature of her Grim Reaper job and telling them not to resist. And before anyone could ask what, exactly, the answer came in the form of a-

-which seemed to be causing people to collapse. Shiro, for one, actually held his breath for a moment, considering his options as his fellow classmates dropped where they stood or sat. Truth is, he wasn't given many options. Even if this were a double cross, which didn't seem likely at this point, trying to run Botan through wasn't going to work out very well if she was already dead. Might hurt, but that was it. So, he let his breath go and decided to see what this Spirit World business was about...

>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

He 'awoke' to a feeling of weightlessness. This was, of course, because that's precisely what his condition appreared to be. He was sitting a couple of inches above his body when he came to. Naturally, there was an initial flinch and flail of motion before he realized that this sensation wasn't going to end with him falling and getting hurt. Shiro looked down, saw his body sitting there with its head on the desk, and...poked at it. Well, no. That's not exactly true. His hand went right through it, which...seemed to be in line with what Jason was yelling about. Shiro put himself into a standing position and attempted to walk. Instead, he was moving in place, going nowhere fast.

Okay, this is a problem. I'm having an out-of-body experience, the back of my head aches, and I don't know how to move.

OF course, as soon as he thought about moving, he started hovering in the direction he'd wanted to, which was close enough to poke Jason and, yes, find out that the ghosts weren't ghosted to each other. However, looking around, it seemed that a couple of his peers at least had something up with them, Karen most emphatic about her current appearance...which was strange, to say the least. Quinn also had these strange black marks. He wondered why that had happened, not aware that the pain in the back of his skull was the centerpoint of a small issue HE had. It was not visible on the surface of things, not yet. However, it was there, and it seemed to make his spine pulsate. Shiro looked over at Botan, who was of course on her oar.

"You probably should've asked if any of us needed the restroom first. I don't, but if we're gone for long...well, you know. Anyway, wasn't there a better way to do this?"

Gail had zoned out after Shiro answered her question panicked when the purple smoke filled the room but wasn't able to do much in the time allotted, mostly just get out of her desk and flail around. She collapsed on the floor and passed out as well...

...and then woke up,a few moments later as the smoke dispersed. She didn't feel too bad, certainly not like she had fallen on the floor and colapsed. She felt...floaty, like she had slept upside-down and all of the blood was rushing back to her head now that she was upright. The problem was that she hadn't passed out upside-down so that couldn't be an explanation for why she felt that way. She saw her body sprawled out on the floor, said, "Hey.", and turned around t-WHAT?!

A double-take isn't really that accurate a word for what she did but then again, no word in the English language was, so that's what we'll say she did that. Looking around, she saw that the other students were feeling somewhat similar to the shock that she was feeling.

'I'm dead. That's it. The final chapter of my life is over...Shiro seems to think that this is temporary, i guess...hope he's right.', she thought, floating in the air. She really didn't have anything to say, being more worried and confused than anything else...oh wait, there was one thing...

"So...we're getting our bodies back, right?"

Before Cody could react, Botan had already locked the door to the classroom and smashed a suspicious vial on the ground. Cody quickly stood up as the purple smoke began to fill the room. "Wh-what are you doi-" Was all he managed to stammer out before the gas filled his lungs and he began coughing. Dammit... I guess I really messed up by asking everyone to trust Ms. Tanya... Sorry guys... Cody thought as his vision started to fade and he collapsed onto the floor.

Cody awoke later to find himself still in the classroom oddly enough. Knockout gas? Fell asleep and it was all just a weird dream? After a quick look around the room Cody saw the others floating in the air with their bodies also sprawled out on the floor and desks. Cody rubbed his eyes to make sure he wasn't still half asleep, but upon looking down that he too was floating over his own body. So he wasn't just feeling light-headed, he was actually floating! And some sort of ghost on top of that as far as he could tell.

So Botan had killed them then?! She was still in the classroom as well, though her hair and clothing had changed to match her flippant personality. Cody would have thought it suited her well if he wasn't furious with her for having killed him. But something about the situation seemed so off... This was a rather elaborate ruse to go through just to kill some high school students. Shiro and Gail seemed to be thinking along the same line, so Cody decided to give Botan a chance to explain herself.

And if he didn't get an answer he liked, then nothing would stop him from getting revenge. He owed Karen and the others that much at least if he was partly responsible for getting them all killed.

The others started to come around as well, and Karen's gaze shift from the anime cosplay 'reaper', Botan, to Quinn who seemed to have black spots on her neck and lower jaw. It took Karen a moment to figure out how to float in any given direction but soon enough she was close enough to pat Quinn once on the shoulder. "You ok? You don't look so good" motioning to Quinn's neck and chin.

"You ok? You don't look so good" Karen said, coming over to her and pointing at her neck. Quinn tried to look but she couldn't turn her head to look at herself in such a way. She tried to feel her neck, but couldn't feel anything wrong. Finally, she spoke up. "I feel fine. Well, aside from being dead I mean." Quinn pointed at Karen's... well everything and asked much the same. "What about you?"

"Very confused" Karen replied to Quinn's question. "I mean, besides being murdered" Karen shooting Botan a very pointed look "I'm confused as to whats with all the scales and stuff" she said with a sigh "But I'm more worried about those black spots you've got, it can't mean anything good" Karen looked at the bodies on the floor stopping at Quinn's "That can not feel good" pointing to the desk that had her friend smushed to the floor.
