Sailing was already the best part of AC3 so I'm kinda glad they made a game about it.

This series is yet another example of neither the fans nor the Publishers/Developers knowing when a franchise needs to be laid to rest.
Those bloody tailing missions, i swear every story mission started with a tailing prod. In fact i am even stuck on a particular one right now. Fuck you tails! And yes i mean that friend of sonic too, with his whiny, high maintenance bullshit!

Good to see everyone knows what Ubisoft is doing with the Assassin's creed franchise. They don't care about the story, the plot, the narrative, or resolution. They just plan to milk it until the milk runs dry and then maybe they will reboot it or something.

I'll probably pick it up at some point and treat it like a standalone game, since I enjoyed the sailing in AC3 (and Wind Waker...), but I'm getting increasingly tired of the series main plot (which rather lost it's way after the end of Brotherhood). So, Pirates!

Yeah, this franchise is a huge cash cow at this point, but generally the entries are well crafted & polished, running through historical locations and stuff is consistently fun and the campaign always gives you bang for the buck. I guess my point is... well, good, keep 'em coming, please.
They're making a movie out of the first game soon so we can expect the same deal all over... in the big screen.synobal said:
This is why I stopped playing at Revelations; this series just keeps going on and on with nothing particularly coherent to add. You know they only churned Black Flag out because people liked that one new element they added in 3, so it's not like Ubisoft even have a long term plan for this series.

It's kind of sad how assassin's creed pretty much can never end.
I understand why they want it that way and it does mean they can keep telling stories, but it also means they can't ever have anything be "final" at the end. Witch means we have almost no chance of getting closure.
Maybe they can though. After all. Metal Gear has been going on for even longer, had an end with "final closure", and still has games coming out. Some from the main story, and some branching out.
That said, with how frequently they want to release AC games, I'm kind of worried about how long they can keep doing that until they run out of ideas for new things to do with it.
I guess we at least don't have to wait too long to find out.

Don't be, AC4 is really fun, and surprisingly non iterative for a series that's on its 5th game. "AssCreed" is nothing more than a recognizable brand name by now, they just make cool shit and call them AC.
