Well fair enough, I recently picked up "All-star Superman" and had a lot of fun with that, despite the fact that it had tons of continuity nods that went completely over my head.
That's... weird, considering All-Star is a standalone series outside of regular canon.

Not that I necessarily disagree with the overall point. Though my personal problem is keeping up with the fragmented storylines over a billion books. I'd rather get a trade.

Great review as always. Enough sucking up, main point.

/lol @ this game, poppycock it is, we have this game done better without all the fancy copyright bull and better everything, go away.

Do we really need anything else?

Great review, and it's just added to the mounting evidence that this game is not for me. Ever since i grew out of dynasty warriors (yeah i know they're still good games but i got bored of bashing the same buttons over and over again) i've stayed away from button mashers. Besides, if i wanted to play as a superhero, i'd go play arkham asylum!

What? Yes that IS the actual bodyframe of a Lincoln Continental.

Yes, I've replaced the engine-block with a turbocharged Jet-Turbine.

So then basically most of your issues are stuff that Champions online had done well?

Amazing hero creator, great power selection, and it focuses on you, not the really famous guys.

I wish Cyrptic had just focused on it more instead of making this one.
Except, you know, Cryptic has nothing to do with DCUO.

Yeah, but it's Grant Morrison doing a tribute to Superman. He's made 3 references to obscure Silver Age stuff before he even eats breakfast.

And I say that as someone who liked his Batman opus.

Sorry, I mixed up this with star trek online.

When I saw the awesome trailer before the game came out, I didn't know it was for an MMO. As it is, I'm just a tiny bit disappointed in this whole thing.

His review doesn't make it any more appealing. But it was an amusing one and I like.

I got that infinite crisis joke at the end and laughed, and then I felt horribly pathetic and ashamed of myself and started crying.

WoW's next victim: The Old Republic
Actually, I've tried to get into WoW 3 or 4 different times, but can't.

I cannot stop playing DCUO. Its fun, and its new. And Big. The queue for quests, alerts and events is nonexistant if you play with a few friends. Classic mmo grind though, go here, k.o. fifteen droogs in denim, collect prize. get better gear cause why? Cause f*ck you thats why.

I am hoping for more dynamic quests like the ones in FFXI where you really have to prepare, because your chances are slim to none of winning, and if you F*CK up, you can't just pop back in, oh no. It'll take you a few quests to prepare again.
Oh yeah, and fishing. Give us fishing (not very comic booky, i'd wager)

...uhh and other crafting, i guess. (I was an FFXI fisherman)

in detraction, there are a bunch of bugs that I'm sure the team is working on (i.e. exploits), and many already fixed (queue time! hooray). However. Menu lag = the suck.

I'm expecting more locales with expansions, but meh I've been let down before. I'm still enjoying it. Actually, let me journey home so I can log on, I have town that needs savin'

Ummm its also SoE's best selling game yet. Theres plenty to do, and alot of people are enjoying it, quite possibly your friend.

But sure, knock yourself out rubbing your friend.

Very funny this week, I would probably consider playing this if my PC could handle it.
The game is actually fun (was in beta), but i heard that you could get to max level in 1-2 weeks and there wasn't much endgame content.
Yes, there is a ton of content after you get to thirty. The game pretty much takes off at 30. I have so much work to do, and it's gonna be awesome, but I gotta help a bunch of ppl lvl up first. Someone once said when asked about the lack of ingame tutorial, "Getting to lvl 30 IS the tutorial".

Loved watching that review, though I pretty much knew DC Universe Online wouldn't be worth caring about. First of all, I pretty much saw the whole "City of heroes"-copy coming, because if there's one thing comic-companies are famous for, it's that they grind through the same stuf over DECADES, so big chance of seeing something new.
And second, I saw the cinematic trailer. Yes, the one where all the average chipmunks said "Woah, awesome, it has 'splosions!" The whole thing was horrible. They basically lined up some famous super-thingies and made them channel "Last Man Standing" and that Punisher-movie with John Travolta. Yeah, f*** all those hints of personality all those characters somehow maintained through years of horrible writing and retcons, now they just want to horribly rape each other.
Also, best decision ever: Make a gritty, pseudo-realistic, murderous intro and then introduce a guy with a name like "Brainiac" as the ultimate villain.
In that context:
"Oh, it's Superman, the friendly hero from next door, protector of the innocent, shining example to an entire generation, preserver of life and all that's goo-OH MY GOD, HE MELTED HIS FACE! WHY?! THAT LOOKS SO PAINFUL, SWEET MERCY!"

I liked the game enough from a fan perspective and I think the game rewarded fans of the comics more then the average joe looking for a MMO to play. I did enjoy the mission structure and the music fits perfectly with the cityscape.
