Zombie Apocalypse RPG 2.0 (New characters always welcome)

<spoiler=Reilster>Just post by the general time of everyone else. Also, It's good that you figured out the mystery of the awesome boxes. They're actually called spoilers.

With Nikki safe inside, Vinny begins to close the door. When it is only cracked open, he notices something. There is a much larger pack of zombies down the street. They're sprinting down the road at full speed. "Thompson, look at this." Vinny exclaims. "What?" Thompson asks. He shows up at the door and peers outside. "Oh shit." he mutters. At this point, the sprinters have reached the doors and are pushing slower zombies out of the way. "They're trying to get us first!" Vinny shouts. The fast zombies reach they door and, amazingly, the first ones in line begin reaching for the handle. Vinny and Thompson pull back on the inner handles, resulting in a demented tug-of-war. "We need a little assistance here!" Vinny shouts.

OOC: I'm pretty sure it's twilight for the main group as well, unless I missed something.

 

[Flying-Emu]

Terrence chuckles in a nearly high-pitched whine, and removes his pistol from his pocket. Slowly, deliberately, he ignores Vinny's calls for help and slides past him. With a little chuckle, he slips his hand outside the door and fires.

The door hangs suspended for a moment as Terrence swiftly withdraws his arm, grimacing as he wanders back to the table. As he flops into the chair, the door slams shut.

"Goddamn, Terrence." Vinny says as he and Thompson bar the door. He turns toward the newcomer. "Nikki, you said your name was? We'll have time to trade info later. It's not safe here." As he says this, glass shatters in the adjoining room. Hands shoot through the gaps in the boarded up window, their long fingernails turning the screws that are holding the boards in place. Vinny turns toward the group. "Okay, we're getting the hell outta here, regardless of whether or not you wanna stay."

 

[Flying-Emu]

"About damn time." Terrence mutters. "Lead the way. I don't know my way around here."

 

[Sosakitty]

Vinny turns toward Rayne. "You suggested that we leave in the first place, so I guess it's only fair that you lead the way."

 

[Higurashi]

Rayne nodded solemnly. Drawing her gun, she slowly opened the back door when a swarm of crows soar by with a crashing sound, throwing her back in shock. She takes the door with her, slamming it shut.

"Hrm... I suppose we will have to put that on hold."

She sighs and holsters her handgun.

"We might as well find our respective places to sleep then. I and Thompson have the first and last watch, starting as everyone goes to sleep, and we'll do a schedule of the following. Try to get as much sleep as possible. If you find you got a bad turn, we'll make it up to you in the next schedule. Okay everyone?"

OOC: Seems like a good time for some dream sequences...

"Sounds good. I don't even remember the last time I slept." Vinny says. "I'll take the next watch with Liz." He flops down on the couch in the living area, with Liz doing the same. "And now we get to just sit and wait. That's just great."

 

[Higurashi]

"You're welcome to do whatever you want as long as it doesn't endanger or work against the well-being of anyone else. If it does, I'll take you down before you know it."

Rayne gained a piercing cold gaze, and remained on a chair, observing every square-inch of the room with her back against a wall.

She whispered to Thompson, standing next to her.
I'm not sure it's a good idea to have only civilians in a guard post pair. Maybe we should include an officer in every guard pair.

Veronica nodded along, assuming the others knew this place better than she did, then curled up in her jacket. "I don't know about you guys, but it'll be great to actually sleep for once, not just... stay awake until I pass out." She managed a smile as she inspected the others. Quite the bunch, she thought to herself.

She put her backpack under her head, realizing at the slight crunching sound it made that she still had some chips and cookies stored in there. "Anyone hungry? I have some snacks. Nothing to drink, though." She took out a bag of chips and waited to see if there were any takers. Nikki put on her warmest, kindest smile to show she was sincere, worried that she might look like a madwoman from the way she was dressed and lack of hygiene at the moment.

 

[Higurashi]

"Sure. Thanks hun."
Rayne reaches her open hand out to the woman.

"I'm glad you can get some rest. I'm sure you need it, as do everyone else. Oh, you can get water from the sink in the toilet back here."
She brandishes an uncharacteristic gentle smile to her.
"And like I said before, we have showers. Might be a good idea to take advantage of that while you can."
Rayne seemed to think for a few seconds before she leaned back in her chair with some chips.
"What the hell. You know what? You can have one of the leftover uniforms if you like. You look like you might need it."
She said while eyeing her.

"You said your name was Nikki, right? I had a friend once who was called that. Only called though. She was a hooker."
Rayne seemed to smile in remembrance.

Vinny slumps in his seat, too tired to notice the junk food being shared by Rayne and Nikki.

 

[RapaciousBunny]

Veronica hands Rayne the rest of the bag. "Take all of it, I'm so sick of it." She tugs at her top, queasiness clawing its way towards her. A quirked eyebrow is given in response to the prostitute comment. "Yeah, Nikki, short for Veronica. A shower and a change of clothes sounds amazing! It's been a while."

Nikki closes up her backpack again and gets up. "So, miss... uhm... Think you could show me where it is?" Throwing the backpack around her shoulder, she grins sheepishly. "Those cookies should cover it!"

 

[Flying-Emu]

Terrence kicks backwards, ears perked at the sounds of slamming and moaning coming from just outside.

Turning to Nikki, he manages a warm smile, made slightly morbid by the general raggedness of his appearance. "Hey... I think I remember you. Were you the one that worked at that hair salon? Across the street from the casino?"

 

[RapaciousBunny]

She twirls around to see if she recognizes the speaker. "Yeah!" She makes a typical thinking gesture, a finger on her cheek. "Hmm... You're kind of familiar. Have you been to the salon?" She catches her enthused façade, realizing that all her friends at the salon were dead now, but keeps up the smile, not wanting to be the tip of the iceberg of downers.

 

[Flying-Emu]

Terrence laughs shakily "Yes, I have. I was there not too long before this all happened." He lets out a breath, smiling at Nikki. "It's good to see another familiar face."

 

[RapaciousBunny]

"Yeah! Good to know there's some hope yet!" Nikki looks around at the rest of the group, then returns her attention to Terrence. "If you didn't hear earlier; I'm Nikki. Have you all stuck together long?" The relaxation can clearly be seen setting into Veronica and the more sincere smile returns. "Oh, and I didn't catch your name!"

Oli had decided to sit it out till the morning. He heard on his wind-up that crows were most active at twillight and that zombies now ran, there was a very slim chance he would make it to the supermarket. He sat there chewing on his meal, sausage and beans, and couldn;t wait too leave. But he must resist temptation, he would need to be alive to enjoy company.

He just wished he was able to call home and make sure everything was fine in New York.

Smiling at Nikki, Terrence replied "My name is Terrence. Me and Vinny," he nods towards Vinny's near-sleeping form on the couch "have been together since this thing started." He chuckles slightly. "The rest of them we picked up along the way."

His expression turns to one of curiosity; "How did you survive this long all by yourself?"

 

[Higurashi]

Rayne saw Nikki was now busy in a conversation, and waited for an opening before she replied.
"Ah, Veronica. Much better. Mm, the showers are on the second floor. Up the stairs and to the left. The changing rooms are there, too, so you'll find the uniform there. Now, don't worry; you won't be getting a badge or an emblem."
She blinked to her, and resumed her guard, peering out the window.
