I wonder if there are zombie survival games set in time where guns don't exist. And I'm not talking just retail games, I mean any game, even a flash one. If anyone could give me A link to one of these games, if one exist, I would appreciate.

While I'm not aware of any, I DO like the idea.

If I could play as a Roman Centurion hacking my way through a horde of undead... I donnow, that might just make my fucking day.

None that I know of. The Zombie Survival guide makes mention of several "historical" Zombie combat scenarios and generally a well disciplined military force was able to best the Zombies by using their blades to hack off the head and burning anyone infected or any dead. Game would be cute.

Is there an "Army of Darkness" game? I mean, I know those aren't technically zombies, but I think there's one out there somewhere.

I believe my friend made a game like that.
Essentially it was Gauntlet with zombies.
It was quite the awesomeness.

The closest thing I can think of is Onimusha. It would be cool though, playing as a Greek, Roman, or Persian defending yourself from a horde of undead. I'm all about the Bow & Arrow headshot.

Exactly my point. Any idea of a company that could make a great game in this style, just out of curiously?

I never expected to actually say these words but: I think it might be a job for Sega.

Mostly I say that because this obviously needs to be a game with fantastic first-person melee combat, and their game Condemned: Criminal Origins is about the ONLY game that I've played with anything resembling satisfying melee combat.

I'd rather have a zombie game set in older eras, say WW2. (don't even fucking think about Nazi Zombies that is not a game, it's a bonus mode)

TES 4 Oblivion.
That's...not a zombie game. It has zombies, but it's not a zombie game. You may as well call Final Fantasy VIII a zombie game if you're going to call Oblivion one.

And that's stupid. Don't do that.

Escape from Butcher's Bay, and Assault on Dark Athena had some pretty damn good melee combat. Butcher's Bay more-so, because it was harder to get a gun. That game was made by Starbreeze studios.

I'm sure they could do a good job with the concept of zombies in the middle ages.
I might go and check those games out, I've heard good things about them and at this point the price [http://www.amazon.com/Chronicles-Riddick-Escape-Butcher-Bay-Xbox/dp/B00019HNN2/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=videogames&qid=1263952125&sr=8-1] is right. [http://www.amazon.com/Chronicles-Riddick-Assault-Athena-Xbox-360/dp/B001L18RIE/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=videogames&qid=1263952149&sr=8-1]

But as for the topic at hand, like I said I can only recommend companies with games I've actually played so I'm forced to stay with Sega for now.

...

Feudal Japan VS Zombies might also be pretty bad ass. You'd actually get to use a katana in a game where it FITS AND MAKES SENSE rather than it just being stuck in because the developers were uncreative hacks who thought it would be cool!
