Jack had listened in on their conversation through JD's mind. He spoke to him through their connection.
'They are lying to you already. The notes are as real as either of us, as either of them. The notes were written by one Julia Bixler, the aunt of Adries who you so casually hold, and they were meant to be research notes on her creation of a biological weapon. The weapon is what we know as the virus, and they found it before finding any kind of cure or treatment for its effects. This virus was being developed for the US military under General Kaufman, another Bixler relative, and it got out into the populace. All Bixlers are part of a massive cover up to preserve their family prestige, and to avoid the repercussions of their foolish actions. You will soon meet the newest member of this cover up, his name is Alan Bixler. The Bixlers are the cause of everything from the virus getting out to my own creation, and the notes are the record and proof of that. More importantly though, they are a history of how our species was created, and is much more important as such.
The Bixlers will use the notes to create a cure, kill all of us who were affected by their selfish ways, and then continue to create their weapon for their namesake. I wish to hold the notes as they should be, a history of why we exist and what our purpose is. Just remember if you ever want to know the truth, all you need do is think. Think, and I shall give freely all that I have learned in my own search for the truth. No matter what know this, be wary of a Bixler. They only bring death and despair to those they travel with, even if their companions themselves do not realize it until it is too late. Also know you are never alone, my species cares for its own with its very lives if it must. Should you ever need us, we will protect you with the full ferocity we are given.'
Jack ended his speech to JD and had the leaper he had had stalking the group since they had left let out the loudest roar it could from it's current hiding place. It had a dual purpose remind the survivors they were ever under watch and remind JD he was not alone.
