"That is a very good point, I will admit. The beauty of it is that my own power is the greatest hope for my plan's success. You know first hand I can shut down parts of the mind, but it also works in reverse. It will take much time, study, and concentration on my part, but I hope in time to find which areas of the brain are different between special and common infected. If I can find these areas of the mind, I can bridge the gap.

I believe it is just a simple act of some areas being deactivated by the more primitive forms of the virus because they had a low immunity. As humans became more resistant, I believe the damage done to the brain was lessened. For me to be able to do the proper research though, my time cannot be divided with this on going war with humanity. Maintaining the change isn't an issue at all, but making the change in billions of minds simultaneously requires quite a bit of time and concentration. The challenge is finding and repairing, my power is the only way there ever will be a regaining of intelligent thought in a zombie. I may need to maintain the link forever so their minds don't revert, but I know I can do it." Jack responded.

JD was still a little skeptical about the whole idea.

"But zombies are undead, are they not? That means that they'll start to decay and rot. I'm pretty sure the brain must be decaying as well. I'm pretty sure the only part of the brain that isn't as rotted as the rest is the part that deals with survival and hunger. Bring one in, and let him go free of your mind shackles. This is something you'll want to see." JD said to Jack, in hopes to prove a point.

"JD, you forget while you were unconscious I was fighting for my life. I know what happens when zombies aren't under my control. While I agree with you we are all technically dead, the virus keeps us from decaying. The regenerative ability is inherent in all zombies, it is just slower in the non-special infected. That's why bullets work on them and not us, the virus will still keep them from decaying into oblivion in any case. By the way, when I say slower, I mean slow enough to the point where only decay is stopped, it is why they can be bludgeoned, shot, or hell even stabbed to death." Jack responded calmly.

"Oh. Well then, can we at least cut one open? Even if their skin and organs can regenerate, their brain can't. And that's a known fact. Brain cells can't regenerate or replicate, and not even the virus can do anything about it." JD said.

"I know this, that is why I'm hoping its a simple deactivation, much like your paralysis. What would you hope to prove by me allowing you to cut open one of the zombies. I want to know the purpose of the action, before I kill one of the members of my horde to either prove or disprove it." Jack responded, sounding slightly appalled at cutting open a "living" member of his species. He knew they were dead by definition, but to him they may as well be alive.

"I want to show you a common zombie's brain. Or at least how it should be. If i'm correct, then the frontal lobes of the brain (where reasoning, planning, parts of speech, emotions, problem solving, or in this case, rational thought or at least basic motor skills are located), should be already rotted and decayed, since a basic zombie would've lost the need for these concepts." JD explained.

"Fair enough, you told me the purpose of the experiment and I have little choice but to allow it. I have two stipulations though, first your arms and powers will continue to be restricted, second you will be allowed to see two brains. A shambler and a leaper, no more and no less. I will perform the experiment, as I myself am curious to see the extent the disease changes the physical body of a zombie. I will simply think of it as an autopsy and perhaps I'll be able to live with my hypocrisy at damning the humans for attempting to kill us all while I kill my own for this experiment." Jack said with a sigh and a frown.

"You had better appreciate what I am doing, it pains me to kill a fellow zombie for any reason. I see it needs to be done though. Is there anything else, or can I get this set up and make my peace with my brothers?"

"No, this is all I need to see. This is all I need to prove to you that your plan is flawed. Well, let's get started then, shall we?" JD said.

Chapter 16: The Autopsy:

With Jack's permission, JD will cut open two of Jack's zombies, a Leaper and a Common, in hopes to test his hypothesis. Will he succeed? Will he find what he needs? [sub]Is this just a shameless excuse to bump the RP to the first page?[/sub]

Jack walked to the door of the room.

"I will need half an hour. You will be escorted back to your cell. The autopsy will be performed in the biotechnology lab nearby. Due to the nature of some of their 'experiments', aka us, they had an on site morgue with all the tools we will need. I will prepare this and then you will be brought to where I am. You will be able to observe every move I make, and we will run any test you decide is necessary. I will run a few of my own as well, since we will be killing them anyway." Jack said before walking out of the room and the five leapers moved back around JD, waiting for him to stand so they could lead him back.

"Okay. Whatever." JD said.

Then the leapers leaded him out of the room and back towards the cells. He was hoping his idea would come through. Then maybe he'd be able to speak some sense into his former teacher. They finally arrived at his cell. Dewey, Jacobs, and Uncle Al looked as bored as ever.

"Hey Guys, what did I miss?" He said, trying his best to wave at the group despite being paralyzed in his arms.

Jack made his way over with ten of his guards, the scorcher, and the shambler and the leaper that would serve as their subjects. He knew at this point in time they wouldn't understand what he was telling them, but he apologized to the subjects as they walked into the laboratory. He went down to the morgue and began to set up everything for the autopsy.

"So where it all begins again." Jack said to himself as he prepared.

Everyone looked around their cells and replied, "Nothing."

"Shit, seems we've got a slight problem," Adries said, looking through binoculars at the tracks ahead of them, "Another train. Crashed."
"Guess we have to walk a bit quicker than I thought we'd have to," Alan said, taking a look, "Best stop the train now. No point in putting ourselves in danger by stopping it when we get closer."

JD sat down Indian-style and face his fellow prisoners.

"Okay, I made a appointment with Mr. Fletcher. We're gonna do a cranial autopsy on a common and a leaper to see if their frontal lobes are still intact. If they are, then Jack's plan of "Zombies with thought" could come to fruition. If not, then he would have no choice but to give up. I really hope this works. This could be my only way to talk some sense into my former teacher. And hey, if I'm lucky, then maybe you guys wouldn't have to worry about turning into zombies." He addressed to his peers.

Then he began to meditate. Last time he tried it, he felt a small sensation in his hands. If he could reach into the recesses of his mind, then maybe he might be able to free himself from Jack's grasp. But first, he needed to concentrate.

"We're screwed," Albert said to himself, huddling up in a corner and going to sleep.
"NO! We can survive! We can't give up," Jacobs said, getting ignored by everyone else.

((Alright blaze, here is you're character. Hope you're happy with it:

((Let me put it this way. I love it. I couldn't be happier with them if I tried.))

He had prepared the zombies, they were currently complacent and strapped onto the tables just in case something happened. The autopsy and surgical equipment were laid out on a small tray next to each table. They were sterile so an excuse of contaminated tools was invalid, he was still a man of science, even if not a man. He had controlled variables as best he could so only the natural would affect results. He was ready and ordered the five leapers that guarded JD to bring him to the laboratory. He had lined the streets leading to the lab with zombies, and had the laboratory and police station heavily guarded. Even though he figured nothing would happen in transport or on arrival, he was leaving nothing to chance. He would also have the scorcher with him at all times. His paranoia was rising with every day Alan continued to live. Hopefully that would be rectified soon.

As JD and the leaper guards arrived at the Lab, Took in a deep exhale.

"Ahh, the smell of rubbing alcohol and sterility. It almost makes me going to the doctor's office." He said.

He walked through the Lab, until he found the surgery room. Jack and the two subjects were in there.

"So... will you give me my arms back? Or will I have to do this with my feet?" He asked him.

"Fair enough, but both my guards and myself will be observing every move you make." Jack said as he put the scorcher and every leaper in the room on standby to attack should anything happen. He stopped paralyzing JD's arms, he kept his psychic abilities locked to him however.

Alan jumped out of the train once they stopped, looking over the map once more before pointing in the direction they'd be going. "This train map certainly makes figuring things out easier," he told Adries and Lisa, waiting for them to rest before they'd head out.
