While I was trying to get the zombie genocide master trophy in Dead rising 2 I realised something, I had killed a lot of zombies, then I started to think "how many zombies have I killed in my years of gaming?"

So this is the question I ask you as well how many of these undead nightmares have you killed?

I think my count is somewhere around 50000, probably higher.

In just the Left 4 Dead games I've probably racked up enough to fill up a small lake.

I'd have to say...around the tens of thousands. Maybe more. Not anywhere near the millions, though.

A lot less than you might expect, I haven't played many zombie games. So probably somewhere in the hundreds for me.

I'd guess around 50,000 in my time I suppose, I'm not really one for keeping count.
If we go by bullet fodder enemies however, I think I've got a few more.

but are they? Resident evil 5 for example, you see one of them turn right in front of you on more then one occasion.

If we ARE including them, then it's a lot more then without. I bought Dead Rising 2 a few weeks ago. and i've racked up a few thousand on that. Then theres the Call of Duty zombies mode. Which i play religiously. So all in all, about... 9000 on dead rising 2, 600000 on CoD (both black ops and world at war.) and a few hundred thousand on RE4 and 5 if we're including them.

well you can't include dead rising then as they are not dead but rather INFECTED by a parasite. Also voodoo zombies were around before the unexplained zombies.

Ah but they're all infections, I mean if they die and then come back, even if it is due to infection.

Well if they died at some stage and then come back count it, otherwise no.

well, do they? For all we know, they die as soon as the infections enter their bodies. The Dead Rising 2 zombies are infected but chuck refers to them as dead when he's calming down a survivor, doesn't he. So maybe once infected, they do die, in which case, we can include all zombie types in all zombie games. a zombie is a dead body, reanimated. If it wasn't dead, it wouldn't be a zombie.

Am I over thinking this?

why does it matter if the person dies first? I always thought the purpose of the zombie was to provide a very human foe that isn't human but rather a vicious animal, which means it is a lot easier to justify imagining killing millions of them. I mean voodoo zombies came first which were corpses animated by evil spirits, the evil spirits are the undead part but the actual corpse never came back to live. Why is it that people say only the risen dead count as zombies when they are actually a RE-IMAGINING of the original zombie.

I've probably killed enough to make it to the moon if you stacked them vertically. Maybe even if you stacked them horizontally.

Sadly, those are probably just from playing the L4D series. I've probably killed at least half again that number in Nazi Zombies. So...a goodly amount I'd say.

We're talking about zombies, but I think the more interesting thing would be how many lesser enemies we've killed.

How many smashed goombas will it take to realize that jumping over them is just as easy? How many witless enemy combatants ran into your stream of bullets in CoD? How many tetris blocks have disappeared into the unknown?

I wouldn't count Zombies in this pool of sympathy, because their existence itself is a mockery of what it used to be. A living, conscious person with an attachment to this world. Now just an animated corpse driven only by the urge to feed.

Calm down, they're only zombies! Let's just count them all.

Zombie games are one of my favorites so ... a lot, a hell of a lot. I'd say I'm at - if not really close - to the 1 million mark.
