So some more gameplay of the upcoming Wii U launch title and exclusive ZombiU has been released, and I've got to say it looks pretty damn good.

It looks extremely tense and looks like what a zombie game should be. I love the fact that when you die you have to play over as a new character, and to get your gear back you have to find the zombie of your last character and kill them. But from what I've read there's a twist, the zombie of your last character has all the armour, skills and weapons that you had when you played them, and they are more clever and faster than the normal zombie.

The whole game just looks like what Dead Island should have been, a tense and survival based look at zombies. What are your thoughts on this game? Good, bad, or somewhere in between?

It's a real seller and one of the reasons I'm getting the Wii U, as well as an amazing proof of concept and actually decent use of what others would call a gimmick. Definitely a first day buy for me. On top of that actually using the concept of turning into a zombie in a zombie game? Very impressive. So Toasty are you planning on getting the wii U? Or are you still looking for a few more sellers?

Yep, getting it whenever I can get the money. I plan to get Pikmin 3, ZombiU and Rayman Legends as my three games. I don't care that the graphics will likely be worse than the next Xbox and PS, it provides something new. I've got my PC for graphics.

Yeah, I don't even have a pc for gaming because I find them difficult to use and annoying despite what people tell me. I mean that Jimquisition episode about how the PS3/360 aren't even consoles any more makes me look even more forward to this thing. I just hope Nintendo shows up with a new IP and that ZombiU's use of the system isn't just token because it's a launch title, I hope other games continue to follow the trend of using the system to its fullest.

Some of the touchscreen use seems kind of arbitrary but other than that it seems ok. Nothing about it looks bad but it just seems like they're saying "Hey, look what we can do with the Wii U. oh and zombies", but then again I suppose a fun proof of concept is exactly what a developer wants from a launch title.

I'm still waiting for the next Mario, Zelda and Metroid titles before I commit to the Wii U.

This looks terrible . I mean really i don't see what you guys see in this game that i'm missing . Going between television and your "controller" seems unintuitive . The atmosphere "looks" nice in a resident evil kinda way. But the actual gameplay looks pretty bland and redundant . Only time will tell i guess .

Then again i'm not really sold on the WIIU , so i'ma avoid it like the plague .

From what I can see it's about trying to use factors outside of the game to build the atmosphere inside the game. All of the inventory managing and tools happen in real time while you can't see the other screen so it creates tension. I guess it boils down to how willing you are to sacrifice intuitive play for a specific creative thematic experience.

Have you seen the other ways it's used? You have to do pretty much everything in real time, which wouldn't be tense if you simply brought up a menu. You get to see everything on the screen at all times, which when you're trying to remember a combination for a keypad whilst a few zombies come crawling towards you will be pretty damn tense.

To be fair switching between two actual pieces of hardware could be pretty jarring. It could be done possibly by bringing up the inventory in real time on half of the television screen.

Well that is one way to describe it.
I would go with QTE mess, plus the best immersion breaking system known to man, take half the game off the screen so people are constantly reminded it's only a game.

Or one of the most realistic games, not in terms of graphics, but in terms of game play. I played ZombiU at the WiiU Experience, and I thought it was pretty immersive. I understand that people might be uncomfortable with it at first, but once you get into it, it is very immersive.

OT: I'm very excited for this game! This is one of the games I'm getting for Christmas, as well as Pikmin 3, NSMBWiiU and Ninteno Land (If it comes with the system). It looks amazing, and I can't wait to play it.

I know I will be getting a WiiU, but so far I'm not convinced that I will get one on release. This game looks decent, but it's not enough to convince me. I guess I will egt this game, but I'm a little bored of zombies, I'm unlikely to get another zombie game unless it's Plants vs Zombies 2.

Looks like I'd have to the get my first Zombie game soon.
(I don't count Time Splitters Future Perfect as a zombie game even if it has a few levels of those :p)

Why is it 'surprisingly' awesome? Nintendo have always made decent games to my knowledge. The only thing that gives them a bad image is the amount of shovelware they allow on their platform.

I wish people would give Nintendo a little more respect they saved the console game industry in the 80's, gaming might not even exist as it is now without them.

I don't think ill be getting a Wii U on release as they always release console at silly prices but I will be getting one.

I think it looks interesting, but I get the feeling this is going to end up like Red Steel: the general "new-ness" of the system is going to make the execution of the ideas not as good as they could have been. Some ideas will work, like the inventory management, and some will be terrible, like the whole thing with sniping. I still plan on getting a WiiU, but I'm still not sold on ZombiU.

What he said. In fact I'd say you're all being conned. Horror games rely on immersion and so the other screen will get in the way, it won't enhance anything. Your physical input should be as behind-the-scenes as possible. Not, well, this:

Would that be the market crash that was, at least in part, due to a saturation of complete and utter shit clogging up the market? (I assume it's obvious where I'm going with this.)

Not to mention, the 80s were thirty years ago.

Want to give any reasons other than "MY IMMERSION OH NOES!". I can give you a lot of reasons why the game pad improves the gameplay.

It's a fucking horror game. If you're going "MY IMMERSION OH NOES!" then the entire thing has collapsed in on itself.
