Apparently this guy used to be a green party voter too. I guess the myth of the Obama voter who supported Trump is real.

Yikes. Regardless of what people think of her or by extension him, shit’s getting increasingly out of hand.
When you look at their backstory it all seems to add up. Also I would blame her daughter being a unprofessional film maker and recording her mothers life.

When you think about it, she is not "that bad" and already has the Catholic vote in hand and sadly could lead to another Trump victory is she does run.

I am sure not going to vote her. I am tired of voting for people who makes it "their career" to get into office rather then solving problems and uniting people.

That is where this is going with her. It is like Ross Perot all over again but sliding into the Hillary side of things.

If you checkout "Fix it Felix" he actually was at many press events where she was located. Nice looking fella but no Justin Trudeau pre bread

In before one of the right wingers around here tries to find some way to blame Nancy Pelosi for the attack.
I'm not going to blame Pelosi for the attack, but i honestly don't have a lot of sympathy for her or her husband. They're one of the major reasons that San Francisco is as fucked up as it is, and they're both obviously guilty of insider trading to an absurd degree but get to avoid the jail-time any normal person would receive because of their political power.

If you think about it, if Paul was in prison where he belongs then he wouldn't have been attacked by a hammer-wielding crazy man at his house.

This is fucked, and the sad part is this is going to become more of a political reality.
I'd really rather than right wing violence wasn't a thing, but since it's a thing I would rather it be directed at politicians rather than against random innocent people.

It already was directed at random innocent people, but now that it's also directed at politicians it only means even more random innocent people are going to get targeted. There's no lesser of two evils in this situation, only escalation of evil.

My understanding is that the assailant was trying to get to Nancy Pelosi herself.

Regardless of how one might think about her politics, expressing your political opinion by assaulting an elected official is an outrage and should be condemned. That's not how one behaves in a democracy.

It's cute and all to act like the issue is a politicians "politics" but really the things they do have actual real profound effects on the lives of people amd many times they activily choose to harm people to enrich themselves. I'm not saying I support this but the idea that "democracy" will alwys win and we should never resort to violence is a childish one. There's no way for the US to vote itself out of the situation it's in now faster than thousands or millions of people are going to have their lives ruined or ended.

Edit : Particularly when you don't actually live in a democracy.

I'm guessing there's another John Sheridan besides the Irish football player. ..

To be clear I'm not saying violence is good. I'm certainly not saying we should hurt the elderly and the defenceless. But the idea that it's just about different opinions is childish, and comes from a place of privilege. Look at what's happening to trans youth in Florida? Look at the amount of children droned to death in the middle east? Hell if you're in America people literally die because they can't afford medical treatment and that system is that way on purpose. There is violence carried out on people, knowingly, by the government everyday. If somebody who is in those positions decides that they're not going to stand by and let themselves be killed I can't say I blame them.

That doesn't mean I approve any and all acts of violence.

One also notes the founding myth of the United States was an extreme act of violence against the existing state, and the possibility of improving things by doing so again is one of the myths of their current society's foundation.

The founding of my country was an act of violence. And the state ended up almost exactly how the people who fought and died predicted it would.

"If you remove the English Army tomorrow and hoist the green flag over Dublin Castle., unless you set about the organization of the Socialist Republic your efforts will be in vain. England will still rule you. She would rule you through her capitalists, through her landlords, through her financiers, through the whole array of commercial and individualist institutions she has planted in this country and watered with the tears of our mothers and the blood of our martyrs."

The idea that this situation can be voted out of is a bigger myth. Look at the effect facebook has had on global politics. We know how a social media network can affect "democracy". Now one of the largest social media companies is owned by Elon Musk and we've all seen what he and Kanye can accomplish in about a week. There's no such thing as democracy when one individual holds THAT much power. Sure we all have one vote (all being a very strong word) but we don't all have remotely the same power to influence an election.

The founding of most countries is an act of violence. That's not rare. The rare part is managing to emerge from the shadow of that act of violence as an actual lasting stable country.

Might be worth reminding that this guy was motivated by beliefs nowhere near any of those founded in the realities you mention. It's born of a particular push of violent rhetoric and fantasy in modern conspiracy circles that ppl have been trying to warn others of for years now. The revolutionary violence you speak of requires a lot more shared desperation, cunning and coordination before those who honestly seek a healthier system are willing to escalate to such levels. And even then, it's ppl like Michael Flynn and co who are already well on their ways to sabotaging the remaining husk of democratic sway, because they have the Christo-fascist drive whereas progressives consistently lean towards de-escalation outside of aforementioned shared desperation etc etc.

So, I have just a couple questions here.

1667149296114.png

That's quite obviously ballistic glass. Its presence makes sense; Pelosi's a House Speaker who, to say the least, has faced challenges which might make installing ballistic glass a good idea, to say the least. But, how precisely the actual fuck does one get through it with a hand tool from the outside, let alone in a way the glass spalls and the laminate layers bend outwards, and sure as shit without alerting the house's inhabitants?

When will we see this body cam footage? Who was this unnamed third party that somehow failed to overhear the forced entry, scuffle, shouting, and house-searching, but then went on to answer the door for police?

I'm not buying into the "Paul's gay hookup domestic scuffle" prattle, but I will say what we've been told so far has a bit of a stink about it.

Sure but attacks like this don't happen because the culprit thinks these politicians are doing harm. They happen because the culprit doesn't think the victims do enough harm.

The Pelosi's weren't attacked by someone outraged about how slow the democrats are in tackling climate change, or someone who's desperate for the democrats to address wealth inequality. Instead they were attacked because the culprit saw them as an obstacle to a far right dictatorship.

Same with the attempt to lynch Pence. They didn't try it because he's an awful politician pushing horrible ideas. They tried to kill him because he didn't want to abuse powers he didn't even have to try and replace democracy with Donald Trump. Or the German politician who got murdered not because he did harm but because he just didn't want a draconian refugee policy.

Peloci's policies are one thing, but also there's issues of corruption and insider trading by her husband, which was the main criticism of corruption against her. But now that this happened any valid criticism can be handwaved away because we have to (and should I think) feel bad for her insider trading husband. Honestly, while this is not a good thing for him obviously, it is pretty convenient for her.

Maybe the guy was her gay lover? No, while he was a nudism activist green party hammer maniac, I doubt even he would go for that.
