I actually suggested that in the post you quoted. The trickling down bit was meant to imply a top down approach, as opposed to just wiping everything out and starting over again. Apologies if that wasn't clear.
You seem to really dislike Republicans.
Personally, given the track record of Democrats in the area, I'd be completely willing to give some Reds a shot. Just to see what would happen. Progressives are generally...worrisome, but their hearts at least appear to be in the right place. So hey, give them a shot too. Not necessarily in that order either.
Maybe a coalition of sorts, leveraging each doctrine's strengths and minimizing their respective weaknesses for different elements of governance. But that'd require the parties involved to actually work together toward a common good.
So we're fucked.
I guess the analogy wasn't clear enough either.
I was suggesting the CPD were essentially a disobedient dog in need of proper and attentive supervision, seeing as they have a habit of biting people to death.
I really dislike CURRENT republicans. While I disagreed with Republicans like John McCain and Bush politics and whatnot previously, at least they were usually not intentionally trying to inflict harm upon the people. Current republican platform is exactly that. It intentionally inflicts harm upon the american people. It is an all out assault on the middle and lower class with promised " shock and awe" ACCORDING TO TRUMPS OWN WHITE HOUSE OFFICIALS. This isn't coming from democrats or people that opposed him, this is coming from Trump's " Best people", from the people who help elect him and know him best and other republicans.
Of course I dislike Current republicans but that is due to the current republicans being more corrupt than we have ever had in any party in our history. It isn't that I view ALL conservatives that way. Why are the progressives worrisome? There are no strengths/ benefits to the GOP right now. The reason why the GOP is refusing to release their platform right now is it really IS that bad and is actually completely focused on grinding the middle and lower class into the dust. The plan for Trump's reelection is removing all assistance to the poor, eliminating healthcare for the poor, removing housing access to the poor, there is nothing remotely good about it. It is terrible. I am not " just saying this because I like democrats" or something, I am not even a democrat, but right now I understand that they are all we have to stop this from happening.

Trumps wants to make permanent cuts to the Medicare and Social Security payroll taxes. But, both the Medicare and Social Security trust funds are running out of money. That is projected by the Congressional Budget Office to happen for Medicare in 2025 and Social Security in 2031.

All that electing a republican does in Chicago is have the money shift hands and corruption goes on as business as usual, if not worse due to the current state of the party itself. Any self respecting republican that had an ounce of decency is sitting out right now. I am not saying the democrats are not corrupt there, but pouring gasoline on the fire isn't going to help either. That is what electing a current republican there essentially does.
Progressives are the only option I see helping anything there right now because of the current state of both democrats and republicans in the area. Their current Mayor has only been in office since October, and has been in the middle of a pandemic so has not been able to focus on much else so I am not really seeing she has even had a chance to have a real impact on the corruption, though it seems likely she made a good first move by restricting the alderman's power there considering they have been at the center of so much previous corruption.
