SO, yes, Trump just took away the COVID-19 relief bill that everyone was counting on to save the country. Without the stimulus, we are expecting mass homelessness, including some of my own family members. Just when you thought Trump couldn't get any lower...

I can just hear it now, someone claiming that by depriving them of what they need he's actually helping make them stronger...

“Today, once again, President Trump showed his true colors: putting himself first at the expense of the country, with the full complicity of the GOP Members of Congress,” Pelosi said in a statement. “Walking away from coronavirus talks demonstrates that President Trump is unwilling to crush the virus, as is required by the Heroes Act.”

Trump doesn't care what he is doing to millions, he never had to worry where his next meal was coming from or whether or not he had a roof over his head. TBH he likely wants to cause another housing crisis, he was so excited for the last one, this is just what his wealthy buddies want to happen.

Wasn't it mostly Pelosis fault that the negotiations were taking way longer than expected, to the point when even the Dems were urging her to just sign the deal? She should have just compromised with the 400 weekly unemployment and the standard stimulus check. There was absolutely no way you could get the Republicans to agree with what she was demanding. Right now the public just cares about immediate comfort and security to hold on till the year. But this is going to hurt the Dems and make Donald look like the "hero" who rose against the virus and if he wins then he will conveniently give people a band aid.

Why didn't they accept the $1.6 trillion?
Why put all the blame on Trump when there are two sides to this negotiation?

Also what Shadyside said

The $600 weekly unemployment IS what was required to prevent the eviction crisis. The $600 unemployment was what was needed for my brother and his kids to keep their home as well. The reason they had that number in the first place is that was what was needed to keep the majority from losing their homes. That can't be stopped now. The $400 a week would still mean my brother and his kids would be homeless along with millions of others, it wasn't enough. The GOP were who were blocking that while giving billions to corporations. People aren't going to vote for the many who just took away their last hope. They had to have the money now, waiting until November is too late for the vast majority. He just guaranteed like 30 million minimum lose their homes, likely more.

$400 was simply not enough. Those screaming at Pelosi weren't worried about that though, they were worried about the businesses getting their money, not the unemployed who were just scraping by.

Welp. Yet ppl running social medias dont like when us shabby unwashed unimportant masses wish for someone as priveleged and protected and kunty as him just a tiny fraction of karma from the dangers he willingly forces on everyone else. Its fucked. Noone cares about justice when money's on the line.

Because even with the 1.6 tril republicans wanted to cut the weekly unemployment to an almost uselessly low number and republicans wanted a lot of things in the bill that would prevent businesses from being sued by people who got infected because of their negligence. Those were deal killers for democrats.

Gee sure am stumped
If we're negotiating, and I demand something that is unreasonably high, which causes you to walk away from the negotiations and not take my offer seriously, then it's your fault? Is that what you're saying?

Oh so you're saying you don't believe the President should be trying to fix the situation and should just drop the entire thing if he doesn't get what he wants damn the people who need it.

Because the $400 for the unemployed WOULD NOT EVEN SLOW THE EVICTION CRISIS. The $600 would. That was the priority right? Due to how low unemployment payments are, the $600 was what was required to keep $30 million people in their homes. Including my brother. The $400 was not enough to keep my brother from losing his home either, and he was hospitalized with COVID-19 too. The entire reason they came up with the $600 in the first place was to stop the eviction crisis. Why would they give them them less and STILL cause them to become homeless? Evictions have been going on as usual BTW, nothing has been even slowing those down. The GOP is causing this to happen.

I would think that walking away from the negotiations is a way of fixing it. Instead of wasting time, you can do other things, and then when the other side has a more reasonable offer, they can come crawling back.

Works all the time in car dealerships, or so I've been told.

Neat. Do you have a source on that? I know nothing about why these numbers were chosen.

You usually post all sorts of links and copy-pastes from articles.

Ah, if you think car dealership strategies are the way to fix the nation's problems I think it explains plenty about what you support.

Also walking away from something time sensitive as a way to fix it. Sterling problem solving

The only thing I'm looking forward to all of this is more rioting and looting. If you are going to do that, please don't film it and don't target small businesses. Only steal from big supermarkets and diamond stores since they're already well insured. Steal ATM, food, and electronics that you can make a quick buck out of. DONT announce your plans on social media like a dumbass. Cover your tattoos and anything that can get you traced. I always believed that you can never count on any government, corporation, or institution to help you even when you gave your whole life to them.

I don't support anything, I'm just asking questions without the "benefit" of seeing everything through "orange-man-bad" tinted glasses.

It takes two to negotiate. Casting blame on one side for not agreeing with a proposal seems silly, to me, is all.
