By that logic, Pelosi walked away from 1.6 trillion, didn't she? I'm assuming she's in charge of the other side.

It's like if you want $200 bucks for something and I want it for $20. Do I get to get mad at you for refusing to negotiate? Or is the fault my own for going too low?
No that doesn't work because they were not stopping the unemployed from becoming homeless with what they were offering. The GOP has turned down every bill that passed the house thus far that had the money needed for the unemployed to not lose their homes and have not offered one that did. Pelosi walked away from corporate welfare and starve the poor. She very well should, and the GOP should be ashamed of offering it in the first place. GOP is okay with helping everyone BUT the poor. GOP willing to give trillions to the wealthy and STILL want to starve the poor, sick, unemployed. It is sick tbh. GOP would have passed trillions for the wealthy in heartbeat but then say " over my dead body" to save the poor.

Because he's afraid the poor have it "too good" licking their table scraps off the floor. Instead of paying people a living wage, he wants to " starve them out".

I hope it comes back to kick him in the arse tbh. The people there losing their homes and businesses due to his " over my dead body" BS hopefully will finally get rid of him.

I... don't think you understand how negotiation work.

See negotiation is, you want 200$ I want 20$, so I say "how about 100$" and then we go back and forth until we find common ground. Me not accepting 200$ doesn't mean I'm walking away from the entire thing. That's why after the dem initially proposed something higher (3.2?) and the republican returned with 1.6 they tried again with 2.6. At which point Trump walked away instead of accepting it or giving a new offer.

Okay.

Was this a bill or something? Is it part of the CARES act? Was this a new amendment to it, or something?

Is this how a bill becomes a law? I need to re-watch school-house rock.

It takes two to negotiate. Casting blame on one side for not agreeing with a proposal seems silly, to me, is all.
Right, but he didn't just refuse the proposal, did he? He ended the negotiation.

If we're negotiating, and I demand something that is unreasonably high, which causes you to walk away from the negotiations and not take my offer seriously, then it's your fault? Is that what you're saying?
No you realize you have an issue that needs resolved and you work until you fix it. Isn't the genius in the WH the supposed mastermind of "The Art of the Deal"? Instead this idiot says if you don't vote for me then fk you.

I would like to read the text of the bill that the Senate has allegedly stopped arguing over. Surely it contains a breakdown of what all the money would be used for, right?
Would it also contain a record of the 1.6T offer? Are those things recorded?

Furthermore, can the President just tell their party members in the Senate to not negotiate over a thing? Is that a power?

How do politics work, help.

In theory, yes they could, but Trump still has to sign off on it. McConnell is too busy with ramming the SCOTUS pick through to worry about anybody needing any help. Let's not forget he had a House bill sitting on his desk for months to extend relief and didn't do squat with it until a week before the existing one was to expire. But he sure as hell can get on this SCOTUS nomination.

You can just ignore him when he’s purposely trying to derail threads. Two pages from now he’ll be patting himself on the back for it.

On topic though, clearly this means theDems will shutdown negotiations for the Supreme Court, right? Just total government shut down, correct? If Trump wants to fuck us all over, they’ll fuck him over, right?

How? A CR was already signed to keep the government running until Dec 11.

I don't care what your spin city says. In my case at least, I've already decided to give the Dems the middle finger for the shit they've been trying to pull these past 6 months.

The entire gubmint is pure garbage. But at least under a Biden administration, things would be somewhat more manageable. At the the very least the people who would be pulling his strings would get their act together, unlike Donald who just keeps spreading harmful misinformation and apathy.

The President can't tell the party members what to do, but he can pressure them. In this case, he was the one pressuring them to make a deal. He was the one trying to force it through while Mitch and Nancy sat around spitting in each others' general direction. The White House, without any obligation to do Congress' job for them, stepped in to try and make something happen, and has now given up. "Trump gives up doing other people's jobs" isn't a great headline though.

Nah. Fuck them. Neither they nor YOU get to play "I have the moral high ground" after bullshit like everything to do with Kenosha. The democrats pulled a Nixon. Had an easy win but just had to play dirty so now, fuck them. They pretended to take the high ground but didn't so now they have nothing to offer to me. Congrats! I'm voting for Trump out of pure SPITE.

Well, that's okay. I've decided that the Republican party needs to be destroyed and that every last person who ever called themselves one should be treated as pariahs.

''I don't like the Democrats so now I'm going to do my best to damage my country's democracy, normalize extreme corruption and place the least competent man I can think of in charge''

Somehow I don't think giving the democrats a bad day is worth it if you have to live with the fallout. Most democrat politicians will be fine. Many American citizens will not be.
