Laws of physics broken as a perpetual motion machine was invented

Too true...Google "Steorn" to see a "free energy" scam that a lot of people have been throwing money at and which has never demonstrated anything substantial ever.

Best music you've ever heard in a game series?

Red Dead Redemption has some great music, Grand Theft Auto: Vice City has some fantastic music. My favourite at the moment is probably Downstream by Shira Kammen, from Braid. <youtube=5kflCLshkOg>

    Tolkien, Overrated?

To all those who mention the overdescriptiveness, remember that The Lord Of The Rings was written in the 1940s, an era in which there were no televisions (and no CGI), and that much of what he was writing about he was writing about for literally the first time ever. It was a different era, and...

Children and/or Animals in the next GTA?

For the people who are saying that the media backlash would be too great, media backlash is what Rockstar is all about. It's on the record that Rockstar hired evil soulless publicist Max Clifford to engineer media outrage in order to increase publicity for the first game, and they haven't...

    Snow in England -.-

All I've got is my laptop and the internet. Not even a TV. It's my own fault, I chose this week to go away to a cottage in the middle of nowhere on a writing retreat...

Wait, what does Cliff have to say about all this?

Poll: Is Great Britain Culturally dead?

Don't confuse patriotism with jingoism... I've never been made to feel guilty abroad because of actions in Britain's past...unless you mean the football hooliganism of the 70s and 80s, that seems to be one perception of the British that doesn't seem to have died down. Although I still...

Poll: Is Great Britain Culturally dead?

Why were you surprised? What makes you think that Britain is culturally dead? It might also be helpful to hear what your definition of "culture" is.

    Assassin's Creed 3 Locations

Based on some of the suggestions in this thread, which would be more fun/impressive to climb: Big Ben, the Eiffel Tower, the Kremlin or the Taj Mahal?

    Assassin's Creed 3 Locations

I'm sure I read somewhere that the developers wanted to choose locations that hadn't been done to death, so I'm guessing that Victorian Britain wouldn't be top of their list. Love the idea of colonial India though - there must be a lot of scope there, what with the East India Company and the...

Can anyone help with my problem?

How do you know it's on if the door's closed? That's not meant to be as sarcastic as it sounds.

How do you feel about Zombies?

From what I've heard from friends who've seen it, it's more a character drama than a zombie "thing". The zombies just happen to be the danger that has thrown the characters together and forced them to co-operate with one another.

How do you feel about Zombies?

I've always liked zombies. I think the relentless, overwhelming nature of them makes them truly scary, and the fact that you're one stray bite away from having to pop a cap in your own mother's head makes them truly disturbing. Obviously zombification doesn't make much sense, because...

Games that get it right.. almost.

I completely agree with this. I loved Vice City. But San Andreas...there was just something about it that didn't click with me - hard to put my finger on what - but I found that I couldn't immerse myself in it like I did with VC.

Do you feel that Assassin's Creed isn't stealthy enough?

I'm glad to hear AC2B emphasises stealth a little more. I mean, I'm usually pretty terrible at the stealth elements of games - I heard the "BREE!" you've-been-detected noise on MGS2 so often it might as well have been part of the soundtrack, and I knocked a lot of crates out of people's...
