Movies You Love That Nobody Has Probably Ever Heard Of

The mouse that roared. A 1959 film with Peter Sellers in 3 roles. It's a satire on the cold war and the politics at the time. It may be quite dated as a satire, but Sellers makes it quite enjoyable even today. For some odd reason I like it.

Nostalgia that HAS NOT let you down

Nils Holgersson. Bought the whole series on DVD as a "fake" present for my brother at chistmas a few years back. He was quite disapointed until he saw his real present. Before the new year though, his gf, him and myself had seen half of them. Six months later we both had to think hard...

    what happened to doctors?

I was going to reply to the fact that medical studies are so expensive in the states with a mention that over here it costs about ?1000 per year and doesn't require any loans and if we can do it, it should be possible in the states as well. Then I thought to myself: "This would make it a...

No government for over a year!

In my view it all boils down to politicians not wanting to take action that will cost them votes. So instead of actually having to do anything, all they have to do is make sure it becomes a "communotair probleem", something you can't get an agreement over with the other community and they...

Non-Americans: How do you view us?

OK, against my better judgement I'll respond to this. First of all I think you should know that if you ask a question like this you are asking for individual opinions. I will not speak for anoyone else but me. It might be good to remember that you asked their opinion of the U.S. (I'm going...

    How is 9/11 viewed internationally?

Over here we mostly get referenced to it as the event that dominated the past decade, which you can't really deny. Then again, the butterfly effect means anything will influence the future. But if you look at the news from the past decade, a lot of it seems to be formed as a result of this...

    Your Name as an Anagram?

A Freezable Invites Four Ho Mojo So much fun to have with punctuation. Probably better ones in there, but the first good one I saw amongst the 55556. Fun for 5 minutes :)

Little things about Western culture that annoy you.

Thank you for saving me the time needed to put my thoughts on this into words by just allowing me to copy this eloquent statement. Also: The original post is more about American culture than Western culture, as many have already pointed out. The quote above can, in my eyes, be seen as...

    The fun facts thread.

I don't know whether this is still out in the open, but according to a somewhat dated book I own, chances are that the whole universe is a black hole in another universe. Try out the McGurk effect http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G-lN8vWm3m0 And according to some, Troy lay in England, not...

    The Threat of Home Invaders

Got my old bokken under my bed. And if I did happen to be naked in bed (normally wear my underwear) I would just go naked. I would make some noise, hoping that would give them some time to return whence they came. If not, a 6'5" 220lbs naked guy weilding a bokken with some skill should give...

A question to the grown adult men of the Escapist

There is no real set of rules for being a man (or a woman, for that matter) and often there is no clear good choice other than either being a loser or being a bastard. You don't want to pick either of those two all too often. To hit on a girl you know is in a relationship is a serious d**che...

    Reccomend me a book

Wheel of Time by Robert Jordan/ Brandon Sanderson for epicness and serious story. Discworld for shorter, faster stories with loads of humor, but a surprising amount of satire/depth/philosophy. Read them all thoroughly and come back again next year ;)

Worst/Most irritating medical condition you've ever had?

I had pneumonia and a fever at the same time, an appendectomy and some other fun stuff, but by far the worst was the bacterial meningitis. If my parents were half an hour later I would have been deaf/mute and if they had been an hour later I would have been dead.

The most exercise you've ever done

The most is hard to compare... Went on 60km bike rides to a lake and back several times a year when I was a kid (6y.o.) Together with my brother I transported a skip and a half of dirt uphill by wheelbarrow when we were young. Partook on the "dodentocht" death march (100km walking) The...
