i played both and loved both games but NV is better cause it has way more weapons and companions are better

get fallout NV, its really fallout 3.5, its makes it fixes alot of issues with fallout 3 and theres way more weapons, so you can have different styles of play, i think ive beaten NV like 5 times, each time with a differnt weapons (guns, energy, hand 2 hand, etc)
