Modern Cinematic Example Of Imagination?; Losing Hope

I agree. More recent is Gaspar Noé's film "Enter the Void" (2009), which isn't as good but much weirder. Almost the entirety of it is from an over-the-shoulder point-of-view, which is interesting.

Modern Cinematic Example Of Imagination?; Losing Hope

Perhaps he/she just wants to see some stories original to film, which I can understand. Though to limit yourself in that way is rather foolish, I agree.

Modern Cinematic Example Of Imagination?; Losing Hope

I have no response to that. To me, that's like saying "I hate food". I mean, there are some foods I hate (banana-flavored Laffy Taffy) and some movies I hate ("The Room" (2003)), but there's always something to love. Hopefully these movies will change your mind...? You have come to the...

    Homosexuality as a disorder

Why thank you. OT: At this point, with the warning that sadly had to come at the beginning of the OP, anybody that actually thinks this thread is about homosexuality ought to be reprimanded in some fashion. Nothing too extreme, but perhaps a sting that will make them read more carefully and...

What is your Joie de vivre ?

I want to direct a really good movie before I die. And then after that, another one. And another one, hopefully. And I'd like to just keep directing movies until I die. I don't really care about fame, I can leave that to the actors. I just really enjoy making movies, pretty much more than...

Stupidest thing to ever be banned?

In the late 1800's a Pope (Pope Pius III I think, not sure) tried to ban rationalism. And this is centuries after the Age of Enlightenment, mind.

List of items that a woman can hold and instantly become (even) more attractive.

A Rubik's Cube. That's a little fantasy of mine; teaching a girl how to solve a Rubik's Cube and her enjoying it and thinking I'm cool because I can solve a Rubik's Cube. I'm fairly lonely, yes. Don't mind, though.

    People who are universally liked.

John Darnielle. He isn't very well known, so perhaps that's a contributing factor. Also, anyone that doesn't like Darnielle most likely has the emotional depth of a teaspoon.

What was the last time you experienced joy in gaming?

LittleBigPlanet 2. There's something wonderful about the simple complexity of the missile game, after you play it for a while you realize that there's a huge amount of strategy involved. Plus, freakin' LittleBigPlanet 2!

Why Should I Feel Bad for Being a Jerk?(A Rant)

It seems that the majority of people on this thread recommend not "being a jerk." And the reason is probably fairly obvious- People don't actually like jerks. Now, don't get me wrong, people like to stand next to jerks. But in the end nobody likes a jerk. I'm not a jerk, or at least I...

    Best Narrator, period

Well, if you're talking about pure voice talent, then the obvious choice is Morgan Freeman. However, if you're talking about best-ever written narration in a movie, the choice is Stanley Kubrick/ Anthony Burgess in "A Clockwork Orange." Any film nerd will tell you that. Observe: "We were...

Im getting a PS3 Tuesday. what games?

Orange Box. Orange Box is a must. If you haven't played Half Life 1, you'll still be okay. Watch a walkthrough or read a story synopsis to get yourself caught up. With the Orange Box you get both a lengthy first-person shooter RPG-esque game, with an incredible narrative. You get Portal, one of...

    Most Underrated Band (You Know)

Matt & Kim. Not many people now about Matt & Kim, right. Right? Check out "Daylight" by Matt & Kim. Oh, and Rjd2- although he's only one guy. Check out "Ghostwriter" by Rjd2. Happy Ratatat is finally picking up speed, though.

The new Harry potter movie was dissapointing.

Ouch, only negative Harry Potter comments. Not gonna refute them but I'd like to say that I love Harry Potter. There. However, I agree with your opinion about the seventh movie; while sitting through it I felt like I was watching "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows; Abridged". I don't agree...

    NGGHHH recommend me a film><

I've been reading the posts and I'm really surprised no one has mentioned Donnie Darko. So yeah, Donnie Darko. Many movies about schizophrenia are petty and self-indulgent, but Darko gets it just right. Pretty remarkable film; however, avoid the director's cut. I know that sounds weird, but I...
