Poll: Is is possible for a person's blood to be toxic to spiders?

I answered yes because it's quite likely that there is some protein in someone's blood that could prove harmful to spiders. I don't think that's why you've not been bitten. Also, who leaves cyanide capsules lying around? It's not really that easy to come by.

    Does free will exist?

As much as it goes against my usual behaviour I'm going to comment on this already crowded thread. Forgive me if my point has been suggested before but I only read the first two pages, it's late here, what can I say? I suppose this has got me thinking as to what point a mechanism (chemical or...

    A biology question

You're missing out a very important part of the processes by which life continues. One of which is respiration, the process by which glucose molecules react with oxygen to trap energy within ATP molecules. Plants do this as well as animals. So do protoctista and prokaryotes. Therefore they all...

Poll: Solve a simple math problem

I said 15, but I seemed to miscount the number of plus ones. Oh well, I understand the theory, in fact it's impossible not to understand the theory, bloody eyes have let me down again.

Poll: Cell/Mobile Phone Cancer - What a Surprise.

You're being ironic, right? Goodness I hope so. Anyway, there isn't much I can add to the discussion that hasn't been said already. But it's along the lines of; microwaves have too little energy to ionise molecules, therefore they cannot give rise to somatic mutation within cells, therefore...

What are you playing At the moment or reading?

Playing Thief Deadly Shadows....yeah, I went there. I'm reading The Final Empire by Brandon Sanderson, it's not bad at all.

Poll: Emotion in acting - Film or Stage?

Anyone who can act convincingly on stage will be able to act very convincingly in film, allowing for a similar level of emotional connection. This is why a good few of the "great actors" we think of these days are classically trained. That being said there are of course some very talented...

HIV Vaccine possibly on the way

Well colour me skeptical but I always thought the problem with HIV was the astronomical rate at which it mutates. Then again if they've found a universal antigen marker for it then it can only be a step in the right direction.

Poll: What kind of student are you?

According to a college application site my grades at GCSE translated to an average of 4.17....take that poll.

Two creatures gain intelligence and decided to go to war with each other.

Chimpanzees and sharks. I either get scuba diving chimps or mechanised walking killer fish! Ah.....one day.

Poll: Alright, I wanna see if anyone agrees with me on this...

I really like the Phantom Menace, not because it's a great film but it's the only Star Wars film I can regard as "mine", I grew up with it and while I like the original trilogy as a whole much more than the prequels, Episode I has a special nook in my brain and I expect it'll always be there.

Sony Admits Private PSN Info Has Been Stolen - All Of It

Well at least they're doing something enterprising with their talents. Annoying? I suppose, but nothing too critical, not for me anyway. And at least I have someone to blame if I start getting an inordinate number of Viagra offers in my inbox.

    Debating

Don't script anything. For God's sake don't script anything. I remember last year there was a group of girls who were debating in what sounds like a similar situation. They had written out everything each of them was going to say. They got good marks for it, but oh dear me it was boring. So...

    School

These days I rarely have trouble in any lessons and since we mainly do revision classes these days I spend my time drawing kangaroos of various professions and dispositions. I also spent one biology engaged in a drawing battle with a neighbour that only ended with the application of exploding...
