Something here is not logical...
But it is... just because he stopped BUYING the franchise after Halo 2 doesn't mean he couldn't have RENTED Halo 3.

OT: Viking: Battle for Asgard. Very fun game with an ending that completely ruined the entire experience for me. Seriously, just piss-poor.

Ending to Legend of Zelda Wind Waker pissed me off...
You go through hours of saving hyrule, zelda, ect...

(Spoiler) Just to beat Gannondorf and then have everything go back to normal as if it never happened at all... Kind of like the Ocarina of Time ending which also drove me insane.

Hell, I'll say it now, the game is one of my fav console shooters. But, the ending... Christ...

So your given a choice right, kill someone, and lose your soul forever, or spare him, walk away the bigger man, and remain free. But, it's just an illusion of choice, you HAVE to kill him, try to spare him, and you get killed (which makes no sense considering how many times you've died in the game already) and it's a game over. So, your force to kill him, and it's a bad ending, a short CG movie thats a tad lame. BAH!

NFS Undercover peed me off. The story I didn't realy understand and the ending which in NFS usually ends in some weird plot twist but this was so plain obviious that when the game ended I just looked at it for 5 minuets and said to myself "Oh is that it?"

I got pretty pissed at spore. Instead of hinting that there actually is an end they could have said clean from the start: "NO, there isn't an ending to this shit, so don't even bother.!!"

Other games that comes to mind are Assassins Creed and Fable 2.

Fallout 3. Some really logical reasons were blocked out with the "you must furfill your destiny." Very disappointing after such a great game. Plus you were helped by an invincible ally so you barely get to kill anything and the last boss is equivilant to the fable 2 last "boss."

Wait, the OP stopped buying Halo games after Halo 2 and still bought Halo 3? I'm confused.
he could have bought halo 3 first?
He borrowed the damn game!

But i have to say, and probably everyone else has too, that Fallout 3's ending is what stopped me from absolutely loving the game. It's one of my favourites and would be right at the top but the ending is just too shitty. Grr.. Ending like that.. Damn Bethesda and their weird view of "awesome".

I had the misfortune recently to get that Terminator game free with my new graphics card. The start of that game was bad enough (suddenly you're walking down a road with no explanation. Erm, okay.) and the end was awful; so much so that I'm not even going to tell you what happened as it's not worthy of mention. I find it worrying that people can actually pay to get that game!

The original Redfaction game on the PC was bad. Having gotten over the trauma of the entire world not being destructible as they'd told us it was, only minutes into the game I found the universe's first indestructible rock formation next to a locked door. The ending was literally just that, one minute you're wandering along wondering when they're going to start the build up to the ending sequence and *poof* the end.

You have to love these games that look like they ran out of money. I remember the glory days of the Spectrum and VIC20 where an unfinished game would get released and once you reached this point, the game would just crash and let you look through the code :)

Sure, there's a lot of buildup for a climax involving very little actual conflict, since your invincible ally handles it all for you, but to actually end the story, it was well handled, and gave a good sense of accomplishment.
Play without pets 'n' partners ya bloody wankers!
If you have played fallout 3, you should know what ally we are talking about.

Assassin's Creed. Definitely. " What is that blood?" Oh cmon Ubisoft, you can think up a better ending then that, i know its going to have a sequel but you could have given us more then walking around the room for 10 minutes, its just so anticlimatic. Also, i'd like to mention the drawings on the floor of the room, (the ones in the triangle formation). They seem a cool idea to me but they should have put in a point to them.

MGS4.

Halo 2 was a dumb ending but compared to Halo 1 it was not very good and didn't have high expectations anyway.

But MGS4 is known for it's amazing story and to spite the ending cutscene being as long as a feature length movie it was full of nothing but nonsense, psuedo-philosophical psycho-babble and more cliches than an entire season of a cheesy US sitcom. I mean they brought a long dead character back to life... only to kill him off again! Introduce an apparently fundamentally important character at the last minute... then kill him off.

And then... the Wedding scene... WTF!!! That incredibly emo reunion with Raiden. It is just so sappy and ridiculous. Less a war game and more some melodramatic soap opera.

Compare and contrast with the end of MGS1... final showdown with Snake's evil twin, resolve the few plot points with a brief codec conversation and then ride off into the sunset with the girl (if you were man enough not to give into torture). Classic.

No, he's talking about friggin' Optimus Prime.

OT: Kotor 2's ending was shit. Especially when compared to the rest of the game, wich was just awesome.

Did you not notice the big laser eye shooting, mini nuke throwing anti-communist behemoth of destruction who doesn't take damage and can kill any enemy in 1 or 2 hits?

Although he is awesome, you are delegated to following him around not really doing anything. The fight after you leave him behind, (inside the facility) is that autumn guy, 1 head shot in vats killed him and there was 2 other fellows with miniguns. So much for a final battle.

Sure its cool to see Prime annihilate everything, but you don't really get a fight. At this point I had saved up like 10 mini nukes and like 50 missiles hoping to fight autumn in some experimental armour and laser technology but all I get is a guy in a coat with a laser pistol. Very disappointing.

To elaborate on my point earlier about followers. Like 50% of the followers are immune to radiation - that robot, Charon the ghoul and the Super Mutant. All of them ignore your request for you not to have to kill yourself despite the fact Charon is under a contract to do what you say. What's more, the Narrator in the ending gets pissed at you if you don't kill yourself despite all the good crap you've done while Lyons sits on her arse. She happily expects you to go kill yourself but If you ask her to take the job, she gets all bitchy.

This is bs. Metal Gear was and always has been the story of snake and hideo kojima, taking away both those things is surely a recipe for disaster. Or, at the very least, a game that doesn't feel "right" by MGS standards.
Yes Cause I remember playing as a Korean that would do better making crappy CG movies than cutsceenes.
*hopes no fanboys heard that*

I'm trying to think of mine but I can'yt remeber most game endings after 2 weeks, maybe Half Life 2? No that wasn't bad just weird. Umm I really sdon't know the only ending I ever remember getting to is Portal, and that wasn't horrible just weird aswell. WAit I made a game with a completely atrocious ending once, You almost got into the final room to fight the final boss, then the door doesn't open, so it just exits out, and deletes your save, and tells you you smell.

Probably Pacman; the 256th level is impossible to complete.
It's been beaten. You just need brilliant knowledge of the gameplay mechanics.
