I played KOTOR 2, Fallout 3 (with the expansions so I can play beyond the end), Halo 2, Metal Gear Solid 4, and the worst ending I've seen is Dead Rising. I beat the first mode, then Overtime mode, and then the really tank battle that felt like it was lifted straight from Call of Duty on Veteran and the impossibly hard melee boss battle you had to be at level 50 for, and I was! The ending was a real let down. I spent so much time hacking zombies and such I thought the true ending was going to be an epic ending. It wasn't epic at all. Having to read the end? Wouldn't a tv news story be more fitting?

Assassins Creed. "Ok. Well. End of the game. Have fun sitting in here twiddling your thumbs until a sequel comes out. Bye!"

WORST FINAL BOSS EVAH!!!

Guilty Spark and Lucien from Fable 2. Those two were a lot worse then Gears of War.Hell the latter has an Npc that will kill him first if you don't

Assassin's Creed. Definitely. " What is that blood?" Oh cmon Ubisoft, you can think up a better ending then that, i know its going to have a sequel but you could have given us more then walking around the room for 10 minutes, its just so anticlimatic. Also, i'd like to mention the drawings on the floor of the room, (the ones in the triangle formation). They seem a cool idea to me but they should have put in a point to them.
There is a point to it. It's a puzzel if you solve it your treated with more insite as to what happen to the prisoner before you. While that stuff over the bed is basically stuff about the end of the world. These are for the people who were smart enough to solve it but were not smart enough to steal the pen off of Vidic.

Ratchet and Clank: Tools of Destruction. I knew that next year was going to be a Resistance year, which really pissed me off. Thank god for Quest for Booty, but that didn't help that much.

Endings have rarely been the strong point of game writing, because designers don't really expect you to reach the end 50% of the time (according to recent surveys). Probably why they enjoy making casual games so much, no real ending per se.

I think this thread would be shorter if it were titled '#1 Game Ending that really tied off the storyline in a satisfactory way'.

OT: The ending to Call of Duty 4 made me laugh. Not because of the touching death of some of the lead characters, nor because of the traumatic struggle depicted, but because Griggs raps over the end credits. Seriously? "Deep and Hard"?[/quote]

I disliked that ending purley because Cptn Price is a demigod in khaki and could not possibly have died. The crysis ending was pretty bad too.

Edit: quote has messed up,I must have deleted something improper

Fallout 3. Some really logical reasons were blocked out with the "you must fulfil your destiny." Very disappointing after such a great game. Plus you were helped by an invincible ally so you barely get to kill anything and the last boss is equivalent to the fable 2 last "boss."
...You do realise there is DLC that is essentially continuing on from the ending (its called Broken Steel and you can get up to level 30)

The new Prince of Persia. All that time you spent fixing everything and all you do is release him again and have to start over. I don't have a credit card hooked up to PSN either, so I can't play the epilogue.

Also, I don't know how many people have played this, but Ghosthunter. The whole game was amazing and extremely underrated, but that ending was pure cop-out.

It makes me laugh that nostalgia ruined this game for so many people. If the game was called ANYTHING ELSE, it would have just been a Fallout ripoff, and no one would have minded how drastically different it is from the original two. Personally, I hadn't even heard of the first two(and tactics, I s'ppose, so three) until Fallout 3 was released. I played them, though, and because of all the praise I expected a lot. It fell on its face, though. I really don't see what you guys are seeing in those games other than nostalgia.

Don't get me wrong, I'm all about nostalgia and remembering the past. Hell, I'm a walking Pokemon encyclopedia, but don't look at the past, just play the game you've got right now, and respect it for what it is.
i agree, most people complain about "OOOOH THEY RUINED THE FRANCHIZE!" when quite frankly i dont care about the franchise, and the new developers kept it going even thought it was supposed to fall into oblivion (pardon the pun)

i love fallout 3, and hearing all that from fallout fans saying "1,2 was better" hell, it feels like an insult (well, not really but some guys actually feel "privileged" to have played the "original" games, bunch of elitists), i dont even want to play those games because of all the hype there is, and they don´t realize that they are talking about a game that have the graphic similarity of a snes game, i don´t say its a bad thing, i am saying that 3 made an effort to connect with the new users, he brought fresh blood into the series and allowed for a more varied audience while still telling the story of your beloved franchize (if you think it doesn´t, then you haven´t hacked enough computers in the game).

the "other" fallout 3 was amazing i recon, but the one we got i think is making things actually great for me!.

Resident Evil 5. the game was fun, but the entire story was crap. not to mention the ending just mirrored Resident Evil's ending, and lasted no more than a minute and a half

Jericho... loved the game but the ending... ehh... would have been nice if, you know, something happened...

Halo 2... reminded me of the Matrix Reloaded ending...

Call of Duty 4... middle of a damn gunfight... and then you had to sit through some guy rapping during the credits...

Wait, the OP stopped buying Halo games after Halo 2 and still bought Halo 3? I'm confused.
If you read carefully, he says that he stopped "buying" the franchise. Then he proceeded to say that most of the games he plays are borrowed from his friends, and I have a suspicion (actually, I'm quite sure) that he borrowed Halo 3 from one of his friends.

Sure, there's a lot of buildup for a climax involving very little actual conflict, since your invincible ally handles it all for you, but to actually end the story, it was well handled, and gave a good sense of accomplishment.
Play without pets 'n' partners ya bloody wankers!
If you have played fallout 3, you should know what ally we are talking about.
Oh you mean that girl.. Sara Lyons or something? I ran ahead of her and had to go back and get her xD
Did you not notice the big laser eye shooting, mini nuke throwing anti-communist behemoth of destruction who doesn't take damage and can kill any enemy in 1 or 2 hits?

Although he is awesome, you are delegated to following him around not really doing anything. The fight after you leave him behind, (inside the facility) is that autumn guy, 1 head shot in vats killed him and there was 2 other fellows with miniguns. So much for a final battle.

Sure its cool to see Prime annihilate everything, but you don't really get a fight. At this point I had saved up like 10 mini nukes and like 50 missiles hoping to fight autumn in some experimental armour and laser technology but all I get is a guy in a coat with a laser pistol. Very disappointing.

To elaborate on my point earlier about followers. Like 50% of the followers are immune to radiation - that robot, Charon the ghoul and the Super Mutant. All of them ignore your request for you not to have to kill yourself despite the fact Charon is under a contract to do what you say. What's more, the Narrator in the ending gets pissed at you if you don't kill yourself despite all the good crap you've done while Lyons sits on her arse. She happily expects you to go kill yourself but If you ask her to take the job, she gets all bitchy.
Ah lol sorry I thought you ment in the ending INSIDE the memorial :p Even tho I still got a good fight alongside the robot, he missed alot of enemies for me :] tho inside still really was too easy, BB Gun for the win! Come to think about it.. was there ever any actual boss in the game? Only closest thing to a boss fight I can remember was when I fought a Behemoth when I was really low level.

Not too long ago I would have said Alone in the Dark, having only had played the wii version. However I've recently gotten a hold of the PC version and now (helped by the fact that it's presented a damn sight better) find myself defending it. I think the reason it's gotten so much backlash is that people aren't content with the main plot left hanging. The entire game is structured to resemble a TV drama. Now take a minute to think and tell me one TV series which hasn't ended on a cliff hanger. I personally found it came to a satisfying climax and left me waiting impatiently to see where they take it from there.

Having said that, the root burning concept; bloody terrible idea.

(This probably seems off topic, so to wrangle it back in: Alone in the Dark "'"WII VERSION"'" ticked me off when I finally finished it.

Clive Barker's Jericho, there wasn't an ending, it just cut to the credits mid-scene. Really ruined the entire experience of the game after the rest had been pretty awesome.

Next time you want to spend 14 hours saving the world and then be forced to undo it all in 5 fucking minutes, play Prince of Persia.
