So escapists what is your opinion about us. I say "us" because I am in that age group.
We've all played COD before, haven't we? Well remember those kids on the mic who started saying stuff like
the "N-word" trying to act all tough and that.
Escapists, what is your opinion about this age group?
(This is my first thread forgive me for anything i did wrong)
I can appreciate your dilemma, you clearly are interested in "M rated" games like Halo, CoD and Gears of War but officially you are not allowed to play such games.
For example there is almost a complete absence of any worth while online shooter that is rated as "age appropriate"
Also frankly although 10-15 year old can enjoy playing such games with each other, anyone 16-60 find you annoying as all hell due to in general your:
-gaming incompetence, relying on dumb tactics
-verbal immaturity
-poor grasp of good gamesmanship
-terrible sense of entitlement
I know there are exceptions, there are 12 year old that are mature and 30 year old that are immature, but generally those are so few and far between they get quashed out.
I find it pretty sad that officially gamers can't play ALL these games till they are 17:
-borderlands
-FEAR 2
-Killing Floor
-Left 4 dead 2
-Assassin's Creed 2
-Bad Company 2
-bioshock
-Mass effect 2
-Black Ops
Till 17 all you can play are the likes of:
-Mirror's Edge
-uncharted 2
-Street Fighter IV
-Most racing games
Considering gaming is not like movies, it's not something you can just come to at any age but must be brought up on it, become "game literate" in terms of learning hand-eye co-ordination of the controls, it doesn't seem right to exclude such a huge proportion of modern works to those 17+.
Whether that is the fault of the developers making games so violent or the censors being too stringent, either way I still believe young teens should be able to play GREAT games like Bioshock and Half life 2 even if they are M-rated.
Obviously the likes of GTA4 are not appropriate, yet they have the same rating, crazy I know, there NEEDS to be reform!
