some of the best movies were of course based off books...now that video games are reaching a level of epic storytelling, they might make a good movie if handled with care.xmetatr0nx said:

MGS needs to never be made into a movie. Who on earth could do an action movie based on a game that was Deconstructing American action movies? No one would get it. So no.
I wanna say BioShock, but the thing with the Big Twist was that the game took hours and hours (well... depending on your gaming speed, takes me about five hours personally) to get to the twist, but since a movie's so short, it may be too easy to catch the Arc Words, yanno? So it'd take some skill to do, but it'd be possible.
Hope they change the ending though.

That list to me seems more of a list of games that "would make cool movies". Which imo is something different from a game that *should* be a movie. Oregon Trail would probably make a good drama movie, yup. Max Payne *should* be a movie (a good one anyway).
That said, alongside Max Payne, I think the Tiberium dawn/sun/wars franchise would make for interesting (possibly dune-like) movies. Same goes for the Heroes of Might and Magic series, Assassin's Creed and Warcraft, though I guess the latter one's already being turned into a movie.

-ahem- Back to the topic at hand. I heard a Gears movie was being made. If they could make it as epic as Epic did, I'd see it. Others that come to mind are Starcraft/Warcraft, Soul Calibur and GTA (even though the stories in those were never that amazing...)
