I know it's a necro-thread but I can't help it.

Clearly the most emotional game is Crysis 3, it clearly has the most polygons. And as our great and wise leader David Cage dictates: Polygons are Emotions.
No no, he's french remember? Direct translation: Polygons IS Emotions!

To the moon
It's more of an interactive story than a game. But it's a really touching one.

Saints Row The Third a mere few hours ago.

There I was in a VTOL listening to the ATHF theme and then intercutting it once with ladies and gentlement by saliva and I was having an awesome time. Even finished off in the A-10 listening to the ATHF theme again.

"But wait, that's not emotional!"

I tend to count "Fuck yeah, this is awesome!" as an emotion, so bugger off.

Either the Walking Dead game or The Darkness (first one).

The former because goddamn...it was just an emotional rollercoaster from beginning to end. The latter because of two very specific scenes involving your in game girlfriend which I won't spoil.
Do you reckon it's still worth playing even if it's been spoiled for you? I kinda played the second Darkness first :p.

The ending to ACR. Whoever wrote the last cutscene and Altair memory deserves a medal/national holiday as that scene is better than most games.
That was beautiful. But as a veteran AC fan, I think AC:R is the most emotion driven game of them all. Just seeing Ezio so old and away from his home trying to finally find some answers really got to me. And the culmination of his story couldn't have been better. The writing was perfect.

Mass Effect has it's moments of awesomeness, anger and deep sadness. Hell, with that damn ending it's probably the most emotional game I played. Never before have I wanted to burn down an orphanage.

An honorable mention goes to the manliest of men

It's quite interesting reading all the comments about the Mass Effect series from before Bioware trolled us all.

Portal 2 - just that moment - the Lunacy - first there's the heart pounding "OH GOD WHAT'S HAPPENING WILL CHELL MAKE IT (find out on the next episode of - )" Then how after that it's just forgiveness/co-operation of everyone and everything coming together, and then suddenly - it's over...

It's finally over.. Yet I want more.

Not many games make me feel emotional but I guess ones that have are:

Bastion: just most of the game really
Mass effect 2: The final mission actually made me build adrenaline, which was really weird but cool at the same time.
And funny enough Cod4:
When sgt paul jackson, (aka your player) dies. I just really wasn't expecting it.

Well, by saying emotional we don't necessary mean made us cry, right?
If we talking about raw emotion Persona 3 ending was like kick in the stomach. Well, once I realized what happened that is. I was depressed for about a week after that.

Planescape: Torment. Discovering certain things along the way about yourself, your companions and your history/present circumstances was heartbreaking. In part because it was your (the Nameless One's) fault, in some way, shape or form. Hard to do that without being preachy or breaking the fourth wall, but it was done.

I found Metal Gear Solid 3 to be pretty emotional, that final screen when Big Boss salutes just really got to me!

Mass Effect 2 but mainly 3.
Fallout 3. The way the world is crafted makes me feel about everyone living there, and all the characters have interesting personalities. Especially Amata, I'll never forget you!

I have a few - Ninja Gaiden for the NES, KOTOR for XBOX, and Tomb Raider Legend. Those are all emotional stories. They didn't make me cry, but I did find myself glued to the contoller with anxiety.
