Writting his intelligence off simply because he's 12 is a mistake, methinks. Them 12 year olds can be rather crafty.

I say he's either crafty, or an idiot.
LMAO. Dude the PR line was hillarious. If you seriously believe that, then you ain't much brighter then you claim this twelve year old to be. IF he lied AT ALL about this it would be because his parents have threatened to take WoW away or something. NOT for a PR boost for a company blah, blah, blah. That's rediculous.

So in your mind he is either stupid or on a crusade FOR WoW. Who cares what this kid attributes his actions to? Why are you so worked up about it? Sounds to me like you are on a crusade against WoW. And seriously underestimate the common sense on these boards.

Don't get me wrong, I think WoW is a blight on gaming personally. But good for this kid.
I'm sorry, what? I never said any of that, or anything to imply that. You're looking for things that ain't there...

The word 'may' is key, there. I'm not saying anything definitive. As I said in my response above, I'm using hypotheticals.
In other words you find this scenario quite plausible:
Siblings, a boy and a girl, walk in woods.
Moose approaches. The kids do not notice it.
Eventually the kids intrude upon the territory of the animal, which then moves to attack.
The boy, seeing the moose aiming for his sister, starts flailing his arms in a desperate and brave attempt to make sure at least his sister makes it to safety.
The moose turns its attention towards the boy, while the girl flees.
The boy plays dead, and is eventuelly left alone by the moose.

Boy is then, shortly after, interviewed about the events. Before the interview, though, he has be pondering how to turn the whole incident into a public-relations boost for videogames in general. He is chairman of his high school debate team, even though he is 12, and has already been awarded an honorary Ph.d. in common sense by the nearby university for smart children.
Having pondered this, he decides to sit and smile with the reporter, calmly stating that he had his knowledge from his favourite video-game, World of Warcraft, instead of a Hunter's Survivors Manual - which is the actual truth! The kid had been reading that book that same day, so it was quite an enormous coincidense!!
No... You, too, are finding words that I haven't actually said...

If your attacked, well the fetel position may be the best, but a bear attack is a bear attack, and it will most certainly mess you up good no matter what you do.

But anyway.

This reminds me of a discussion I read once on some Failblog-esque site, where a bunch of people were discussing whether it would be better to shoot at an attacking bear or try to escape some other way. There was a picture of a bear standing at the base of a tree, snarling at the person standing in the branches. There were a lot of people who had absolutely no idea what kind of skill and firepower it would take to kill a bear- people suggesting things like Desert Eagles and 12 gauge buckshot would be enough. Sort of frightening to think about.

So as I had apparently misunderstood what you meant, I asked what you did indeed mean. In response to this, you copy-paste the very same statement to me. This did not clarify anything...

Would you like to try again? :)

This could have gone quite different:

"12 year old boy tries to spam grenades on moose...family still waiting on his respawn."

Hahaha moose attack. Of all the animals to attack her a bloody moose.

Anyway it has nothing to do with WoW, just common sense.
Moose can be quite aggressive. They are also incredibly strong. Don't fuck with them or get near them while camping.

Seriously though, they are the most underestimated animal in Canada.

"Oh, its just a moose. Nothing to *scream* AHHHH, my spine!"

I'm sorry if you can't understand a simple sentence. Just sit there and stare at it till you get it, I guess.

I think it is awesome because it did work out for him. What isn't awesome about it is the fact that a 12 year old and a younger sibling were aloud to go wondering in the woods without supervision even though you would know that this mosse territory was nearby.

That... Is... AWESOME!!!!

Does nobody else find this hilarious? I mean, thank god it worked, but the fact that the kid actually did this, let alone knew what the word "taunt" means is amazing! Survival skills from WoW... that's fantastic...

I'm not so sure it's simple, but I think what the fine gentleman above me meant was "I was going to say that first."

If this kid tried to kill the moose like another tactic in WoW by yelling "Thunderbolt!Thunderbolt!" at the moose, this story would be very very different.

What an elitist. It's impossible to spin that in another direction so its proper that you just bow out.

I understand it. You're saying that it could be that the kid wanted to PR boost gaming with this unique oppurtunity. Although to a kid, WoW and gaming looks like it needs no help. WoW boast the biggest numbers of an MMO on the market and the gaming industry is pulling is enough money to compete with the most popular forms of entertainment. The slight variances through publicity are virtually undetectable to a child. And this minor issue was probably the least thing on his mind when his butt (having been alive for only ~8 comprehensible years) was facing death probably less than a few days prior to this interview. Now, with all this drama that probably surrounded him the next few days, I doubt he was worried about the video game industry but most likely he told the truth - or a variation of it.
