This is something you would expect in the most corrupt and disturbing fascist states in history. The mere notion that the act is going to be discussed from being right or wrong in the supreme court sickens me. Though it really doesn't fucking surprise me anymore.
Where have you been? This kind of shit is common now...

Just to add in some information, federal law allows for "the removal of any and all rights of a minor at behest of the government, parents, or legal guardians if it is deemed necessary." This is one of the main reasons why people above the age of 21 cannot enroll in the public school system. I believe it's the same clause that sets up the ability to sue in court if a citizen's rights are violated.

However, I feel that this is gross misconduct of that law and should be sued over. It was not in the child's, the teacher's, anyone's better interest. It was ibuprofen, for crying out loud. A slap-on-the-hand punishment is good enough for breaking the useless rule. This world has gone insane.

If I had been one of the teachers that was told to search her like that I would've told the vice-principal to shove it. Orders or not, there are certain lines you don't cross.

This is dumb is so many ways. The police have to get a warrent before they search somebody(unless they're carring a weapon.) why should the schools be any different?

To do this over something as harmless is even more dumb.

They won't rot in a cell. But I hope someone beats the f**k out of them. If I found out one of my female friends had been strip searched for freakin ibuprofen my fist and I would have a word with the pricipal. And then I would probably get expelled, but at least they won't be doing that again.

I hope the Chief Justice goes down and smacks the douches who did this.

FFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU-

Ok.. need to calm down. As previously stated, this search was totally unwarranted and undeserving of a thirteen year old girl. And, as also previously stated, I would beat the s**t out of the people who did it.

I'm surprised by how many people are upset over the fact that the Supreme Court is making a decision on this. Even if you think the decision is an easy one, it's a Constitutional Rights decision which is going to set precedence for a school's abilities to conduct searches on its students. It's the kind of case that the Supreme Court was set up for.

I'm not disagreeing... I completely agree that it's a totally f***ed up state of affairs, and utterly shambolic that it is required to even be discussed by the supreme court, it is nothing short of a travisty of justice.

The world is a totally f***ed place at times...
Wasn't trying to say you disagreed or anything, I just took an opportunity to rant some more.
Oh! My bad! You're more than welcome to rant as much as you like on the subject... someone must!

i read the article and thats just insane.

Seriously now?
just for pills?

If the supreme court doesnt see this wrong i dont know what they wont find wrong

LEGAL pills at that. My mom bought 200 150mg pills when I had isotretinoin. No one made a dirty look, why you may ask? BECAUSE ITS POSITIVELY PERFECTLY BROTHERFUCKING LEGAL. Its not even like you can commit sucide on the damn things, all will happen is you will end up hurting like you got raped with a sandpaper condom and having to suck down a thick charcoal milkshake.

And if they rule in favour of granting schools the right to make a girl strip for legal pills?

Was it even done by a woman police officer? If not that could also warrant a sexual assualt/abuse case.
Nor authorities or guardians were informed. It was conducted by school staff, a female assistant and a school-nurse I do believe. It is disturbing regardless of gender, but if it were males that searched her, yes it would have been disgusting.
Fuck me, it was done by someone without any actual authority to do so?!
1) Even if it was a woman, you could file a sexual assualt case, especially if the woman was a lesbian.
2) Jeez! No authority? That's just screwed up...damn. For Motrin? Although, if it was prescription strength, I can understand her being called to the office, but not strip-searched. Expecially by nurses...

I don't think that schools should have the right to do stuff like this (assuming they actually do). It's definitely a violation of privacy. If stuff like this needs to be done, it shouldn't be a random "on the spot" thing. There should be a real concern and cause for suspicion (like another student says that they saw another selling drugs, etc.).
Thing is, another student was caught with pills, and when confronted, she said "Oh, she gave/sold them to me..." Of course, nobody who was guilty ever tried to pass the buck. [/sarcasm]

As has been said, this is complete bullshit. I really don't know what else to say.

I'm just not surprised by this stuff anymore. It's all typical these days, there's at least 1 shooting a month now.

Yeah, the definitely need more solid evidence before doing an entire strip search. As a matter of fact, if it's a complete strip search, they damn well better have solid evidence and be in immediate danger. I agree with you; it's total BS.

I have a feeling the search wasn't just for the Ibuprofen. There's clearly something wrong with whoever approved/conducted the search, and they need to be taken out of the school.

And I wasn't just making a joke about the school personnel being pedophiles. If these people really thought that the danger posed by medicine was worth an immediate strip search, they need to be psychologically evaluated. The fact that they would need to be that crazy is what leads me to believe that they may have had some alternate motivation.

Only law enforcement officials, with a warrant, should be able to strip search people with no prior criminal record.
