Ok, that's just awesome :D Well, 0.0030938... from being perfectly, head-explodingly awesome, but still pretty damn awesome ^_^

Poor Douglas Adams.. he mentioned in an interview once that he chose 42 because he was looking for something that was not in any way significant.
I guess he didn't realise that he was taking up some sort of messianic role - an unwitting prophet, lol. If there's a heaven, I bet he's busy up there laughing at it too :)

Holy shit thats awesome, but...whats the discussion?
I love seeing this at the start of six pages of discussion. The discussion is the fact that it is awesome.

OT - That is AWESOME!

Am I the only one who doesn't understand this? No, because I'm never the only one.

Seriously, can someone fill me in? I don't understand why everyone is OMGAWSUM'd...
Pi is an awesome number. According to the Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy (which is a book of almost biblical importance to me and people like me) the answer to life, the universe, and everything is 42 (go read it if you're still confused). And 1337 is 1337speak for elite, and that's probably the most well known example of 1337speak on the internet. Anything else you need to know?
I knew the 1337 thing, and if you're on about Pi as in 3.14 (approximation) then yes I got that. It was mainly the 42 thing that confused me.

I think the question still remains though, why do we care? Are we trying to surmise that 1337speak and Mathematics are all you need to open life's console and start spawning flaming Cthulhu's in a random continent?
EXACTLY!

Of course, it all makes sense now! The entire universe must be balanced upon these three divine constants.

Anyone want to start a cult?
I'm in.

OT: is THIS really the extent of discussion here? whatever.

1337 came from hackers, not gamers.
Yes, but gamers started using it and hackers said, "Fuck this shit." Some still use it, but it's nowhere near as popular among hackers, mainly because of how god damn popular it is with everyone else.

In all seriousness though, I've seen more impressive things on the side of chipboard walls
