"Riding a Black Unicorn Down the Side of an Erupting Volcano While Drinking from a Chalice Filled with the Laughter of Small Children!" by Voltaire is easily the best album of the year for me. After that comes Endgame, then the new Decemberists album.

Probably my favorite album of the year was RHCP's Im With You. other than that, ive just liked some individual songs from different artists.

Though I broke up with someone this year, and Adele's Someone Like You has taken special meaning to them cause it makes them think of me. so i guess thats a personal top song (i like the song to be honest).

My favourite album that came out this year would be Hot Sauce Committee Part Two by the Beastie Boys. I discovered them this year so I bought their latest album, I love it.
Totally Agreed, the Beastie boys are one of very few groups who haven't really gotten worse with age.

I was really disappointed by Megadeth, Mastodon, and COB's latest albums.

I loved Kittie's album I've Failed You, it was amazing and it's been listened to quite a bit.

I also liked Anthrax's Worship Music, I was surprised since I wasn't a huge fan of their last album, but this made me smile.

I only have three:
3.Devin Townsend Project-Ghost
2.Animals as Leaders-Weightless
1.Devin Townsend Project-Deconstruction

Most of the other albums I've bought this year were older

How long has it been, a bit over 20 years? They're still full of energy, comparing what they were like in their early years, and just as wacky.

Although I don't know the album as a whole, I quite like Never Dead. It's featured in an upcoming videogame.

Definitely Lulu by Metallica and Lou Reed....the defining album of our generation, one that will shape the course of metal and music itself in the years to come...

Come now, you're frightening all the children with your horror stories.
...Oh god, why did you have to remind me of that... That thing?!
*ahem*
Back on topic, pretty much all of my favourite albums of 2011 have been mentioned already; Dream Theater's ADToE, while I don't personally rate it as one of my favourites it's still a very good album; Mastodon's 'The Hunter' and Elbow's 'Build A Rocket, Boys!' of course, and to be honest I like Megadeth but 'Th-One-Rt-Three-En' was a disappointment if I'm honest. The title doesn't really make any sense either, now that I look at it.

My Top 3:

3) Korn's Path of Totality - It took freakin' Korn to convince me that dubstep doesn't entirely suck. Favorite Track: "Narcissistic Cannibal."

2) Blink 182's Neighborhoods - Welcome back guys. It's been waaaay too long! And unlike DNF, you didn't disappoint. Favorite Track: "Snake Charmer."

1) Hollywood Undead's American Tragedy - They got rid of the emo-ness (completely) and constant talk of "chugging 40's" (mostly). It amazes me how much they've matured in just one album's time. Favorite Track: "Comin' in Hot."

There's been quite a lot I've liked this year.

Alestorm - Back Through Time
Amon Amarth - Surtur Rising
Chthonic - Takasago Army
Iwrestledabearonce - Ruining it for Everyone
Korpiklaani - Ukon Wacka
Machine Head - Unto the Locust
Rhapsody of Fire - From Chaos to Eternity
Skindred - Union Black
Turisas - Stand Up and Fight
Tyr - The Lay of Thrym
Van Canto - Break the Silence
Voyager - The Meaning of I

That's pretty much everything :)

Ack, seems like all the music I've listened to this year has been from last year.
The only albums I can think of from this year have been Chase & Status' No More Idols, and Foo Fighters' Wasting Light.

It's all about 2012: Kicking off with Enter Shikari's A Flash Flood Of Colour, before both Muse AND Biffy Clyro release their 6th albums!
I'm far more excited for Shikari's third album than I was for Christmas, I'm going to be honest.
Already ordered my signed Deluxe bundle, and got tickets to see them at the Hammersmith Apollo next March.

The only 2011 album I actually know off is Fallen Empires- Snow Patrol. And I only know that one because I got it today... And it's not better than their older albums anyway...

MTV ruined my Christmas by giving lady gaga the "best song 2011" award. I had only just turned on the tv.

Dubstep seemed to appear this year. And Rebecca Black. And Bruno Mars. And Adele... The last two wouldn't be that bad if it wasn't for radio's over playing everything.

Music this year was pretty crap as far as I'm concerned.

I had to listen to old music and ska because its actually good.

The Best Album Released this year has gotta be "The Smile Sessions" from the Beach Boys:

But if you want an album that was started this year and not over 40 years ago, I guess I'll pick "In The Mountain In The Cloud" by Portugal. The Man:

Although I only really like Psychedelic Rock, so my Tastes are really picky.

In no particular order:

Foo Fighters - Wasting Light
Arctic Monkeys - Suck it and See
The Strokes - Angles
The Wombats - This Modern Glitch
White Lies - Ritual
Miles Kane - The Colour of the Trap
Friendly Fires - Pala
Elbow - Build a Rocket Boys!

There's probably far more than this but that's what comes to mind while skimming through my iTunes library.
