Each squad has one leader, with seven subordinates. The people in the squad can chat with each other, while the squad leader has a dedicated channel to talk to other squad leaders. Four squads will equal a platoon, which has its own commander, issuing orders to the squad leaders on their own dedicated chat channel. Four platoons make the team of 128 (its called a company) and it has one overall leader issuing orders to the four platoon leaders. The responsibility is broken into pieces.
Squad A is tasked with covering Squad B's attempt to detonate explosives on a bridge, while Squads C and D are storming the barricade. Its not one person commanding 32, its four people commanding their respective squads.
And not anybody just gets to be a leader, you have to earn some XP and enlist in an officer tree. So some games, you might be a squad leader, other times you might just be following orders
