Tell us what you think a game would be like in 2nd Person View. Not 1st like Half-Life, not third like Shadow of the Colossus, but second.

I always thought second person was when some other character's eyes was the camara.

Like if you controlled a superhero, and saw through the eyes of his sidekick.

Wouldn't that mean playing as a character watching the action being played? 0_o

Just watch a mate play a game and you've pretty much got it covered...

Playing a game from the view point of a non player controlled character? That would not work at all. Control would be IMPOSSIBLE because you'd have to think of what your character can see... and such... Plus, the non-player controlled person can screw you up SO easily.

I had an idea that you were escorting a person, and you see through that person. they always are trying to watch you, but you control the motion and action of the main character

A game which emphasizes player choice such as the Persona series or any given Bioware game would be second-person, because they imply that you, the player, are making choices and existing in a world.

I guess 2nd person view would be considered Fixed camera view, where u have no control over the camera and it watched you as you go through different levels.

I think this would be a good example.

I'm pretty sure you can't do that with a game, correct me if I'm wrong.
The view of the person getting affected by the character you play? It could work. It would be really convoluted and strange, but it could be done.

those are good examples, but i mean an actual person you see through as just the camera, so in otherwords, its would be like cloverfield in game form, but you control a person besides the camera man.

Ah I think I've got a good analog for it now.

Imagine driving a RC car in real life. You control this RC's every move, where it goes, when it stops, and how it does it. However, you dont see anything from the RC's point of view. Instead, you see from where you sit.

You can watch the RC wherever it goes, but, you are a seperate entity. Maybe this qualifies as second person?

Other theory would be the same as my first one. Except this time, I added First, Second, and Third person pronouns as analogues to help demonstrate the possible connections, and maybe even what the second person view would entail.

First person: eyes of the character:::: English pronouns associated with it (I, me, myself)

3rd person: a camara that is not through the eyes of the player, or any other character, a camara floating over a shoulder, or in the corner of the room ::: English Pronouns associated with this form (them, they, it)

so logically, Second Person would be::: Eyes of another character, such as your sidekick, or an enemy ::: English pronouns associated with it (you, yourself) Except in this case, "you" would be referring to another character that you are not in control of, not "you" the player.

I know this makes no sense but its the best I can come up with

First Person: Through the eyes of the hero.
Second Person: Through the eyes of someone else, but you still control the hero.
Third Person: An "over the shoulder" view.

That's still 3rd person, 2nd person would be like looking through the eyes of someone staring at you like when psycho mantis took over meryles body in MGS1, and for a bit you could see her staring at you creepily. It'll also be completely retarded looking if you tried to make a full game based on that.

Proper second person wouldn't work as the moment you control a character (regardless of camera) it's still technically third person. I think true second person would be you just controlling the camera watching the action take place. Problem is there would be no gameplay. It would be kinda like a movie where you are the camera.

What your thinking of is just third person but with a different camera view.
