I'm not much of a history buff, but here's at least a couple in the United States off the top of my head:
1) Ralph Baer (technically, he's German-American, but whatever)
2) Thomas Edison

(I'll think up a third later)

I felt like making a random thread, so here it is.

Pick a country, only one, and name 3 people it has contributed to the world that we should be thankful for. You do not have to explain why you picked those three people, but if you feel like it, go ahead. You may also include 2-3 runners up.

My three picks are from Great Britain.
1. Jeremy Clarkson
2. Hugh Laurie
3. Stephen Fry

Runners up are Steve Coogan and Alan Davies.
Two of my picks, before I even saw the thread!

...

OT:
1. Stephen Fry.

2. Hugh Laurie.

3. Rowan Atkinson.

But they're not really in order, they're all as good as each other!

You should be thrown in prison and give you school books to read!!!!!!!!

Nikola Tesla is not from USA but from Croatia. And if you say that he made his research in US you are wrong he made his design back at home Croatia. Damn all americans wants to take credits for everything (bet in 2 years from now you will say that nasa navigation display board programs was made by US witch is not is made in our country Slovenia).

This is nothing personally but I just hate that someone tell Nikola Tesla comes from US or that he made his work there (only build was there but design was already made in Croatia).

I still dont think Einstein counts... the US didnt "contribute" Eintein really, he just did his thing there he could have done it anywhere... but you probably still disagree

2. Pedro Álvares Cabral (discovered Brazil)
3. Me Magellan (sailed around the world, proving that the Earth was, indeed, not flat)

Is it me or we didn't do much after the 15th century?

You can't take Von Braun and Einstein... Its just not true. Einstein spent time in the UK as well... You can just as easily credit him from Britain, but it just isn't true. And Von Braun didn't go to the US by choice.
There are plenty of actualy Americans who have contributed to the world.

UK:
- Sir Tim Berners-Lee, inventor of the World Wide Web. (Not the internet, that was just some code to let computers connect, not such an amazing leap of logic as the web).
- John Baird, Scottish inventor of the Television.
- Isaac Newton.

I can't think of many, but I could still probably come up with one better than that. Me thinks someone is a little bias. And you listen to ABBA, and you love Chuck Norris... Me thinks troll?

Anyway, for Canada. A lot of the scientists were immigrants, so...

This may count as three or four or whatever, but Three Days Grace.
I can't think of any others because most of them are musicians I hate.
