I think the article says the parents are afraid if their child, not disciplining the thing. Disciplining becomes different altogether when the kid can fight back and do some damage. At 3 years old, he does not have the same concepts of restraint that a more ... developed child might have.

I personally want to know what his vision is like. Not a single photo shows his eyes. They're all squinted together with fat and chipmunk cheeks.

Also, I realize this child obviously has some sort of problem, be it thyroid or otherwise, but that doesnt give him the right to enslave his parents.
