Huh? Rage is being released in like 13 days... I'm confused... But anyway, it will never be nearly as good as the original. If it is better than the Wii version it will be a miracle...

Finally, another Blood Stone fan! I just loved that game. The melee takedowns were super satisfying and the gameplay was surprisingly fun and varied.

What about Rogue Agent? They tried to copy the multiplayer of Goldeneye into that and it didn't work at all, with the weird mechanics and overcomplicated trickery. The sci-fi story didn't help. It's pretty much a 007 fail all around.

Why don't people get this excited about Timesplitters? Almost all the same guys were involved in that game series. They used every opportunity to make an even better water cooler "best multiplayer of all time" game, and I feel like they succeeded. It's Goldeneye turned up to 11! Why do people keep stubbornly hanging on to Goldeneye?
I'm a James Bond fan first and foremost. That's why i'm excited for this and not "Timesplitters", whatever that is.
To be honest, I'm not sure if this is just a troll/joke thread or not, but I'm going to give you the benefit of the doubt and pretend you are really this excited for the Goldeneye remake HD or whatever.

In that case, leave your house, go to your closest games retailer, go buy a copy of Timesplitters 2 or 3, sit your ass down and play.

Timesplitters was made by the same team who created the original Goldeneye, and is one of the best shooters ever created. Funny, original and incredibly entertaining. Do yourself a favour and play it.

Honestly, if you really think Call of Duty: Goldeneye is GOTY for you, then more power to you. In my opinion, Activision should try more varied aesthetics like Star Wars, Medevil themes, or even a Doctor Who theme (just brainstorming).
Two of those three requires licensing; considering how keen Activision is on financial risk ("Our objective is to create many iterations from few, popular IPs" read: milk them), and that

A.) 2 of those 3 ideas requires licensing, neither of which are easy to obtain (Lucas Arts generally keeps all rights/would want a cut of DLC/map-packs; BBC is just not known for licensing things like that and it'd probably involve lots of paperwork and them actually believing you'd be "true to the series" which they most definitely would not be).

B.) One of those isn't a modern military FPS at all, for obvious reasons, and that's what their team is- and all of what their team is, to be quite frank- good at.

C.) Why do something that hasn't already had a money-making iteration when you're at the beck and call of both investors and your own purse? Statistically, it doesn't sell, so no-one's putting money on it with venture-capital situations being what they are and the Video Game Industry being what it is and perhaps always will be (highly fucking variable).

uh yeah, playing a copy of golden eye on an N64, I can tell you without hesitation that the game has aged horribly.

Then I tried it on an emulator, where I could make the controls whatever I want, and I still found the game was crap.

And didn't they already remake golden eye, like, what, last year? isn't it kinda soon to remake it again?

Never played Goldeneye, probably going to buy it. However I think it won?t be as good as Crysis 2, Bulletstorm, Deus EX Human Revolution, Battlefield 3 or Serious Sam BFE.

October 25th is going to be awesome. Especially as most of the retarded members of the FPS community will be busy pew pewing each other on Battlefield, like brutes.

I can't wait.
FPS are not inherently sophisticated at all. Right down at the bottom it is point this at the thing until it goes away, Goldeneye is absolutely no exception. There's no finesse, just shoot and don't miss.
Sums it up quite nicely, It's another, Meh game.

Although to be fair, the story, and character(s), and settings will be much more interesting than a Battlefield game.

Battlefield definitely has better graphics though. Nothing beats the Frostbite engine.

That's the thing. No one cares about an interesting setting, characters, or story in a BF game. As much of a gaming snob as I often am, sometimes I just want really good distructo scenery that's actually useful in gameplay.

AHHHH Double Thread!

Edit: Nevermind, they got merged before I could double post in the both threads
You've been drinking, there was no double thread..
Well now's there's not....but just like we landed on the moon there were 2 threads
Looks like your derailing the thread, you wouldn't like to do that.
I'm guessing I wouldn't like you when you're angry

.

So I would like to retract my earlier statement, there was never 2 threads

OT[footnote]Don't punish me, I can change my ways. See?![/footnote]: This is a game I'll probably buy or at least take a look at. I mean it's James Bond, he's always worth a shot

I enjoyed the movies, but the literary Bond is the more interesting character.

The intricacies of that (which were present in Casino Royale and Quantum of Solace) must have escaped you.
He was back when Fleming wrote the books, nowadays he's just nothing special. There's a ton of gritty action heroes, and Bond has now become one of them. He has lost his own identity, the identity that would actually make him stand out and something different nowadays. The identity that made him fun.

And no, the 'intricacies' didn't escape me, they just made me yawn in a "Been there, done that" way. I want the old, fun Bond back, I don't give a shit about an 'interesting' character. There's enough gritty action crap out there, Bond doesn't have to join them, let him stay fun.

They did escape you if you consider him to be like "every other action hero".

I and the other purists appreciate the direction the series has taken. While the flamboyance and gadgetry was fun, Die Another Day was just ridiculous and the series needed a reboot to stay relevant.

If you don't like / don't understand the new direction, you don't have to keep watching.

Goldeneyes for N64 is considered a classic, and I have fond memories of it. Goldeneye for the Wii (thats bieng remade for Xbox 360/PS3) was a above average shooter, if not a great game. Probably a better purchase on Wii if you don't have a Xbox/Ps3 than on Xbox were there are plenty of other, and probably better shooters around.

I'd MUCH rather be playing BF3 than this old ass game. There is little chance that it will top Rage, BF3 or even MW3 (can't believe I just said that).
Don't feel too bad about it. Since the Wii version was from what roughly every reviewer said a ripoff of the Wii version of the CoD games just made by different people. So it will be people trying to make CoD but not have any of the people who worked on CoD. So don't worry about that last statement since it's almost certainly going to be true. Personally I'm waiting for Rage but to each his own I suppose.

I have two words to say:
Duke. Nukem.

Any questions?

EDIT: To clear up confusion that has been had, I mean that Duke Nukem had a lot of hype, similar to this, and it did NOT live up to it. Just don't get too excited :c

Yea you're right, the fps of the year is going to be released on october 25, Its name is

BATTLEFIELD 3

golden eye is outdated and giving it adequate new graphics isn't going to bring back to life a long dead game.
