This should be simple murder. Screw manslaughter. She may not have intended to kill him when she hit him, but there is clear sign of negligence in failing to seek medical assistance.

Bang the ***** up and throw away the key.

Whenever people bring up negative press about the Wii because of broken TVs, normally I just roll my eyes and mention that the people are in the wrong for not wearing the safety strap, but there's QUITE a difference between a simple eye-rolling and F'TAGHNING BEATING SOMEONE TO DEATH! I don't care if it was accidental, I don't want her future to be enjoyable after this. Not neccessarily death penalty, but certainly something agonising. Do I sound sadistic? Yes. Does she deserve something so harsh? Most likely.

As a soon-to-be parent, all I can think of is this:

His mother, one of the only people the boy had in this world on whom he could depend...

And she beats the life out of him for something so trivial.

It's more than saddening. It's horrible.

This amazes me. Just the other day, a friend of mine mentioned how her son had broken a console through rough handling and her response was simply that he couldn't play it until she could afford to replace it. I couldn't believe there wasn't a spanking involved. :S

Then this comes out. Over the top, wow. She must have anger management issues, a history of violence, surely? How terrible that a kid died, regardless.

If it had been the other way around everyone would blame the game industry but instead a child died....this sucks.

The vast majority of people will be parents at some point in their lives. And yet, we expect people to just magically know how to raise a kid. If they taught basic parenting classes in schools we could avoid many cases of people failing as parents such as this one. I really can't see any reason why this would be a bad idea.
You mean Home Ed. That class schools cut because it was unpopular?

OT: No amount of Education would of cured this, bad parenting is just that. She has a prior record of Assault and drug charges.

That is just...unfathomably depressing <:( What kind of horrible, messed up person do you have to be to beat your kid so hard he dies? Scratch that, beating your child in general.

9/11 really happened, mate. Dunno what planet you live on.

OT: You know, I am very angry that I'm not shocked by this. What does that say about the world I live in?

This "mother" deserves the worse punishment she can get.

Im saying how supid people can be, these kind of people probably watch fox news all day, maybe the kid broken the TV just minutes before news hour:p

That the mother lives in bronx is probably not very surprising.

And with that "real" question i meant (you should have figured) "beliving into official statements"

Not the first time a Wii got somebody killed:

Apparently, drinking too much water can be toxic if you don't get some sodium with it.

I refuse to condemn the woman until the courts are done with her
Eh, why? She's admitted to beating and kicking her child to death. What does the court need to say about it for you to condemn such a person? o_O

OT: Give the stupid ***** a death penalty imo. You don't beat someone to death by accident.
Actually beating someone to death by accident happens quite alot.

Child raising, you're doing it wrong!!!

I am very much against the beating of children, but if one absolutely has to do it, I draw the line at spanking. Who punches a 5yo kid in the stomach? And it was cleraly an accident, wich kid would break a TV on purpose? What she did was so uncalled for. She may say it was an accident, that she didn't mean to hurt him as severely as she did resulting in his death. BUT, that is no excuse, point is she did it, and she should have known better. Accident or not, there's just no excuse for this kind of thing if you ask me. May she be put behind bars and rot, stupid cow.

Surely there's no defence for beating a child to death.

If a child is raised by a family who believe in smacking them when it's warranted then fair enough, but hitting them hard enough to cause internal injury? What the hell is wrong with some people?

Nice to see that there's a few jokes being made above, way to stay classy guys *thumbs up*
Good to see someone who understands the distinction between parental discipline (because it can be necessary at times) and child abuse.

That said, this is a terribly sad story. There's nothing that can bring back that child's life, and I'm fairly certain a simply insurance policy could have brought back the damn TV.

If she really did beat him to death, that's pretty fucking disgusting.
