Cyberpunk RPG the likes of Shadowrun. With todays tech it would be epic!
Ugh, Shadowrun.... Cyberpunk with a bitter twist.

I. Love. Cyberpunk.
But the moment you mix in some Tolkien elves, and give those things a machine gun, my stomach turns and lurches. I'd take it if it meant I could get more cyberpunk- it at least gets some basic themes right. But the whole fantasy-future thing overshadows to much of what makes cyberpunk so appealing.

I'll take it, but, not my first choice. Cyberpunk minus the tolkien inspiration? BRING IT! :D

Old-school survival horror. Deadly Premonition feels like a step in the right direction but I'd love to see more.
Please tell me you've been introduced to Amnesia: The Dark Decent. It's a title that gets said here a lot, so if you've spent much time in the forums at all, you've had to have heard of it. Amnesia is, bar none, the scariest game that has ever been made. And I don't exaggerate that.
Oh I've heard all about it and it sounds fantastic but I don't game on my laptop much so I haven't got around to buying it yet. Definitely going to get it at some point though.

Another Commandos game. Top-down strategy action with a few key playable characters. Commandos 2 was the best in the series and was always great fun.
This. It's one of those great genres that spawned out of technical limitations and despawned courtesy of technical innovation. It's a shame we didn't see too many of those games before they disappeared. I wouldn't give up hope though, looking at the resurgence of games in the "Diablo Genre", it's not unthinkable that we'll see another top down strategy action game in the near future.

Action-RTS games. Stuff like this:

Or this:

Basically, RTS games where you actually take part in the battle yourself rather than controlling it from high above. Far more fun than conventional RTS games IMO.

I want to see the next mainstream game that isn't an FPS or Uncharted. Assassin's Creed is a step in the right direction.

Survival Horror OMG WHERE DID YOU GO!!! Survival horror games nowadays are action games with a scary monster jumping out at you every once in awhile.

I did love me some Space Combat Simulator tho. I LOVED X-Wing vs Tie Fighter and Colony Wars buaha.

As popular as MMO's have gotten, I'd expect a Star Wars MMO to rake in huge cash. I'm an MMO hater (pointless grind, no reward, have to interact with people... lots of reasons) but if a Star Wars MMO allowed a pilot character type and a space sim where you could fly escort, or transport, or pirate in open space... I'd be there. I'd be there on day one.
I hate to break this to you, but, it exists, and it blows chunks. :( It didn't always suck. It was cool once, then the boys with the coding decided to rehash how the system of the game worked, and broke it, causing a mass exodus that very month.
It has to exist... post beta. I must re-iterate that I'm an MMO-hater and not like to jump on a beta-train. And if you are talking about that silly on-rails combat system, that does not even get close to counting. Rogue Squadron games were too "on-rails" for me. I'm talking free spaceflight sim. Alliance, XvT, Starlancer, ect. Anything less wouldn't even be on my radar.
I'm talking about Star Wars Online. It was WAY past beta. Look it up. :) It sucks (but it didn't always).
SWO? That had nothing like what I'm talking about. To date, nothing has.

Definitely space combat as everyone's been saying. I much prefer the 'really feel like you're out there' feel of the Xwing series over the arcade, 'right way up' version seen in Rogue Squadron and Battlefront. Just give us a 3rd person view with aiming sights and it's the best of both worlds.

does Arena Deathmatch count as a genre? I want that back. Timesplitters 4 where are you...

Also adventure games, and decent 3D platformers. Better yet why can't we have more of both in the same package?

Those odd physics-based 2d destructive enviorments-things would be nice to see big-budjet. Like on PSN or something. Shit like "Liero" and "Volcano". remember those things? They were pretty fun and ridicilous.
Right on, Liero was the bomb. Good as Soldat is, it's jetpack just can't compare to the grappling hook that Liero had...
