I think he was meant to be a party member from the start but you can hardly have a shambling abomination being called to a landsmeet with the king, can we? Nice plot device Jav3lin and Malifact!
Ding ding ding! We have a winner! That was actually dead-on why Malifact is joining the group now.

Anyway, I would like to formerly introduce Skaar to your group. Accept his half broken soul, he means no harm... I swear :/

OT:
The Death Knight kneels with his blade in front, sinking it deep into the snow. He rests his head on the hilt and speaks.

"I will journey with you, if you will have me"
Skaar remained still, keeping his head on the hilt, looking down into the snow.

--

The snow had gotten an inch thicker, but the winds had died down, for now-- There was a loud rumble in the mountain pass behind Skaar, and four dozen of small rocks came tumbling down hill--Followed by a loud, beastly roar. Nothing could be seen, but the sound of loud breathing echoed lightly between the rocky walls.

Friendly reminder here: Don't engage in combat, any combat will be either accepted by me if you PM them to me and I think they're okay, or if I lay them down story-wise. Thank you.

"Oh Gods be damned!"

With the voices finally ceased, most of his fear had subsided.

"Are you just daft or did you pull more than a bit of bone to make that sword of yours? You see many caravans in the god forsaken place for brigands to waylay? Who but those with a purpose would travel up here?"

There was a loud rumble in the mountain pass behind Skaar, and four dozen of small rocks came tumbling down hill--Followed by a loud, beastly roar. Nothing could be seen, but the sound of loud breathing echoed lightly between the rocky walls.

"Hey armor... monster...thing...err you, what else lives in these mountains?"

"You must be joking."

Ellondra was flabbergasted by the fiend kneeling before them and the tension's sudden disappearance. She did not sheathe her sword. The man--or creature--made her nervous.

"You caused the death of one of our team! Damned if I'll have you bringing up the rear."

The roar interrupted her thoughts, and she took a cautious step backwards. Gryphons. She'd heard stories of them, but she'd never actually seen one in person... Certainly not as close-up as she would be doing tonight. The Sergeant's quick eyes took in the rest of her companions and the dark "knight" and she scoffed. Very well. If he wanted to replace the guide he'd exterminated, he was more than welcome.

"All right, get up then. We seek the Gryphon Mother who has made her nest in these mountains. If you can guide us to it... then take point."

"All right, get up then. We seek the Gryphon Mother who has made her nest in these mountains. If you can guide us to it... then take point."

"Wha...What?!" Ra'ive stammered.

"You would have that...thing accompany us?! I say we slay this disgusting creature right here and now! Look at what it did to the Dwarf and i'm not even going to mention the guide! Do you want that to happen to the rest of us?" he exclaimed as he gestured towards Skaar.

He no-longer cared about the king, the griffins or even the Dwarf that he was still supporting on his leg. All he cared about was putting Skaar in the ground where he belonged.

She held up her hand to Ra'ive to silence him.

It wasn't that she didn't fully agree with the Elf--she was bitter, and humiliated, and unsure for the first time of the proper procedure, the correct step to take. This sort of thing was in no textbook she'd ever read, that was for certain.

What worried her more was attempting to slay It. She'd seen what the others had done; that was to say, nothing. She couldn't convey this aloud, but she hoped her careful glance toward him would communicate the sentiment. They could not afford to take It on. They would lose everything.

"Fine" spat Ra'ive as he re-mounted his horse for the third time. When he was mounted he looked from Skaar to Ellondra.

"If 'it' brutaly murders us then i will hold you to blame" his words though on the surface jovial were grave and full of seriousness. He didnt like the idea of following the Skaar but he would go along with it and keep an eye fixated on him, so that if he made one wrong move, he would be the first to drive his blades into Skaars black heart.

"And Ellanda if you take it upon yourself to silence me again, you and me will have a very serious falling out" he added purposfully mis-pronouncing her name trying to add abit more to the desired irritation.

I'm not really one to take it out of the game. :D

Her lip curled. As though he'd even remember they'd had a disagreement the next time he got Rocked.

Ellondra swung herself back up into the saddle and waited for her party to proceed.

I'm really unhappy with what you just did, Jav. I already had something planned for Skaar to join the group, without having to resort to that. It was completely out of character for Skaar, and it goes against everything that just happened

"You have no guide. Without one, you won't last the night in these mountains. In lieu of the... unfortunate demise of your scout, I will guide you to the Gryphons nests." He chuckled darkly, turning about and gesturing over his shoulder for the travellers to follow him. "If you value your lives, then follow... it will be night soon, and there are far more dangerous creatures which roam the Mount..." As if to underline his point, a gargantuan, bellowing roar ripped out over the mountainside; the furious cry of some titannic beast.

"For your... scout... I can do nothing. The spirits of this pass would have driven him mad, with or without me. The rest of you will fare no better if you remain here."

Yep, it's the first rule of RPGs. What The Gm Says, Goes.
All the sourcebooks of the world are simply guides for what the GM should do.

This is why in a lot of my tabletop games I try to connect the characters in backstory, hand wave the group forming or you accept the "PC Glow" mentality. PC Glow referring the the character's innate ability to see potential in other characters and thus recognize PC as being such, in actuality it's a slightly more immersed hand wave. Otherwise these kind of encounters are always going to be a little tricky to play out as actual characters.

"Don't me so quick to underestimate us. If we were all sent here then perhaps it's safe to assume we can handle whatever hunts in these hills. I'll even cook it up for supper once we've dispatched it." Vik'nar was not amused with this thing's, as he had yet to identify himself, assumption that he would be helpless without it.

"Besides if the legends are true, I have no doubt that we can find the mother beast as she is rumored to be quite massive. Now if you happen to know a better away to approach her nest that won't have the damned things swooping down on us, then I am happy to oblige you with the position of the vanguard at the head of our column."

I'm so terribly sorry Malifact. I didn't want the introduction to stretch out all night, and it was a terrible thing to do, but then again, you blew my plans for Swaere, so we're square mmkay? ;D

At any rate, I won't take over any character except for their introduction, so you guys in the RP are safe ;)

I have accepted Lambi into the RP, and you can expect him to enter soon.
Before the Gryphon Nest, there is one other fight, and here it is:

OT:

As the winds and snow die down, those who dare gaze upward are faced with a grand portrait of mountain passes and mountain tops, hills and steep and narrow passages.

The rocks tumble more once again, now a bit fewer than before.
As some members of the party look up to the source of the rocks, they see-approximately twenty meters above them, two Ogres that peek down the pass.

As your eyes meet, the Ogre's mouths beckon wide open, followed by the terrifying roar from before.
The two Ogres jump down five meters, and start to aggressively run toward the group. Their size is passing the height of a house, nearly ten meters tall, and they bear armor-covering most of their body, except for limbs and head. The iron armor clings heavily as they fall, and the long iron claymores they yield swing heaftily as they swoop downward toward the party.

Another war cry appears from the right, as another Ogre joins in on the charge.
This one-wearing even heavier steel encrusted armor, covering everything. A massive helm with gruesomely carved bones for horns is steady on his head, and his two big axes swing massively as he charges onward, joining the other two for the final sprint.

I want to remind you that, once a Kill shot has been posted, no-one can post until I decide the outcome of the Kill shot. However, seeing as there are 3x Ogres, the Kill shot will only be committed on the very last one. The prior two can be killed once wounded.
Also, a Kill shot differs between classes, and the consequences will also differ substantially.

Well, the last time something happened that I found awkward, everybody else just went with it, so...

GM: Should we perhaps know in advance what our class's kill shot does so that we can narrate it, or do we just claim it?

Ogres charging--Gyia must have been sleeping when the King had given them his blessing.

"We'll have to cut them down..."

Her falchion cut the air before her and she braced herself for the onslaught; Ellondra used the ogre's momentum and a quick twist to deflect its battleaxe with the dull edge of the sword. Both hands supported the hilt as she turned and forced the blade across the monster's yielding belly. Behind it while it staggered, she tightened her stance to defend against counterattack.

She tried to keep both the ogres and her "companions" within her field of sight while she fought--especially the "knight". She had no idea what they'd try while she was distracted.

((His name is Skaar, by the way; though he has yet to introduce himself))

"Fan out and flank them! Strike from behind!" The Death Knight snarled, bringing his massive blade up in both hands and charging towards the nearest ogre head-on, unleashing a burst of paralyzing pyschic energy at the beast. As he neared the lumbering monster, he spun deftly to the side, neatly side-stepping the brutes thunderous attack to scthye outwards with his blade at the back of the beasts knee's, seeking to slice its hamstrings and immobilize the creature before it could do anything else; a stratedgy he'd found worked well from past experience with these brutes.

@GM Oh yeah, afrosan last OOC did remind me of a question I had. What is the scale of the map approximately?

"Well forget what I said about dinner, doubt you'd all want to dine on this lot of brutes." Quips in Vik'nar as he tries to quickly take measure of the situation.

Our lady sergeant has slashed the armored one across the belly, if he turns back to face her he'll expose his flank to me. It's good to see her fighting is as immaculate maintained as the rest of her.

And out black knight seems to be faring well against that one, although the second will be upon him soon. I should bide him some time and wait for an opening on that first wounded one.

In a quick deft move Vik'nar sends a pair of daggers flying at the third ogre's head. If he blocks or tries to dodge it will give the black knight an opening. He then sets himself up to flank on the armored ogre should it turn back to Ellondra, the katars slide silently from there sheathes as he presses himself into the gaggle of horses trying to hide his presence.

Having woken up from the horrible aftermath of the death knight's mind fog, Dworgen propped himself up on his elbows and looked around. They had moved further up the mountain path, and the misty air had cleared to a beautiful crisp finish. And everyone was fighting a trio of ogres.
He grabbed from the ground bedside him his sword, and jumped into the fray. Unsheathing his weapon, he leapt at the back of the nearest ogre, and plunged the meter-long blade into it's back. The ogre, it's tiny brain not registering that it was supposed to be dead yet, swung around to face the pain on it's back and flailed Dworgen out like a fairground ride. He clung onto the grip of his sword for dear life, yelling as he span.

'That Dwarf is nothing but trouble' Ra'ive thought to himself, he had slunk away when the fighting had begun and had been waiting for an opening. When the Ogre was flailing around with the Dwarf's sword in its back he saw his oppening and charged the creature. He ran full pelt towards the Ogre sliding on his claws as he ran.

When he was close enough to the flailing beast he jumped and sunk his blades into into flesh. His left claw was off and became embedded in its shoulder but his right hit home. It plunged straight into its neck and once he was sure of its depth ripped the blades of his claw through the monters neck, the claws tore through flash, tendon and most importantly artery.

He braced his legs against the Ogres chest to kick off from it and deftly sprung himself backwards just as the spray of blood shot from its neck, doing a somersault in mid air and landing on his feet.

Her attack goaded the ogre towards her as the Sever-Elf predicted; its axe never met its intended target under the assault of Vik'nar.

The Ogre buckled--as the creature's heavy frame stumbled forward on its way to the ground, Ellondra's blade cleanly severed its head from its body.

The Sergeant turned on her heel to face the last.
