I think you'd enjoy it the second time around. I certainly did; I picked up on lots of things that I had missed, which I'd list for examples but don't want to go through the hassle of including spoiler tags.
Duly noted; I may have to do that this summer.

In a reverse situation, I despise "The Shawshank Redemption", but almost everyone else seems to like it.

To a lesser extend, the LOTR movies. It's not that everybody hates them, but rather that all my palls were like "Good movies, but whatever" while I have evolved into a Tolkien freak. Same thing with the Bourne trilogy, really.
Ew, a self-proclaimed Tolkien freak liking a movie THAT SKIPPED FREAKING TOM BOMBADIL! AND THE WHOLE WIGHTS ENCOUNTER!

Heheh. Those are some of the main reasons why I don't like the movies... even though I'm somewhat of a tolkienist.
Ew, a "OMG THEY SKIPPED A NON-ESSENTIAL SCENE IN THE MOVIE BCUZ IT WAS OVR 5 HOURS LONG IT SUCKS NAOW!" elitist, back atcha =P

Of course it's a shame they skipped out Tom, but the scene really did nothing to progress the story and seeing as the original movies ended being up far over 6 hours long, I can't blame them for it. People who hate the movie because of this just aren't being real; any other director than PJ might've skipped a way more essential scene like the entire Moria encounter. Bombadil's just a pet peeve of Tolkien that is really more of an icing on the cake than something that needed to be in the movie.

Well I'm not sure of a film that I love that everyone else hates, but I do know a film that I hate that everyone else likes:

Black Sheep

Awful film.

Spiderman 3. Sure it wasn't as good as the previous two, but it didn't deserve the amount of hate many people showed towards it.

Titan A.E. That movie was great, yet I don't know anyone else who gives it credit.

Children of Men, I think. Nobody I've met likes it, yet I'm in love with the movie. I'd recommend it to anyone who likes a serious flick which hasn't been corrupted by Hollywood or general idiocy.
Children of Men was a fantastic movie, but it also suffers from lacking the credit it fully deserves.

Street Fight: The Movie.

When you respond to that sort of thing with moral indignation, you are taking the subject matter WAY to seriously.

I liked LOTR too, but everyone I know hates it.

Also loved children of men. If you analyse it, the protagonist is not my favourite action hero, he never even picks up a gun, yet I still love the film just for it's well, the way it is done, it's approach to action and drama with such incredibly high stakes while at the same time sounding and feeling like all of human misery and futile conflict which we see in such a detached way on the news and documentaries.

My personal favourite is any one of the Original Star Trek films, with the Original cast, not the next Generation cast. They were great and right up there with Indiana Jones and the original Star Wars as classic, witty and exciting action adventure flicks of late 70's and 80's. Yet most people dismiss them as mere fanservice for obsessive and out of touch star trek nerds. I wasn't a Star Trek fan when I first watched the films but I was a fan after I'd watched them. I'm amazed they aren't held with more reverence.

Other personal favourites:
-Leslie Nielsen's Wrongfully Accused: really funny and mostly unknown film, mainstream films have been stealing jokes from this film for the past 15 years and pulling them off worse. IMHO, this film has more genuine laughs per minute than any other film I know.

-Vantage Point: ending was a bit suck and ridiculous at points but doesn't deserve half the hate it gets

-What's up Tiger Lily: most people haven't even heard of this film. It's basically a hilarious redub/recut of a crappy B-movie from Japan. I laughed so hard it hurt.

-Rescuers down under: if you say "But it's just a kids cartoon" you just haven't seen it.

-Rush Hour trilogy: i'll get the most hate for this, but it you accept that these are dumb movies and just enjoy yourself, that is what Bret Ratner is good at. Hannibal Lecter and X-men films... he should just stay the fuck away.

Also Broken Arrow.

I have seen lots of negative reviews and it really is ridiculous at points.

But John Travlota is just extraordinary as the crazy bad guy, absolutely unbelievably batshit and over the top, every line is a quote of B-movie shultz awesomeness.
