Heh, my post was about 75% 'to see what would happen' as I don't like forums cus what most people consider ripostes of erudites are in fact puerile drivel.
I suppose that as my actual opinion is, 'it's a demon in a women suit so of course it acts like that, and who cares I didn't make it, and I prefer Soul Calibre and Super Smash Bros anyway', it makes this a 'troll' too, but given my aforementioned lack of respect, that's alright in my view.
But I would like to make one...no two points tho.
The first is being: how does this make our industry look to a non-gamer?
Extra Credits repetidly mentions our industry is not taken seriously, how we should endevor to make it art, how people view our products as 'just for kids' or for teenagers seeking cheap thrills.
These kinds of products, in addition with DOA Beach Volly Ball and several other games mention by none other than Extra Credits themsevels btw, do nothing for our public image.
Bit of a laugh, cheap thrills, generic trash game, whatever, it's still evidence to those who seek it that we don't make art, we make digital garbage. It's no better than 'Scary Movie' or those other low class teenage fart-gag films. It is a concern of those with a progressive outlook who seek to elevate our medium.
And as for 'it's just a game'; no it's not. It's art, my passion, and a Business above all else. Any aspect of it is as important as any other, message and public image included, and I will ignore any future statement from here on out with those sentiments there in.
The other point is that there are very few women in games who are shown in a respectible and adult light. This is a fact, gentlemen, with emperical evidence for those who care to look for it.
Where you find your Marcus Fenix or Solid Snake, which in themselves are poor stylisations of thinking men, although that is less of an issue where games are concerned I'll admit, you also find your Ivy and Samus.
Samus; the same Samus Aran who was turned into a 'weak women' when she lost her helmet and was given a voice. Those who watch Zero Punctuation will know of that fact.
Point is our industry is mostly staffed by males, mostly geared for a male audience, males mostly make up our characters that act in our games while women are second players in skimpy outfits.
This is public knowledge and should be a notable consideration.
If anyone cares to make an pertinent comment to my revised point, by all means do so and I may check back.
^-^
[For the record: I don't give a monkies tonka what anyone thinks or says here. Save you supercilious commentary for someone else. I'm not expecting prize winning view points, but something with a little thought in it would be nice.]
