I think the thing with MAG is how many players play simultaneously, it's pushing the boundaries and I'm sure a lot more games will be taking that on in the future. I'm still curious to see what it's like playing with that many people.
It didn't really do a whole lot with the "Tune your weapons" gimmick; especially since you have to grind your way up in order to even compete.
Then again, I'm from the school of thought that competitive games should be "Start on equal footing, but compete on execution".
It's not wise to start the game by essentially giving new players a mandatory handicap.
MAG also suffers greatly from what ultimately killed Warhawk, but I'm getting to that.
Uncharted 1 did seem to be underwhelming, but Uncharted 2 is what everyone's talking about right now, and by all accounts you might as well skip U1 entirely.
Wish I had known that, but alas, hindsight.
Metal Gear Solid 4 - yeah, it's only for a certain type of person. If you've played earlier
MGS games you'd know what to expect. Every time you save the game in MGS3 there's an exposition about classic movies.
Aye, and that could very well work, except that you need to emphasize GAMEPLAY if you're making a VIDEO GAME. Then again, I didn't go into MGS4 on hype; I have never played a MGS game prior to that. Ever.
It was a "Hey, you got a PS3. Let me see what it can do." moment.
As for Warhawk being multiplayer only, it's something you do know up front, so it's more of a thing of you either like it or don't and would make that decision before even playing it.
I knew that going in, and that was perhaps the worst part.
I'm just disappointed that such a great setup went to waste solely because the game lost a great deal of its playerbase. Even basic botmatches would have kept it alive as a party game.
(ASIDE: I thought that Cell-Processor Sony endlessly hyped meant that the system would be more conductive to multitasking, making it PERFECT for AI. Granted, this is a relatively early title for the system, but that doesn't mean they couldn't update it or adapt the concept)
