yeh as an englishman id have to say with real football and rugby theres no room for american football especially seeing as it is one of very few sports only professionally played in 1 country and besides its very slow paced so i dont know why Americans like it so much (no offense to anyone who enjoys it)

Well, I will use the chance that the the german ARD has given me: I will watch it. Don't know how long I will last, its 11 minutes past midnight at the moment, but I would hvae missed it hadn't I watched the channel when it turned to SuperBowl.

I watched (went to a bar and got drunk) it the past 2 years but will not be watching it this year. I would never be able to actually sit and watch it though, there's way too much stopping and starting and too many advert breaks.

I'm a Brit and I watch the Superbowl every year, have done for a decade now. I know a fair few others who do aswell. I even know a few pubs which are doing special Superbowl offers and staying open right untill the end (which could be 4-5 am).

Sadly I'll be watching it at home alone, but there we go. For tonight at least, Come on Pittsburgh!

no. american football is rugby for pussies.
Did you completely skip over the "Please be polite" sentence in the OP?
yes, my apologies.
(it's still true though.)
Again with the lack of politeness.

I'm sure you would be perfectly willing to tell a professional football player to his face that he is a pussy.
what about my apology strikes you as impolite?

in response to your question.
1: in comparison to a rugby player (does not wear body armour much beyond a lightweight gumshield, does not have to stop for a breather after every 10 seconds of play, and does not simply have his game strategy screamed at him by a coach) yes.
2: I can run like hell when i have too, so ... do you have any suggestions as to where i could find a professional american football player :)
That's not really right. Most players are using body shields and soft shoulder pads. And there's a movement in Anzar camp to make scrum caps mandatory. And if you look at the old NFL helmets, then you'll see the similarities.

Do not care, it seems to be more hyped for the commercials than the actual game, a sport among many others that I do simply not understand why people follow.

I'm a Brit, and purely because my dad loves it I will also be watching. NFL's pretty much the only major team sport I find even vaguely interesting.

the part in parenthesis where you insist that Football players are pussies.

While it is true that Football players wear pads the reason for this is because tackles that would be extremely illegal in Rugby (high tackles and stuff around the neck) are perfectly acceptable and players tend to hit harder. The danger for serious injury in both sports is actually about the same. Rugby just has a slightly higher chance for minor injuries because of the lack of a helmet and heavier pads.

As embrasseing as it is to say, all this time I've actually thought the super bowl was about bowling. But I'm not going to watch it be it bowling, or hand-egg.

Yeah I'll be watching the superbowl.
I live in Scotland and while I don't really follow the NFL I usually watch the superbowl every year. I think it's fun choosing a random side and seeing if they win. This year I'm backing the Green Bay Packers!

I believe I heard of a such thing. It's a bunch of dudes on steroids in sissy suits spending two hours on organizing a ten seconds action. Or something like that.

I don't know, as far as watching ball sports go I prefer actual football. This game does seem to involve a shitload of tactics and rules but I just can't get really into them. I have enjoyed watching a baseball match or two.

Can't watch it as it finishes at 4 in the morning and I have to be up for 9 so I need some sleep. However, I am rooting for the Greenbay Packers. I might be from Britain but I love American football (as well as ice hockey). I actually went to see the Nottingham varsity american football match between Nottingham university Outlaws and Nottingham Trent university Renegades and loved every minute of it.
