Don't you think calling her heartless is a bit redundant? When entering the political arena you should expect to have to make tough decisions and as a leader she did. My grandparents hate her and in fact Conservatives in general, but she and her part get a lot of unwarranted shit flung their way.

When John Major left offict Britain was well in the black. She left Major with a booming economy in the 90's and he kept it that way.

I'm sorry but sometimes people in positions of power have to make tough decisions. That's what they're there for. David Cameron is taking it on the chin right now; responses over unpopular policies and reforms; well guess what: sometimes they just have to be done.

Maggie Thatcher pulled out economy up from a low point and employment took the fall for it. It might just happen again. I sincerely hope this is more of a tribute to her legacy and not an excuse to poke relentlessly at the Milk Snatcher.

where you from could help make an apt comparison although the easy ones are she-devil Beelzebub cruela devil and the worst way to spend a vote.
you are obviously new, so let me be nice, "where you are from could help make an apt comparison, although the easy ones are she-devil, Beelzebub, Cruella Deville, and the worst way to spend a vote." corrections are in bold. please try to use correct grammar.

anyway, i am from America. but you dont need to know that because comparisons dont need to be made, just tell me what she did and why she is hated.
very well then (a touch offended) she was a PM in the 80s hated for her decision to import cheap coal, destroying British industry, and Privatising many public surfaces. this created mass unemployment. to get the idea of the cultural mood at the time watch V for Vendetta based on a comic book written at the time.

and please refrain from patronization as it is quite annoying. "Garrb Garrb I don't like the toan of your voice young man".

That's not true, I'm 19 and I loved the King's Speech. And maybe they are making this movie to show people who don't know who about her who she is and what she did. She was the leader of the conservative party in 1970 and the first, British, female Prime Minister by the way.
i didnt say for old people exclusively, but if you watched the escape to the movies episode you would have known what i meant
I have, I watch every week, and I did understand what you mean.
ah, my apologies then

From what I know of her, she cut a lot of subsidized industries in the UK. Yeah, a lot of people lost jobs, but in the end, it streamlined British industry, idealizing the concept of Let The Shitty Companies Die. Whereas in the US, we kept feeding the subsidized mortgage beast until it exploded, and look where that got us.

I (in the the US) have always seen her in comparison to Ronald Reagan, a conservative. I think my first introduction to her was in puppet form in the genesis video for "land of confusion". I'm not familiar with her policies, but if she is like 'the gipper' I assume she championed individual fortune and corporate prosperity over the common societal good.

I heard she went to university with Fela Kuti, but unfortunately none of his awesomeness wore off on her.

sorry but in the 1920's your dear yanky chums showed us that the most effective way to remove resection is to spend if your sliding down a hill you climb up not sit still and wait for the end.

All I know is that she was a very cold women and tough as nails. I recall a story when her and a few aids were in the SAS live fire course and when the bullets started flying over their head she was very calm, even telling one of her aids to suck it up, he was embarrassing her.

Thatcher has changed british politics forever on both sides of the spectrum. She basically created modern British politics and in the long run, history will be kind to her.

sending men out to a war which (in my opinion) could of been avoided.
your aware that the falklands war re-invigorated the british the same way the coronotion did, and that had we allowed some second world south american goverment to just take part of our country we would have continued to slide faster to second world mediocrity. its the reason we were taken seriously in europe and the us, its the reason we aren't some back water, and it has a lot to do with your currant (aextremely high) standard of living.
No, I wasn't aware of that mainly because it's not strictly true, since this wasn't the debate I intended to have I'm not going to go in depth about it. I wasn't aware that it re-invigorated us, though I know that a lot of men died. I know it was more for oil than it was for pride.

You're taking what I'm saying out of context, though, I said it could of been avoided, not that it should of, it was my opinion. After that wall of text you gave I'm really intrigued as to your view on Thatcher in general.
How on earth could the falklands war be avoided?

I'm sorry... but could you possibly rephrase that so it makes sense? Did you mean to use the word 'resection'? Also how was it relevant to my post?

Dear god, very well yet again. Yank comes from the western song Yanky doodle. Being British and having to grow up with Spotted dick and other such blatant metaphors I am practically immune. Just to say I have dyslexia and am pedantic, IE I nerve spot the mistake but franticly try to right it when noted.
So stop with the correction my hands grow tired.

I'm Australian. I'm 34. I know the milk snatcher. Mostly through politics, particularly the Poll Tax Riots, though also through Raymond Briggs' The Tin-pot Foreign General and the Old Iron Woman and punk music (would The Exploited have existed without Thatcher?).

EDIT: She was also best mates with a certified evil murdering monster, one of the worst dictators of modern times, fucking Augusto Pinochet.

Now who's the one being patronizing?

Though I still fail to see what you're trying to say. The previous quote had almost no punctuation and made no sense, I was asking for clarification and hopefully a well structured edit of the quote.

But hey, thanks for being condescending and facetious on the internet. You can be helpful without treating other users like children you know.
