I completely stopped listening to every reviewer who gave GTA IV a good score (and SPIKE gave it GOTY...so they are on my MEGA-Uber-S***-list), which, when you actually look at it, is almost every single video game reviewer on the f------ planet!!!!
Haha.
They're useful sometimes. Reading the reasons behind the number is often more telling then the number, which in most cases, is arbitrary.

Lack of skill shouldn't make a game obscenely unenjoyable either.
Yea, it should... If you're dying over and over and over again because you have no skill, is that enjoyable? No. But it isn't bad game design either. If someone who's new to FPS games tried to play COD4 on Hardened or Veteran, he would keep dying and he wouldn't find it fun. He'd probably quit after the fifth or so death. That isn't bad game design, that just means the player sucks.

I'm sorry, but maybe there's something wrong with me because I don't find pointlessly butchering a game without bringing up a single solid point funny. You ranted on about this game, but never brought up a single point to justify anything you said. You just demonstrated that you went into the game blindly and expected it to be everything that it was never supposed to be.
That's not really fair... even though I'm not sure I think the complaints would have necessarily ruined my personal gaming experience, General_Rogue did back up a lot of what he said with some sort of reason for why it would tick him off. Ironically, he could probably say the same thing about your criticism of his rant, as something you're endlessly butchering without perhaps understanding what he is trying to convey.

Guitar Hero showed me otherwise. I sucked at it and still had a ball. I sucked at Soul Calibur and had fun. MarioKart Wii was a lesson in both humility and laughter. Halo, despite my inabilty to shoot straight and my surprising lack of combat senses, turned out to be fun despite the fact that I respawned more often than Schrödinger's pheonix. A game that is only fun if you are able to do well is satisfying, yes, but only fun to a small population. A measure of a good game is based, I'd believe, more on the latter category, and less on the former.

I have difficulty taking any FPS seriously on PS3. The controller is 110% console game, meaning that it is not good at all for FPS.

The 360 controller, on the other hand, was designed to be used with the Xbox and PC alike, meaning that it's easy for an FPS control scheme to be comfortable and effective. That's why the only good console shooters this gen have been on 360.

Somebody get this noob out of here and tell him Yahtzee hates fanboys, especially his, doesn't reply to posts, and is 97% not the guy this clown thinks he his.
You see, it's people like this, people who use words like "noob" too casually, that drive the public away from gaming, and give the uninformed politicians and parents alike the notion that videogaming makes people angry and violent, which I'm almost starting to believe.

that's why i don't let critic scores decide what games i buy, it's all down to personal preference. i've played games that got high scores and didn't like them, but i've also played games that got low scores and loved them.i haven't played Resistance 2 (and as i don't have a PS3 i doubt i will) but from what you've said it seems like a buggy game that needs refining (and something to hide behind), but should i get the opportunity to play it, we shall see how things pan out
eep! color code: red, free thinker must be purged "beep" "beep" "beep"

I own both a P.C and a 360, and i can say, I prefer the concole controller, HOWEVER i am never as acurate with it. Mouse aiming is far better, and more accurate, its just a console controller does EVERYTHING ELSE more efficiently

Oh and why is it bullshit to enjoy an immersive single player game? why does single player need to be just tacked on to most FPSs aftetr the multi player is done? I personally only enjoy a couple of multi player games, Most bore me. I like at least SOME story

So you bought a bad game? Everyone does, no use to go cry to Yahtzee, he'll get at it sooner or later, a standard rant or review would do. Also obvious question here: If it was so bad, then why did you waste 10 hours?

Well, I can't speak much more on the matter since I didn't mind dying in Resistance 1 or 2. I die, then I do it again, but this time with the knowledge to get through the level. It's quite a sense of achievement beating Resistance 2 on Difficult (Superhuman scares me for the time being). I didn't care that I died more times than I can count. I was just saying that if he isn't having fun, it isn't the games fault. It's his.

And I think you need to work on tampering with quotes, such that your post doesn't claim I make the strange and contradictory statements you do. But feel free to take the time I am using to write this post to edit your own and pretend it never happened.

Personally, what you're saying now makes more sense than before. Perhaps you could have stated it as ... eloquently ... the first time.
