Ah. Well, if this is a rant about exclusivity in general, I'll wholeheartedly agree. It's an inward-looking, pointless little practice that serves neither the consumers nor the medium.
'Not being able to experience great works' is surely a defining hallmark of this often idiotically myopic industry/medium. [footnote]Although one can say the other mediums are catching up fast, given the continuing fragmentation of TV streaming, film production, and so on.[/footnote] If BG&E2 really is a bizarro NX exclusive, then it'll join a sizable list of games I'll never play because I'm not prepared to blow thousands on multiple systems. The ideal is a unified medium, but I sadly don't see that occurring because it's to no-one's benefit but the punters, ergo MS, Sony, Nintendo will cling to their grabbed territory.

Whilst I'd like to play a BG&E follow-up, my sweary ire of late's been consumed by Capcom and Firaxis, so I'm all ire'd out.

Although... if that were to happen and I got to play the game on PC or whatever... that would mean.... that would mean I would logically have to be grateful to Nintendo for dragging it out of development hell!

Dear God. Will this nightmare never end?!
Oh come on! This is pointlessly stupid! Did Nintendo kill your dog or something?

Like I said, the rumor came from a guy who thinks the Wii U was 100x weaker than the PS4 (actually numbers put it at maybe 7x or 8x, which is bad, mind you, but nowhere near as exaggerated as that), thinks Pokemon Sun and Moon will contain all the regions, thinks coding is so simple for the NX all you have to do is compile it, and thinks Destiny is coming to the NX. Not only are these rumors far fetched, three of the four are literally impossible. Calm thy tits. The actual chance of this game rumor being true is as possible of me suddenly turning white.

There's a lot of things to criticize Nintendo for. This is not one off them.

You calm your tits.

That bit you quoted was a joke. Mostly.

I mean, who uses the phrase "will this nightmare never end" with a straight face?

Hell, even the OP wasn't 100% serious. I would have thought that sentences like, "I shall be thinking very unkind things about them indeed. Just you see if I don't", would have clued people into that.

I'd still take that over nothing.
And millions of people disagree. And of course Conker would be the correct response, because it involves a property formerly on a Nintendo console. This is the only reason you're even in here.

Honestly, it's impossible to have a cogent discussion with you on the matter, so I'm just going to stop. Every Nintendo topic involve you coming in, overreacting, accusing others of overreacting, and then brigading. It gets really tiresome that even the mildest criticisms of Nintendo are met this way. So just do me a favour. Whenever you see one of my posts talking about something Nintendo related, and you think about replying, just imagine me responding with "fine, you win."

And I, in turn, when I see you have quoted me will assume that you know the outcome and click the "back" button.

At this point, I don't know how I feel about Nintendo. I want to be hopeful, but they're starting to look like a company on the eve of trouble. That being the case, I'd rather see fewer of the IP's that I care about locked into their dwindling ecosystem.
Well, with that kind of logic, then no console deserves to have any new exclusives because this is the most contracted generation since the Video Game Crash of '83 (if VGChartz is to be believed, but Microsoft not announcing to have hit the 20 million mark for their XBone yet is also worrying).

OT: I never got to play the original Beyond Good and Evil, but it looks interesting. If a sequel did come out to the NX, I think I myself would pick it up. I understand people don't like a formerly multiplat being exclusive to a console that is(/will probably be) their last choice, but just like the case of Bayonetta, it's either fund it with exclusivity in mind, or not have it at all, and saying "No, screw the game! I don't want it if it's on X" just makes people look like spoiled babies.

Honestly, if I were Nintendo's CEO/President, I would've done this a long time ago, as well as finance a sequel to Psychonauts and Shenmue (Sadly, Kickstarter has beaten Nintendo to both, with the latter probably being a PS4 exclusive).

Nintendo is a company who is known for rehashing 80s sequel over and over again with same story about a villain kidnap princess and hero save the day.
You know that's actually objectively wrong using any definition of the word rehash.

OT: Well, look at this this way. If no-one but Nintendo is interested this game will never be made. If Nintendo actually is interested this game will be made. If you refuse to buy an NX to play it then it will be as if the game was never made. So you'd be in the same position as you would be if Nintendo hadn't picked it up. Nothing changes.

Uh, she's the one being logical here. Just screaming "yeah, well you're being a fangirl!" does not somehow bend reality to suit your whims. Your entire argument is giving Bayonetta 2 deja vu, and we all know how pathetic that whole situation was considering how well Bayonetta 2 did critically and commercially. But of course then you tried to gloss over that logical fallacy by switching gears to Battlefront which was not a very good game. But considering Nintendo's track record with collaborations thus far would not be likely to happen, so there goes that argument too.

And of course, there's the obvious: this is a rumor. From a dubious source. I mean, I could see Ancel doing that because he's sick of Ubisoft jerking him around and wants to just get his damn game out, but it's highly unlikely. Take a chill pill.

Anyway, this is definitely an amusing rumor, if nothing else. I would say it speaks volumes of Ubisoft considering how some people are legitimately able to buy into it and how Nintendo has now become some sort of limboed project savior.

Petty? Good heavens yes!

I tend not to fret overmuch about the feelings of multi-billion dollar international corporations. I thiiiink they might just have the capacity to withstand my minuscule antics.
I'm... starting to think I may have taken all this a little too seriously. I'm sorry for pissing in everyone's proverbial cornflakes.

For what it's worth, I was pretty salty about Ni No Kuni being a PS3 exclusive (over here, at least). Ditto the Team Ico games. Luckily I got to play them anywho, by flat-sharing with a PS3-owner, but I was worried I wouldn't be able to, and the salt did flow.

I was thinking about a unified platform, and I'm not sure about it. The monopoly would allow Mega-Corp (or whatever the Sony-Microsoft-Nintendo joint-endeavour will term itself) to act in ways each one individually could never do.

T'was probably in part the availability of rival systems which convinced Microsoft to back down from the ass-backwards "always online" idea. Not so if there was only one platform on the market!

Directly comparing such a diverse defined-by-hardware medium as games to others isn't entirely fair and is usually ridiculous, and yet... I don't see that a single platform would be any worse than what we have now - in terms of sheer greed and opportunism by publishers. And the upside would be every game would be available to anyone owning that system, and all indies would have access to a single market of potential customers.

However, a seismic change would need to occur for it to work; PC's wouldn't just vanish over night to make way for a unified console environment. And whilst iterative, upgradable PC's exist, a truly unified medium still wouldn't exist. I wouldn't mind seeing consoles vanish over night, and for PC's to be the true single platform (it's as close as we have to one, right now) - yet then huge swathes of potential gamers would be left without a simplified system to game on.

It would seem videogames will continue to be fucked, and I'll continue to despise the existence of multiple platforms...

Welp, that's that then. I totally get where you're coming from.

Wouldn't it be great if all disagreements ended that quickly?

Scratch that, wouldn't it be great if Jeffers was back so he could essay you to death? ^.^

I would remind you Zhukov that the last time Ubisoft and Nintendo have tried to do the exclusivity thing it didn't last too long. ZombiU for example ended up on every other console but most egregiously was Rayman Legends which wound up not being exclusive to the Wii U at all. If it's true that Nintendo is partnering with Ubisoft to make Beyond Good & Evil 2, then there's a good chance that it will be a timed exclusive, if that.
But Nintendo to the best of my knowledge didn't fund Zombi U or Rayman Legends. If they fund BG&E 2 then it's more likely to be like Bayonetta 2 where Sega still owns the rights but it's staying a Wii U exclusive due to Nintendo actually funding it's development

Whatever, just wash your hands.
You should get a wiiU, Bayonetta 2 is amazing, better and smoother playing than the first. Plus whats the point of the xbone or ps4? If you have a gaming computer then you can pretty much play anything that shows up on either of those 2, but Nintendo. They tend to do their own thing that is interesting enough to own their system.
